First the recently formed BBB (Farmers party) became the biggest party in the local elections in all !! provinces, 8 months ago then Geert Wilders destroyed the rest in the general elections in november and now we have a government (with 2 other parties) that hopefully will more or less close the borders. The Swiss system of referendums is excellent! A petition of 100000 people within a year of a law being passed triggers a binding referendum to remove any law passed by parliament. Referendums are great for deciding moral or social issues but financial decisions have to be taken as part of a complete economic package. Be careful what you wish for on proportional representation, here in New Zealand we switched to proportional representation. Proportional representation can give highly undesirable MPs who are impossible to get rid of, as long as they belong to a party with 5% of the population wanting to vote for them. We have had racist policies implemented by a tiny minority party that is hated by almost everyone, but this party held the balance of power and was able to gain concessions to form a coalition. You can get good government under any system but P.R. has big negatives. The worst thing about it is that the voter doesn't have direct control of who governs, that is decided by negotiations between the parties after the elections. The best system is single transferable vote like they have in some states of Australia.

Provided for seperate voting wards for Maoris in local councils. And started the process of centralising control of water supply, waste water provision and controls on farm nutrient pollution of waterways with Maori Tribal appointees having veto control. They were also giving preferred access to some University courses for people with Maori or pacific Island ancestry. Most of what they were doing was designed to provide power and cushy jobs for a few Maori Elites rather than benefit ordinary Maori.

Maoris were given priority for medical treatment there was a seperate health bureaucracy set up for Maori health services. Maoris and Pacific Islanders were given priority for entrance to some university courses. Local Maori Authorities were set up with the right to sign off on council planning approvals for a fee. Seperate voting wards were set up for local councils. They began to set up an organisation with centralised control of drinking water supplies wastewater and control of farm nutrient pollution of rivers with Maori elites given veto control over it. Plus all the DEI crap for hiring people based on their race in government jobs. We were just subject to constant petty racism designed to create a Maori elite with power and money, it didnt help the ordinary Maori much.

People genuinely in need of asylum, those of the caliber of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, are EXTREMELY RARE. If 25 countries each have 10 asylum visas available per year, that's far more than adequate, even including a spouse, minor child of a genuine asylee. At least 99.9% of "asylum seekers" are economic migrants seeking to live off taxpayers, or outright criminals. Mass migration is ALWAYS extremely destructive, especially illegal migration, and must be stopped, visa/immigration law violators removed - depart or be deported with permanent bar to reentry.
