Okay, that’s true, but I think you should look at it from Adrien’s perspective. He never really saw Marinette like that. He only saw (and even meet her) a day after they got their Miraculous (Stoneheart). At that time, he first met her when she told him off for the gum issue that Chloé caused, and after that she became more bold and confident. He never saw her as withdrawn as in the beginning of the series. To him, he believes that Marinette has always been confident and stood up against Chloé’s behavior, but only because he came around the same time Marinette was getting more confident. Yes, Marinette have shown her doubts and low self-esteem, but Adrien probably believes it’s a normal trait of hers (everyone has moments of doubts and low self-esteem, even himself), when in reality it’s because of Chloé she developed those traits. But Adrien doesn’t know that.

Unpopular opinion, but I actually agree with Adrien on it: he had the maturity to see things from Chloé's perspective and see how alone she was. Sure, she was nasty, and he wasn't blind to that, but everyone she antagonised wasn't alone, as opposed to her (she shows remorse and self-conciousness of this fact later in the episode). He saw that there was something mean-spirited about celebrating her leaving, and if anything it shows his loyalty. Marinette wasn't perfect in this episode: calling Chloé useless was a particularly iffy moment. The growth of Marinette's character in the episode was actually nice to see, as she began to develop empathy and willingness to let Chloé change and become better, and I think this is thanks to Adrien's insight in the episode.

This is absolutely amazing. I love how there’s finally a fair KZbin video about her character, and not just making her crush on Adrien her entire personality. Marinette is so much more than that and I love how you emphasized that. She’s complex in her own special way and is, in my opinion, one of the main reasons why the show has been so popular. I’ve never really seen a character like marinette who didn’t necessarily have a sad or tragic backstory (not that there’s anything wrong with that) but still manages to make their journey interesting. I think a lot of people fail to see that because her character can be a little difficult to understand, but that’s what I like about her. Great video like always. I’m super excited for the next one!

When you really look at it, Marinette and Adrien mirror each other a lot when it comes to their lives and their personalities sometimes. One way they mirror each other is obviously their home lives, where Marinette has a loving and warm home full of stuff that radiates love, which makes her have trust and confidence when it comes to authority figures, as we see a lot in the series. Compared to Adrien, we know his home life is terrible; with how distant his father is, his mother isn't with them anymore, and how lonely the entire house feels when you look at it and with the situation with his father he doesn't trust adults at all. As we saw multiple times in the series, Furious Fu is a good example, and how he mentions in Zombizou that he's happy that his first teacher is some who is trustworthy and kind. Also, in personalities where Marinette is expressive with her emotions and can be herself without worrying (despite what she thinks of herself) of being judged by people. Whereas Adrien doesn't have that luxury because he has to keep up this facade of the perfect person everyone loves and can't be himself without being degraded by his father or other people. Heck, he even keeps a mask in front of his friends because Adrien is scared that if he's not the perfect friend or sees how "pathetic" and "useless" he is, they don't want to be friends with him anymore. Another way they mirror each other that I think people don't talk much about is how they express their love and process it. With Marinette, she expresses her love by giving gifts that are meaningful and very thought of, she shows love; while for Adrien, it's more verbal from the way he flirts with Ladybug as Chat Noir with him making silly puns and declaring his love for her. But as we know, they don't process that because Marinette didn't take Chat Noir flirting seriously until Glaciator when he admits to Marinette that he's in love with her and is serious about it when she sees the grand gesture he made for her. Same thing with Adrien because when he's given something from someone, he always thinks about what they might want from him or if there is an ulterior motive behind the gift as we see with his dad when get "gives" him something there's always 'but' with it. Not to mention, Adrien wants to hear that he's love, he wants to hear validation that he is good enough for love. Marinette can't trust verbal confessions because of what she's been through, and Adrien can't trust gifts that much because of the ulterior motive that's always been there in his life if he ever wants to receive or gain love. My poor babies.

I agree with you! Both have opposite home lives that contrast each other, and it’s what made them the people they are today that can actually balance each other out. Marinette is an emotional teenager like everyone else and only saw a small portion of humanity’s ugly side while Adrien is emotionally mature stemming from his home life and seeing more of the dark side of life. But wow, I didn’t realize their ways of showing affection parallels each other. Marinette shows love while Adrien tells his love, but they don’t affect each other as they thought. Guess that’s another arc they need to learn from each other before they start a relationship together

Like tchs said, “It’s scary, when not knowing what the future holds” and she’s right. Marinette didn’t knew what the future would hold for her, being ladybug. For the longest time I've been trying to like Marinette but often her writing just made me not like her in general, but putting my pride aside I can admit that I was indeed wrong in all those Instagram Comment sections. Marinette really does not revolve around Adrien. When you look deeper into it you can see all the Amazing qualities she has. After thinking about it for a few hours I'm slowly coming to like Mari as my 3rd favorite MLB character...but honestly she really deservea better writing...as a 14 yo I do find her a somewhat relatable but this is seriously not how you write a 14 year old girl

Miraculous is next level genius. The amount of thought and symbolism that goes into this show just blows me away! This is probably the reason why I’ve never been able to stop watching it. Which is crazy considering I started watching it when I was 10, and now 6 years later I’m still as excited as I was back then, maybe even more. The whole basis of the show is so cool, especially with the love square and ying yang complex. It’s honestly one of most creative and well detailed shows I’ve ever seen. Anyway, Marinette and Adrien mirror each other in many different ways, internally and externally. I think many people have the internal complicated stuff covered, so I’ll mainly be focusing on the external more, simple opposites. - Marrinette’s a girl , whereas Adrien’s a boy - Marinette wears a white t-shirt and black long-sleeve top, whereas Adrien wears a black t-shirt and white long-sleeve top. - Marinette has dark coloured hair, whereas Adrien has light coloured hair - Marinette walks almost everywhere, whereas Adrien is driven - Marinette has two loving parents, whereas Adrien only has sorta one I guess - Marinette ties her hair up, whereas Adrien keeps his down (Ik he can’t really tie his up, but still) - Marinette is more artsy, whereas Adrien is more sporty - Marinette lives in a cute little house, whereas Adrien lives in a mansion - Marrinette is often late, whereas Adrien is often on time or early And the list just goes on… I love how the creators put so much effort into the complicated opposites, but also the simple opposites. It really gives the show an extra something.

Something a lot of people don't talk about is Marinette's development of self-esteem. After she became Ladybug she learned to be someone more confident, besides being clumsy she didn't trust herself, we see this very well in the episode Origins, and how Ladybug made her become a better person and face her fears and insecurities. I think it's always funny how people criticizes Marinette for being a Mary sue, but no one criticizes Adrian for being a Gary Stu. I'm very fed up with people criticizing characters this way because I realize (and not just for the show miraculous ladybug) a lot of female characters are criticized for being "perfect", but for boys heroes, it's just normal for them being a Gary Stu. I rarely see a whole video or article criticizing a character for being a Gary Stu, people always talk about Mary sue. That's very sexist in my opinion. Also; before you yell at me for being a feminist : I love both Adrien and Marinette :) I don't have a preference, I think both of them are awesome they're not Mary Sue or Gary Stu, they're complex characters that made me fell in love with the show on the first place. ^^

Ayyyy such a beautiful analysis! I think the appeal of Marinette for me stems from my old fashioned love of superheroes in say Superman because although Miraculous is based on Spider-man, I think Marinette share's the same traits as Superman sometimes. They both have a normalish upbringing, have a double life and both can be easily recognised by the audience that they are the same in and out of costume. She's basically if Superman were 14 instead of an adult, could a "normal" teen handle that amount of power/ strength? On top of that Marinette's positivity is one of the reasons she hasn't been akumatized yet, which is why S4 giving Marinette emotional depth for that possibility is so appealing because she isn't the same girl anymore. Adding onto that she has trauma from effectively one of her mistakes. A pro-longing consequence that is effecting both parts of her life too which when she finally admits to someone she'll change again. Nobody stays the same as they say! Definitely my favourite episode that explored the differences in Adrien and Marinette's upbringing is in "Prime Queen" where Adrien as Chat Noir doesn't shy away from personal questions, compared to Ladybug who keeps herself and her feelings private. It makes sense that Adrien is so used to interviews because he is THE Adrien Agreste, but Marinette? Nah she's never been popular in the public eye & she idealistically hates the idea of being a celebrity. She's there to save the day and not go through emotional stuff until S4 that is. Can't wait to see her develop her communication skillz more! ^^

As you may have seen in the series itself, the ladybug and black cat miraculouses were housed in a box by Master Fu. Each Miraculous is associated with a different section of the box matching their respective animal representation. If we take a look a closer look at this box, we can see that the two Miraculouses are on top of the Yin and Yang symbols. This is actually an interesting concept to keep in mind throughout the series. The Yin: The Yin is the dark part of the circle. The Yin on it's own is a representation of darkness. Naturally, this would be associated with Cat Noir. Cat Noir's outfit is all black, reminiscent of the darkness in the Yin. In fact his super power "Cataclysm" is destructive in nature. This is also reflected in the Yin as the Yin can also represent destruction. The Yin represents night and moon as well.. which are easily associated with cats. The Yin also implies submission. This can be seen when Cat Noir let's Ladybug handle a lot of the planning and problem solving for situations. The Yang: The Yang in contrast is the white part of the circle. The Yang represents light and the sun. This can easily be associated with Ladybug. Yang can be associated with fire, which can be in turn linked to red, the color of Ladybug's outfit. In addition, Ladybug's power "Lucky Charm" is important to note as there is a bright white light emitted when the yoyo spins around. Additionally, the Yang is often associated with creation in which Ladybug creates things that will help her solve the problem. The Yang is also a symbol of strength and dominance. Ladybug is definitely the dominant one in terms of battle. She is always the one solving the problem and calling the shots. Adrien/Cat Noir and Marinette/Ladybug's Appearances: In Miraculous Ladybug, there is one particular aspect of the Yin and Yang that I find fascinating. The Yin (dark) is actually meant to be female and the Yang (light) is meant to represent male. Now I know what you're thinking, Cat Noir is a male and Ladybug is female! At first I found this strange, until I actually looked at their color schemes. That's right! Marinette's hair is dark (Yin) and Adrien's hair is blonde (Yang). In fact both their outfits have a mix of black and white on them. Marinette is wearing white with black on top while Adrien has black with white on top. Now let's looks at Ladybug and Cat Noir. Ladybug's outfit has black dots all over it (Yin) while Cat Noir has a huge yellow bell around his neck (Yang). Now, I personally believe this is the representation of the dot. There's a little Yin in Yang and a little Yang in Yin. They are a mix of both parts. It is important to note that while Cat Noir embodies the Yin and Ladybug the Yan, if you look closely at the placement of these Miraculouses, they are switched. About the Mary Sue part, I find Marinette to be a lot like Kim possible (which is the best vector to prove my point so I will use for a minute then circle back). In Kim Possible, Kim was much like marinette, relatively hypercompetent when it came to the superhero business, but a social disaster otherwise (except maybe in season 4 for Kim), as being a superhero forced her to put aside all her insecurities and all the petty bullshit, the pressure of the situation forced her to do so. In regular social life she had no such pressure, so the petty bullshit had a chance to dominate. People still called Kim a Mary Sue as well, but (and this is why I brought up Kim) she still had struggles, just a different kind. Kim’s Foil was Ron, someone who was used to coasting through life, and extremely comfortable with failing, so he didn’t have many insecurities in life. He wasn’t popular, but he also wasn’t socially inert nor paralysed by social situations, he was generally apathetic to it so long as he could be his happiest self, so when put into a situation where failure just isn’t an option: Being a superhero, and he would struggle as he wasn’t as used to the pressure. I bring them up because they perfectly show the different kinds of struggles that characters can have, be it action and plot related, or interpersonal. As well as perfect examples of what many fans miss, as no one called Ron a Mary Sue yet Kim was slated with that term often. And that’s just because most fans heavily undervalue the character and interpersonal aspects of tv series, preferring the heavy drama, lore and plot of series. That’s why we have sooooooooo many theory channels that insist things like Adrien is a Sentimonster, or that The DeVanilli (eugh, spelling) twin rings are like magical and shit with mind control, yet don’t ever even give a second’s thought to the characters of said series. They. Miss. The. Point. (Which sidenote is why I enjoy this channel, cause it doesn’t do that) Marinette is much like Kim in this sense, her struggles are interpersonal, theyre not as easily quantifiable by big Stakes/ Big problems and so most fans miss that and just call her a Mary Sue. (I didn’t even get into the fact that she still doesn’t find it piss easy to be a hero, she still struggles in the job, she just doesn’t break down into edgy angst every other second )

About why nobody stood up for Marinette - that part is quite realistic. From personal experience I can say that most people aren't monsters or bullies, but they certainly are bystanders. They are afraid of becoming the next victim, so they turn a blind eye and ignore it as long as it doesn't affect them. They start paying attention only when you start to stand up for yourself and get people on your side who support you. Sure, it's weird that such behaviour is shown by good characters and it doesn't really get addressed later in the show, but sadly, it's typical for real-life situations.

Out of context, Marinette breaking into Adrien's house does sound creepy, but when you look at the context, it really isn't. The first time, she went in because she the guys ditched her and the rest of the girls to throw a party at Adrien's house and she had every right to be mad at them. Also when Adrien found out that Marinette broke in, he was totally cool about it. Sure, he was surprised at first, but he wasn't mad. He even wanted Marinette to come and join them but Nino shut him down. Second time was to deliver him a gift. Nothing creepy about that. I'll admit the pillow-sniffing part was kinda creepy but that wasn't the main purpose of her going there. Third time was to stop Chloe from showing a video to Adrien's dad that will make him want to stop sending Adrien to school and no one including Adrien wanted that so they helped Marinette get in to stop her. All the times she broke in was either because she was doing something nice for Adrien or was rightfully angry

The thing is that she faces little to no consequences for her action. It's okay for a character to have flaws and issues and make mistakes, it's even necessary, but each time she's doing something bad, she always goes on with it and so is the show. The only thing the show shows us to signify that she knows she did something bad is either her realizing "oh no, I did something bad" and just doing it again in some episodes after, or Tikki telling her "what you did was bad". I love your analysis, but I think Marinette’s first ladybug test happened before she ever put her miraculous on. Master fu’s tests were very similar: will you help someone else in need? Both tests are to see whether the potential holder will help him up after he falls. As you mentioned in adrien’s episode, master fu tripped right as he was finally able to escape from his chaperones, probably for the first time. He wanted to run into the school and finally escape from his imprisonment (which we know from Sandboy is his biggest fear). But here was this old man who had fallen and nobody else was around to help him up. He chose to help fu over himself and proved that he’s a great cat miraculous holder. In marinette’s test, master fu falls in the middle of the street as a car quickly approaches and is about to hit him. A lot of other people were around to help, but marinette was the only one who reacted in time and took charge of the situation while everyone else was still paralyzed. It shows that she is capable of quickly taking charge when needed, and make and execute her plans. This is exactly what ladybug needs to be, and why she is the team leader and strategist. The test itself reflected both the similarity and differences in ladybug and chat respective roles.

I think the bullying backstory would have worked a lot better if like, it was shown (shown, not explained) Chloe would bully people if they tried to defend or befriend Marinette, and so everyone just, in self-preservation, left Marinette to be bullied so they'd be left alone. Because I find it kind of strange that Rose, Ivan, Alix, or Nino didn't stand up to her. Especially Alix or Rose? I think it'd make more sense if it was shown that A) Alix was not around and B) that Chloe would leave people alone if they didn't help Marinette. That would explain why nobody ever stood up to her before. Something I don't like is how Chloe is a "bully" but tends to get mocked by her classmates a lot. So it kind of severely waters down the damage she supposedly did to Marinette when all it took was Alya telling her to stuff it for everyone to view Chloe as a nuisance at worst and actively mock her in front of the class. If they're gonna have her be this irredeemable evil, she shouldn't also be powerless in the class except for her money.

About the comment Marinette is a Mary Sue part of the problem is nobody knows for sure what a Mary Sue is. There are a countless number of debates about what makes a girl a Mary Sue, but no one has a set-in stone list of what qualities create a Mary Sue. Despite this, everything I have ever seen says a Mary Sue is physically beautiful, loved by all except the mean girl, humble, falsely flawed, an unassuming nobody until she finds out she is the chosen one, exceptionally talented at everything, and has a tragic backstory that she has miraculously overcame. With Bella from twilight being one of the most famous examples of a Mary Sue. Marinette does not meet all of these qualities; it`s hard judge if Marinette is physically beautiful because she is a cartoon character, but she might be that would explain why Nathaniel crushes on her during evilustrator and why Nino crushes on her during Animan. Marinette is loved by all except the mean girl this one there is no debate on. Marinette is humble we seen this multiple times you said so yourself she does not give herself enough credit. Falsely flawed refers to having no flaws and making no mistakes at all or even if she does make mistakes whatever mistakes she makes ends up helping people in the end. Marinette is not falsely flawed she does mistakes you said so yourself, but another good example is the episode risk when she transforms into ladybug just to convince Adrien to stay in Paris, transforming into Ladybug then was a mistake. an unassuming nobody until she finds out

Being exceptionally talented at everything, Marinette does not meet that qualification an example of that is in frozer when we see her as a horrible ice skater. Marinette does not have tragic backstory other bullying by Chloe and Lila there really are not any tragic backstories in her life. The bullying with Chloe and Lila did cause her some problems but it's not tragic compared to other character`s backstories such as Adrien being raised by an emotional abusive father and being confined to his house for 13 years probably more than that or Chloe she was raised by a selfish mother and a father who did not how to be a father

People need to know that there's a lot more positive things about them than their bad habits. They need to think about the many circumstances they faced, the difficult boundaries they encountered on, and that they are still growing as individuals! There are an explanations why they act the way they are, and people should at least show some empathy and/or consideration. We have to remember that they are still good people, and even if they fumble, that's okay! They are still teenagers learning as they develop. They're human! 😊Even if this show has lost so much potential on it's writing, we shouldn't bash it out on any of the characters!

I have always thought that when the miraculous holders transform, their civilian personalities merge with the kwami's personalities. For example, Plagg is more of a jokester than Adrien normally would be and that might be where part of chat noir comes from. The same goes for Tikki, she's much calmer and confident than Marinette usually is, which may be helpful in being ladybug. Another theory/idea/thought (whatever you want to call it): maybe the kwamis bring out that side in them which is already there but is usually hidden or suppressed because of life experiences. In being influenced by the kwamis or encouraged to behave like so, maybe it's starting to come out more naturally in their civilian lives because they are becoming more confident and more in tune with that side of themselves. I don't know, just some food for thought.

Oh I can't believe what I see, anyone not calling Marinette marY suE when she literally makes terrible mistakes as the series progresses? I just hate the part of the fandom that treats Marinette as the worst character in the world, they are so critical of those who treat her as perfect, but they don't realize how completely annoying they are as much as the others. The ONLY argument people use for her being a bad character is her obsession with Adrien, who 1st - She really developed a genuine affection for him over the seasons, and that obsession started to fade and become more controlled, 2nd - That's not her only personality trait. Marinette is far from my favorite character, but seriously it's really annoying, whenever I see marinette's name absolutely anywhere people find a way to throw hate on her because she's perfect and toxic. I've seen people defending Lila to say Marinette was wrong, imao LILA WHO LITERALLY LIES TO EVERYONE AND MANIPULATES PEOPLE'S FEELINGS FOR SELF BENEFIT (after all, she was written to be a villain). I love miraculous but wish from the bottom of my heart to get away from fandom, people criticize so much miraculous and its characters and forget about the millions of good things that this cartoon brings. What mirroring could mean, why and how Adrien as well as Marinette mirror each other: In order to find out how Adrien and Marinette mirror each other we could first look at what mirroring means and why they mirror each other (what the purpose of it is). Mirroring means to match someone's behavior whether if it is their voice, verbal as well as non-verbal interactions, body language or certain words and phrases they use. Mirroring characters share many qualities meant to complement each other and highlight those traits. Mirrors characters can be on parallel plot lines, working towards a single goal only, however they do get tested in various ways. The ways mirroring characters test each other relies on the ways and how they complement each other in their attempts to reach their different goals in life. Hence mirroring characters help with (are a very big part of) providing character development in litterature, movies series, theater etc. Here in the case of miraculous it especially helps providing character development to the two main protagonists (Adrien and Marinette). The interactions between Marinette and Adrien as well as Ladybug and Catnoir help the audience to explore themes, thoughts and reactions both between the two characters, but also in general terms. To give you a more clear explanation; because Marinette and Adrien are mirroring characters we as an audience and fandom recieve a better understanding of the series itsself, where the two main protagonists are standing (in terms of character and relationship development) and how the love square works. These are important aspects of the series which the creaters would want us to focus on. If Adrien and Marinette weren't mirroring characters there might have been quite a few points that we would have missed or aspects and situations of the show that we would not understand. Since they are mirroring characters we get a better understanding of the series, what the creaters see as the focus points and can reflect on it. But mirroring does not only strictly entail recieving a better understanding of the show. It plays a sicnificant role for the main protagonists within the series as well. The role it has within the series (Adrien and Marinette being mirroring characters) is much bigger then the role it has of the show itsself (our understanding of the show). It is crusial that Adrien and Marinette mirror each other, otherwise it would ruin the plot of the series, since they would not be the same people enymore and thus the ying and yang complex would not be present. This futhuremore indicates why Marinette and Adrien mirror each other, since both of them complement and contrast each other emphasising specific traits that both of them either have or lack. In other words by being mirrors characters Adrien and Marinette help each other to learn and grow, strengthening their evolution and comparing as well as contrasting inner conflicts through their dialogue. As mentioned ealier mirroring means to match another persons behavior regardless of what it is. We have seen on multiple occasions how Marinette and Adrien (Ladybug and Catnoir) have done things or said things similar to one another or parhaps even had the same reactions. For example in the two episodes "Truth" and "Lies" we see how both Marinette and Adrien seem to struggle interacting with Luka and Kagarmi. Their body language is some what similar and the excuses they come up with in order to leave and transform also follows a similar principle. Both of them also deal with the same kind of relationship problems (are in a similar type of situation) regarding trust issues. Aside from that they are both in a position where they try to move on from Adrien and Ladybug, but it is hard for them. Truth and Lies are just one example of how they mirror each other there are plenty of other examples. In Oblivio after Ladybug had sumined her lucky charm, Catnoir confronts her, while Ladybug responds she (unintentionally) imitates his body language. At the end of Troublemaker Adrien also (unintentionally) imitates Marinette's facial expression at one point. Other than mirroring behavior's Adrien and Marinette also mirror each other through their personality and certain characteristic traits. Both of them are kind, positive, nice, smart, helpful, caring, strong and good people. All these traits and many more are traits that complement each other. Meaning that Adrien and Marinette complement each other. At the other hand both of them have many traits that completely contrast one another. For example Adrien is out going, not affraid to say what is on his mind and is able to controll his own emotions (he's also fearless and funny when he is Catnoir). Where as Marinette is a bit shy, affraid to say what is on her mind, has poor controll over her emotions (as you have mentioned in many of your videos) and clumsy (she's also brave when she is Ladybug). These contrasting traits are not only a part of the ying and yang complex but also play a big part for the two mirroring characters. This is because while Marinette initially lacks an important character trait, she is able to learn and grow through her mirror character Adrien and it is the same for Adrien. He is able to learn and grow through his mirror Marinette. Mirroring characters are typically used with the purpose of showing the depth of change for the main character. In this case we have two mirroring protagonists creating and showing the depth of how they change each other. This change is a key factor as it is what creates character development and hence the reason why Adrien and Marinette mirror each other. Though it is also important to mention that Marinette and Adrien mirror each other through their actions as well, which again can be seen through how both of them dicided to move on and get together with other people.

I always felt like Marinette and Ladybug are completely different people later in the show of season 4 I begin to think that Marinette's flaws and personaility are entirely based on her crush she has on Adrien. When marinettes ladybug she's herself, she's confident and brave, but when Adrien's around Marinette turns into her clumsy self because her crush over Adrien impacts the way she acts/speaks example; In the episode The Mime where Ladybug's fighting off a villian, she looks over and see's Adrien she starts to stare him in the eyes and completely forgets what's she doing its like as if Marinette has come back. I don't know why I wrote this, if this doesn't make sense sorry, my spelling/grammar is really bad :( I'm still learning my English

tbh i have a love/hate relationship with Marinette. she can be really annoying to me and sometimes really dumb (ironically enough) plus her writing can be questionable to say the least. but i still love her cause she is such an inspiring character bold kind clever always ready to step in when needed not to mention creative i aspire to be like Marinette even if she gets on my nerves Now the real topic yin and yang: yin and yang has always fascinated me and i love the way its incorporated into the show. the more i go into the show the more i see the yin and yang that Marinette and Adrien represent. they were meant to be opposites but there are still times where they show similarities: like being occasionally reckless or on the other hand incredibly selfless, they"re also both compassionate and willing to help others. i like how in a way one is chaos while the other is harmony: Marinette is chaos while Adrien is her harmony Cat Noir is chaos while Ladybug is his harmony. that"s why they work so well together on the ouside they"re opposites while on the inside they"re the same.

People can like Lila and dislike Marinette. I like Lila. Not as a person, but as a character. Well, actually, I don't know if I would dislike her or not if she was real. Remember that the only thing she's doing is just lying. She's not a thief, a killer or a stalker, she just lies for attention, just like a big part of teenagers around her age. And I'm very, very confused, about my thoughts on Marinette. I'm not a big fan of her that's for sure, but I'm not hating or even maybe disliking her. It's quite complicated to explain. The thing is that, I agree. Marinette is _far_ from being perfect. She's not a mary sue at all. But the fact is that a lot of people in the show treats her as such, or at least, ignores her flaws or just tells her while laughing that it's bad, or Tikki quickly teaching her a lesson. The fact that she steals others' phones, knows by heart the calendar of her crush, bullies a girl she barely knows just because she's spending time with her crush, tries to broke into Adrien's house, humiliate a girl that is just lying to one person while abusing of her powers, and abusing of her powers in general, and that all of this isn't retold again in other episodes because she "learned her lesson" but still do some of these things again in future episodes is pretty annoying. She has little to no consequence to her actions, which is bad, because it firstly can't make her really realize that what she did was bad, but secondly, make it seem as if she did nothing wrong to the viewer, and so, is seen as perfect, a mary sue.

I think that the writers did a great job with the parallels between marinette and adrien because they parallel each other in their hero and civilian form like how adrien is perfect in civilian form while with marinette she’s perfect in hero form and how marinette is herself (mostly) in civilian form while with adrien he is himself when his cat noir and how both can’t live without each other. Adrien can’t live without ladybug because he just needs someone to cheer up his day and with marinette she can’t live without adrien because adrien is the reason her self esteem went up and she had more confidence just saying...

Marinette is an amazing character with a very poor writing. She goes from too perfect (she drives a car like a pro with no learning curve) to too clumsy faster than Adrien says "she's just a friend". Not to mention the toxic and creepy behaviour she has towards Adrien or how violent she becomes to certain people, like Chat Noir, being Chat Noir and Adrien the same person XD. I mean, she threw Chat Noir, her partner and friend, in a bin in Glaciator 2.0. I don't understand how is this not filtered, not corrected at all. There's a whole team of workers developing this show and none of them has criticized it? You can be more or less realistic in a kid show, but when you take a character as a model, especially a superhero, this should be taken very carefully. It's basic emotional development.
