What is the "meta" of MK8? I've been playing MK8 for a while and I don't really see a difference in the karts I use or the characters. I compared Luigi to Donkey Kong and Bowser and they pretty much go at the same pace. Personally I don't like MK8D either, the change from MKW to that is just crazy. They removed inside drift, wheelies and it always feels like your driving on ice with those carts. Also Poof saying he can't see when he is getting hit by items is a problem I have as well. It just looks to late to react before you notice unless it has the little notification thing warning you your about to get hit. Also the whole glider/anti-gravity thing is cool but there doesn't seem to be anything unique about it when it happens expect for maybe a few glider shortcuts/speed methods.

@@theradomguy5581​​⁠The bikes were nerfed because they were too good in MKW. As for the drifting and glider/antigravity, you’re in the minority here. I personally don’t think it adds much, but people were pretty upset with the lack of it in the first DLC wave. And they love their shortcuts too. Also, just saying, if you are hitting as many obstacles as Poof did, you just have bad reaction time, because most of those were easily avoidable. Just having an item held behind you most of the time eliminates that as a challenge. And if you’re too far behind, then the item distribution basically gives you what you need. All in all, this is way easier than MKW for the basic tracks, albeit some of the track layouts are pretty confusing.

Great video as always. But that was the most painful commentary ever. Few pointers from someone who plays 8 online regularly: 1. Minimap can be turned off and on 2. There were guard rails in Wii on RR 3. There was a shell on that rainbow road when you didn’t have any idea what hit you 4. Tour tracks are weird, I agree with you on that, but you weren’t lapping anyone. The directions change every lap (which I HATE) so the people you thought you were lapping that were driving at you were on a previous lap 5. The first shock that you had no idea what happened you thought you “malfunctioned” was indeed a shock 6 is a prediction: they will release a MK8 Definitive Edition before a whole new game. Definitive will have everything from Wii U, everything from Switch and then more DLC on top of that 7. Iggy had a bomb at 8:28 8. Boomerangs can be thrown backwards in a similar manner to how shells (and bombs) could be thrown backwards in Wii 9. “That thing” at 7:47 is just another thing you run into in hover mode that gives you a boost 10. If you’re already pissed at normal 8 Deluxe, STAY AWAY FROM ONLINE. It’s WORSE.

So the tracks that change routes every lap are the city tracks from Mario Kart Tour. In that game, every new city track has 3 variants. They’re all on the same map, but with different routes, as a way to explore the cities. What they did with those tracks in this game is combine all their variants together by having the route change every lap. They do the same with Kalimari Desert and Piranha Plant Cove since those tracks also have different variants in that game. Even Peach Gardens, which didn’t have different variants in Tour, but they added a new route to that track on the 3rd lap in this game. I like the idea of route changing because it lets a track have more to offer.
