I believe this means that perhaps certain characters or the kart you pick will provide some sort of ability while racing, and they are teasing that by showing Mario getting a form of extended boost.

One way to pad out the roster for a 24 player race is more crossover characters. Link and Zelda, Olimar and Louie, Isabelle and Tom Nook, Samus Aran, The squid sisters, Off the Hook, and Deepcut, or if splatoon 4 is a launch title you could even have the players Turfling as a character. And of course Miis will probably fill out a ton of space too.

I wouldn't mind something like a fuel mechanic where different vehicles have a different amount of fuel and you actually have to go in to pit stops to refuel or find fuel items to keep you going. I don’t think the race will change every lap, my guess is that each race will have alternate forms that way when you do a race a second time the track will be different, and perhaps have a different time and weather format. This is how most modern racing games work, like wreckfest.

I feel the same way, it seems like anti-gravity won’t be included when analyzing the bikes in this new installment. They’re completely different from the ones in Mario Kart 8. The wheels are supported on both sides, unlike in Mario Kart 8, where they were only supported on one side to allow room for the wheel rotation.

The characters in the teaser are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, all of their baby counterparts, DK, Pauline, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, Birdo, Koopa, Dry Bones, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Wario, Waluigi, King Boo, and Shy Guy. I thought that one at 3:41 was Lakitu as well, but I think it's actually just Koopa, because the rest of the characters add up to 24, and they're all definitely in there.

If they're sticking to Mario characters, they will definitely have a more diverse roster than this. I'd expect Diddy Kong at least, and for more picks to round out the roster with some more medium and large characters, Dry Bowser and Funky Kong are great picks, and I'd consider Kamek and maybe a base game return for Wiggler. Obviously Lakitu could also be in, but they aren't in the trailer, I'm sure of it. Koopalings may return as DLC (but I honestly hope they don't come back at all, which is probably copium).

SRB2K & RR do have up to 16 players (and modded up to 50) and it does become very hectic once all 16 player slot have been filled out. What changes mostly is that you trend to get mario karted way more often because instead of the pack being bigger, it's denser, meaning that more items are floating around, you really don't get bumped as much, that depends of track width. I liked DK on the movie, not so much over here, looks a bit funny. Even if they add more characters we know like always, most of the people trend to drift into a select few combos. Ring Racers introduced Item boxes like in Diddy kong racing but were exclusive to certain paths or were shoved to the side of the road, working in tandem with the regular item boxes, It would be cool if they implemented something like that

I actually think that there are two different tracks in this one map that was shown. For one the arrow things are on the left, like the one we have seen. And for the other one the arrows are on the right blocking the dirt road and it's night. It could be that what track is chosen is random or these are just two distinct tracks.

The Map looks huge. I’m definitely gonna buy a switch 2. Also I hope there is a story mode campaign with a more narrative structure. That would be cool. It doesn’t have to be deep just a cool campaign.

I think there’ll be a VS Mode toggle that changes the number of racers on the track like: “23”, “12”, “8”, then “Off”.

Or maybe you can have tracks that interchange between laps or have an option to customize where you can race on one version every lap or add the one you like to be first or last. I think that’ll be a versus mode feature if it happens. Most likely it’ll randomize laps in Grand Prix.

If (assume) the condition of track will change, as it may rain or snow. Different cars and sets would have different performances... I have an idea: put some pitstops at the starting straight, and players could do modifications for their cars and get better speed. Just like real racing.

The double number of racers make me think that at one point, this was an F-Zero game but it fell short compared to GX on the GC which has 30.
