Those last few turns were something else. Dry Bones refusing to use his Flutter Orb twice, obstructing a star spawn location, rolling a dud in the duel with Yoshi. He did pretty much everything possible to specifically screw over you. Kind of amazing.

If I did the math right, it was a 50/50 chance to win going into bonus stars. There are 20 different combos of bonus stars that can be picked - 10 end up with you winning and the other 10 with Yoshi winning

I came to that conclusion as well during the end of the stream and after. Super unfortunate it even came down to a coin toss considering the utter bafflement of Dry Bones refusing to purchase a star.

I saw someone once the idea of the random Bonus Stars likely comes from the devs wanting to make it more, well random, and more likely for lower ranked players to catch up. Cause a skilled player in prior entries could easily nab Minigame and Coin, for obvious reasons, which could be a problem if said person was already in 1st, basically making the Bonus Stars worthless to the other players. Same applies to Orb star in 6 to a lesser degree. With the random stars in 7, you can't just rely on Bonus Stars in endgame because you might not get the ones you would have one, which in a way can encourage better play. It's also likely the reason why stuff like the Red Star exists, since it can be a boon to a player who wasn't doing hot. And since there are so many possible Bonus Star combinations, you can't just rely on one strategy to guarantee Bonus Star(s) meaning you either have to focus on a few or all of them and risk stretching yourself thin and getting none. So I don't mind the random Bonus Stars since it can make them less predictable and more of a wild card. (Some of the ones in later games get pretty silly though)

It's almost definitely why it did it yeah. I'm really glad Superstars gives you the option to pick random bonus stars or the "classic" lineup though, I REALLY hope that can continue to be a tradition going forward assuming they stick to the current format.

I would love if one day there were a remake of 6 and 7 created as a package deal, with new day/night events for the 7 boards, and bowser time events for the 6 boards, and you could decide to play with either or both. imo 6 and 7 are easily the best games in the series.

Wow, that game was... brutal. I know it's easy to say in hindsight, but you should've gone for that late game duel space. I know it's the choice I would've gone for in the moment because when you got there, in my head I was screaming "PICK THE DUEL! IT'S YOUR ONLY CHANCE!!!"

I think, with the blooper happening, as long as you remember that the chests CANT make an x near the end so each chest goes to the diagonal, it helps. Then, think of it in terms of the animation as opposed to looking at the chest. If horizontal or vertical, it goes to the corresponding tentacle on the opposite side.

I bet the CPUs are programmed to not know what each character space is. They probably weigh it as much as a red space in their decision making.

Wow that was so brutal, it's as if the CPUs are aware here. Near the end I was crossing my fingers and biting my fingers... that was so suspenseful. For such a simple board it was chaotic. You won that game in the sense you gave it such a hard fight. I had a feeling that Yoshi was the one.

The only difference was there was not a single point where the AI was moving with me, and even though we didn't make mistakes with the route, we lost the minigame. I don't know why they do that

Identifying luck always makes me want to go back and play Mario Party again, so I go on, boot it up, set the CPUs to hard and then give up because it genuinely feels like you're fighting against RNG more than you're fighting against the CPUs, it always feels like everything that happens on the board is literally the worst possible outcome for you the player every time and so far I'm not being proved otherwise 😂😂😂
