Mario Party DS and Island Tour just needed one cartridge in order to be played with four people. There were also no limitations so you would just need the 3DS-systems for each player. The game has potential but after so many mediocre Mario Party games it is hard to be optimistic.

I love it when they make it so that you only need only ONE cartridge to have fun. For sure, Hands down, the best time they EVER had done a one cartridge for all deal was with Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. If you had 2 3DS's and only 1 Cartridge, you can STILL do a full scarescraper run with 4 people thanks to it's online functionality and multiplayer support. And if for some reason you decide to stop playing with the person who has the cartridge, you can STILL Play Online without the need of the cartridge OR connection to the host if your 3DS hasn't been turned off! It would always be the last game we played because my friend would never turn off his 3DS when he left, so he could still play online with me when he had gotten home! And again, he only needed my cartridge for a few minutes to do so. Man, That game is my favorite game on the 3DS for that reason.

I just hope there are other modes. In the toadrush, every mini game seems to be a boss mini game. If that is the case, how many can there be? I can't imagine there being that many mini games in that mode. So, like Bowser Party mode in 10, it'll get boring quick due to lack of variety.

They do have a purpose! Each character has their own abilities and a special dice block. For example: Donkey kong has a "Brawny Dice Block" which allows him to roll the following nombers: 0,0,0,0,10 or 10.

Yes, there are regular minigames! :) Acornucopia and a cookie minigame were shown at At the Treehouse. They're triggered when a player interacts with a coin balloon.

MP: Island Tour and DS require only 1 cart for 4 player gameplay in most modes. This includes all boards and mini games with some modes removed and others added.

Well luckily it ended up to have download play, which yeah it’s not the best but at least people don’t need to own a copy.

Also, in Mario Party 10, they stated that Bowser party was the "main mode" of the game. But it also had a party mode to it. Maybe they will do the same with this and make a normal-ish party mode too! I'm sure that this Toad Mode isn't the only big mode in the game.

Well I heard that the toad mode is just one game mode. I think it does support download play and the characters you recruit are actually able to help you in the boss battles ( get more points with more of them), and each character has different dice that give advantage. I think if two land on the same board it triggers a dual. Dual goomba is back and create the winner gets most coins and so forth. It actually has me pretty intrigued and I may get it:)

Hey Josh just to let you know Mario Party 3 only had 1 boss because Dual Mode doesn't count as boss battles because the only debut that had boss battles was in DS and just to be clear that the mode you where referring to that has boss battles was Toad Scramble Mode which is a hole different mode and we still didn't see Party Mode still.

in Mario Party DS you only need 1 cartage to access and play everything in multiplayer. I don't see why Star Rush would be any different

ive actualky enjoyed every mario party game thats come out. (yes even 7 and 8 which were weird). but i usually play mario party with my younger cousins (6 - 12) and it just feels weird playing Mario Party 10 with them because this isnt the mario party i grew up with so its just weird for me to see them growing up with those being the games they know the series as.

My thoughts: I love the movement in this one. For the past 3 Mario Parties, the game has become super linear with almost no choices. This takes the movement choosing to the next level. The character gaining is interesting, and I look forward to seeing how that effects the game. I'm so glad to see stars back instead of (shudders) Mini-Stars, as that gives hope for the future of the game as a whole. They did say this was the main mode, so I'm interested to see what other modes, if any big ones, they add. Overall, this does not feel like Mario Party, but it feels like a better direction to go in than 9, 10 and Island Tour, especially for a handheld. While I do want a proper followup to the surprisingly great Mario Party DS, I feel that this, while not a "Mario Party" in the sense you would want it, is still going to be a fun game and won't tarnish the series as 9 and 10 did.

So far I'm amazed by it. It has everything that I wanted in a Mario party game with some changes that I have no problem with it. It could be better or worse when it launches and I might change my opinion but so far I'm amazed by it. And I agree with you if they make a Mario party game on the NX hopefully it's the one that the hardcore Mario party fans want.

I just hate what they're doing with Mario Party as a whole. I'll keep saying it till my dying breath but the only reason why everybody got bored of the old playstyle was that there were way too frequent releases of basically the same game and every MP, in hopes of justifying its existence, added something that just made one turn last ages. I just wished for a Mario Party 1 with zero items, zero shops, nothing but rolling your dice and that's it. I also hate the everybody's a winner mentality. Not to get competitive or anything but if somebody is better than the others, he or she should win. Oh well, at least this game gives us more Mario amiibos. All I need now is a Toadette amiibo.

In mario party ds you still need 4 four systems but you just need one copy of the game because the other systems download it temporarly. I don't know if that still happens in mario party island tour.

larger Mario Party DS pyramid mode + boss battles w/ toad, toad, toad, & toad. That's all I know about the game so far. Out of the few Mario parties I've played Mario Party 2 is the best & way better than "toad party boss rush"

Josh, I read that because the company that worked on the mario party series is no longer developing games anymore. Nintendo lost the rights to that actual formula. So that's why it started changing completely.

It doesn't look bad, I think that I will enjoy it if I play it, but it doesn't do anything to make me interested in it, so I doubt I will pick it up. I hope they return to the old formula next time, even for handhelds, as Mario party ds showed they can do it, in my opinion, really well

The lack of innovative ideas and online in the series have been existing for quite a while. Especially I really don't understand why they keep shunning doing online. Tbh It gives me a bad impression that the dev team don't try hard to improve the series and just want to grab easy money.

I really liked mario party ds. It had a fun little story and some really original boards. The minigames and the boss battles where fun and you could even collect some trophies. Then mario party island tour came out. I didn't like that game. I didn't like that you have to go in a straight line. I had some fun minigames but after 2 hours was I done with it and never played it again. Now... there is mario star rush with a box art that is copied from a SpaghettiOs can. I watched the gameplay of it on treehouse life. It didn't look like there where many real minigames to play. Only boss battles. The boards are small and there in nothing really happening. Why can't there be a many game after each turn? Why are there no big boards to play on? And most important... Where are the fun minigames?!? The minigames made the game special. Why nintendo? Why can't you make games as good as you did in the past? I just want a fun to play mario party that doesn't take just 1 hour or less to complete. Why nintendo do you remove fun stuff and replace it with new things?! This is the same with paper mario.

I'll paste it here: I'm just going to say my own opinion so don't hate me. I love Nintendo and I think they have made some amazing games but.. They're not really making "new games" anymore. And they're not like, doing what people want. I mean come on there has been 10 Mario Party's and they've just got worse each time.. And I'm pretty sure there is already one on the 3ds? I mean does anyone really care about having a new Mario Party on the 3DS..? And also with the new amiibos.. I mean I've never really liked amiibos much because you have to pay extra to get more out of a game. It's cool to do that with dlcs, like with the Mario kart one, but I just think that amiibos are overpriced and it's just kinda stupid really. But what Nintendo games do you guys actually want? Because I know what I want. I want there to be a brand new Animal Crossing game, not like happy home designer or amiibo festival that nobody cares about, a real game!! I also want there to be a pikmin 4, because pikmin is amazing!! I even cried at the end of pikmin 3. They say pikmin 4 is in progress but there has been no news yet. I really want it on NX because the Wii U is kinda dead now. And I want the next animal crossing to be on NX. In fact all these game ideas I have they should all be on NX, a new console a new start. There definitely needs to be a Mario kart 9 or Mario kart NX or something too! And it would be could if they could re event Mario party for the NX too, like how it used to be. The first Mario party is probably the best (in my opinion). Also you know what I think would be a great idea? Well does anyone remember Mario and luigi: bowsers inside story? Well that has got to be one of my favourite Mario games ever! Imagine a game like that being re invented on the NX or the 3DS! They also need to make a super Mario Galaxy 3 and a super Mario sunshine 2! I think Kirkby games have gone down hill too. There needs to be another games like kirbys epic yarn or kirbys adventure. Nintendo really needs to fix these things. And I have one final thing to say before I go crazy. A new Tomodachi Life on the NX! Imagine that on a big tv screen! I know I ended up going a bit off topic of Mario Party star Rush but just wanted to say that^
