If i had to guess, Kanya (the last spark huntress) is probably some sort of discarded spark hunter leader prototype, a beta version of Edge. Cursa probably got rid of her because of how... Erratic she seems to be. Physical similarities aside, remember that what makes Edge special is her free will which Cursa gave her so that she'd be able to command the hunters. If Kanya was meant to be the leader, Cursa probably gave her free will aswell, but it backfired as it turned out she was uncontrolable, and instead of killing her, Cursa just sent her to some random secluded planet. That does leave two questions : what did Cursa use to create Kanya ? And why does she seem to focus on Mario especially ? I had theorized that Cursa merged Rabbid DNA with Bowser's DNA to create Edge (Darkmess bowser confirms Cursa has access to Bowser's DNA, and it explains why Edge looks like some kind of Rabbid Bowser). If that theory is correct and Kanya really is a proto-Edge, she was made from Bowser's dna too. And no one wants to gut Mario more than Bowser...

Edit : SPOILER According to the Eshop desc, It looks like the DLC takes place BEFORE the Assault on Cursa's Stronghold, so she could Indeed be the New Leader

Actually, let me go a little further. What if Kanya isn't based on Bowser's DNA, but his son's! Notice how playfully she behaves and how her boss fight involves a giant mecha suit. How did Bowser Junior fight Team Mario in the first game? With a giant mecha suit.

funfact: Every Spark Hunter is fused with a certain mario enemy. Midnite is fused with a Boo, or King Boo. Bedrock is fused with a Thwomp. Daphne is fused with the Naval Piranha, which explains the large plant-like tentacles. Kanya is fused with a Chain Chomp and a Bullet Bill, explaining her sharp teeth, and her hot-headed temper, and since her colors remind me of King-Bomb-omb's. It is unknown what Edge is fused with, but I guess a Hammer Bro, but with a sword other than a hammer.

I want to say I really want Edge to have her own adventure but it's not because I like her. Reasons: 1. She is very unique and should have some unique adventures. 2. She is not created by the heroes but a villain. She is a villain-created turned-good Rabbid. 3. She always focuses on her friends and don't want them to get hurt and also her Blade so this adventure will let her choose between the two things that she loves the most. Please Ubisoft, I will do anything to make this happen.
