Wait, wasn't the first game to feature Mario's voice "Mario Teaches Typing?" That one came out for DOS in 1991 if I recall. Ronald Ruben was actually the voice actor in that one, though. Great (and informative) video as always!

That is very true. This game though was the first one to feature Charles Martinet as Mario's voice actor. :)

Actually, not many people know that Charles Martinet's first role as Mario is... Super Mario Bros pinball by Gotiieb. I'm not kidding.

Mario Hotel - Marc Grue. Mario had a voice in '94. Super mario 3 adventures - walker boone (1988) And Charles Voiced Mario once in "Real Time Mario" in 1992

It's always weird remembering there were licensed Mario games on the PC, and it only begs the question "Why did Nintendo turn down ID Software back in the day if they were willing to let Interplay do this?" Granted I'm glad we got Commander Keen out of that deal, but c'mon Nintendo - some folks bust their ASSES making a PC version of Mario 3 which required them to do things PCs weren't capable of at the time and risking their jobs to do so as they had to literally "Borrow" company computers and you're just like "Yeah, no, we don't want Mario to have PC games" and then a few years later someone says "Let's make some bad casual games with Mario" and you are like "YEAH, that's a great idea!" You make no sense, Nintendo.

***** Well, from the offset it would have just been a remake of Mario 3, as that's what they did once Carmack created the adaptive tile refresh process that allowed smooth scrolling screens on PC (Ahh, the days when PCs were HORRIBLE compared to consoles... Then again PCs weren't made for games back then, really.) and that's what they submitted to Nintendo, a tile for tile recreation of Mario 3 that they slaved over somewhat illegally (Again, they "borrowed" company computers for the project.) - but they were already working on their own side ideas for a unique Mario game that later evolved into the base for Commander Keen after Nintendo declined to publish the Mario 3 port saying they were "Impressed" but were only interested in publishing titles on their own systems. ...hehe sorry if I'm getting wordy on the topic, I'm a huge ID Software fan and have read "Masters of Doom" like 3 times haha.

OMG I had this! Ordered from a "book fair" in like 2nd grade. I loved it! I still remember how Mario said "little toadies" in Go Fish. This was also how I learned how to play Go Fish, Dominoes, and Checkers. I never thought it was bad or annoying but I also haven't played it since I was like 8 or 9. But even then, I noticed Mario had the same voice he did in SM64 and at that young an age knew Charles Martinet's name from the Game Gallery credits!

This was my first Mario game. Had it on the Mac, it was called Mario's FUNdamentals. Loved it, played it all the time, learned backgammon.

I know other titles include it, but Super Mario 64ds includes a casino area with luigi as the dealer. It's a lot like this, but done well

true... it's a bad PC game but I was happy at the same time hearing the voice of Charles Martinet and that sorta didn't get me bored of playing because I love how he voice as him until I see Super Mario 64 where he managed to be the actor voice actor then, now, and hopefully in the future.

I thought that the 1st game to have his voice was Mario Teaches Typing where he appears as a Mario Head and if U watch the Mario Head KZbin Poops then U will recognize the Mario Head as soon as Mario Teaches Typing starts up and U can even watch him do all sorts of crazy stuff.

When I was in kindergarten and the hugest Mario fan who could not add two digit numbers, this game was my jam. I genuinely remember enjoying the hell out of it. As an adult I'm pretty sure it isn't as good as I remember, but I still don't think I'd go as far as to call it one of the worst Mario games ever made. Anyways good video.

The title is misleading. It's not his first voiced game, there was Hotel Mario, Mario Teaches Typing, etc, it was just the first mario game to feature Charles Martinet's voice.

Not to be "that guy" or be an asshole, just sending out a little info, but Charles Martinet actually voiced Mario in the Mario Teaches Typing rerelease. Check it out, it's freaky and the terrifying 3-D Mario model is a meme due to it's low quality and weird choice of improv dialogue.

What hold on everybody you do not understand back in the 90s we liked gameplay over graphics we didn't care that it wasn't as high resouloution the problem with video games today is their 70 percent movie 30 percent actually playing one game that's newer and good though is evolve it's a bit different from a lot of the same games on Xbox one before even Halo multiplayer we had GoldenEye 64 this is gonna sound bad but fallout Mass effect battlefield and call of duty are based off GoldenEye 64 Turox 64 and even Halo I take quality over a movie
