It's-a him, Mario! A man who truly needs no introduction. This mustached, red capped Italian is easily the most recognizable video game character all across the globe. Heck, the name of this channel is 1upBinge so clearly the impact that Mario has made is still being felt after all these years.
Whether due to his heroism, his practice as a doctor or even throwing a really sweet party, everyone in this universe knows who Mario is and has likely interacted with him on a few occasions. His fame has also allowed Mario to develop relationships with the many other characters, with some of said relationships naturally being healthier than others. Today we're taking a look at who gets along best with the portly plumber and which characters cause Mario the most stress.

I disagree with one thing in your rankings. Yoshi should have been placed at #3 (or the bronze medal) for healthy relationships with Mario. You see - Yoshi has helped Mario far, *_far_* more and many more times than either F.L.U.D.D. or Cappy.

Awesome video once again. Although, I will say it’s weird for a good guy to not have a grey area when it comes to relationships. Bowser is a more understandable case, as he’s a villain. Friend or foe. Luigi has a grey area, in terms of 2 of his relationships, Starlo & Wario. Starlo (close to the Healthy) becomes more friendly with Luigi, while Wario (close to the Toxic) doesn’t directly impose Luigi. Mario not having a grey area is weird. Honestly, I thought that with DK, he would have been in the grey area. I was kind of shocked to see he’s in the toxic section, but I do understand that he fights Mario more than he has helped him. But I agree is that DK is close to the grey, thanks to having more friendly interactions with the plumber in recent years, even if it’s not enough to completely overshadow their original rivalry yet. I believe Mario will also be DK's least toxic relationship when we get a Donkey Kong Relaitonships: Healthy to Toxic video.

Nice list. Though Yoshi should be slightly higher and DK should be lower healthy. Mario “dropping” Yoshi off cliffs are cherry-picked comments, and really, it’s up to the player to decide if they want to do it, similar to how the player decides to use Mario to drop the baby penguin off of the cliff in SM64. And aside from DK’s rivalry with Mario in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series (which is friendly/out of slight misunderstandings), both of them are friends more often than not. Donkey Kong even helps out Mario and his friends in the adventure modes of the Mario Party series and Mario Super Sluggers. Here is how I rank the characters from healthy to toxic, based on the list (in particular order): Healthy: Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Rosalina, Pauline, Fludd, Cappy, Daisy, Toad, Toadsworth, Toadette, Donkey Kong Toxic: Wario, Bowser Jr, Kamek, Bowser, King Boo

Mario, and Yoshi are a great duo in the games. There's a reason why he would need the cute, and loyal green dinosaur on his adventures. Yoshi can go around certain things that Mario can't without getting hurt, such as spiky enemies. Though I do prefer Luigi, and Yoshi together a bit more because they're the two green machine sidekicks that Mario could never ask for to have on his side.❤💙🦖😌

Yes I'll agree in the case of March of the Minis and Mini Land Mayhem it does seem malicious on surface level, but once he was defeated, he got what he wanted (Pauline's affection for the mini DK toy he offered her, a mini toy of his own), Mario and Pauline forgave him and they get along just fine in the end. Even then, the room he locked her in was pretty nice, with tea tables and food. Compare that to Bowser locking Peach in a fucking cage suspended from the ceiling in a dungeon in his castle. Hell, in the case of Minis March Again and Tipping Stars, him kidnapping Pauline was completely staged and both of them colluded on it

Mario and Luigi are the true dynamic duo. Sorry Batman and robin you don’t deserve the title anymore. The brothers relationship is actually symbiotic when you think about it, Mario loves adventures, but loves him even more when his little brother is by your side so when Mario gets to adventure with Luigi, that instantly puts a smile on his face, ask for Luigi Mario gives him courage. Luigi knows that he can do anything when he’s alongside his brother, even when, facing the most formidable of foes. And together Mario and Luigi can do far more than either of them could do alone they are true super brothers.

Like Mario, Like Luigi Their Relationship with King Boo is the Most Toxic. Mainly the Difference is that Mario's relationship with Luigi is Gold while Luigi's side is the Bronze. Also their Princess Girlfriends are different too. Luigi's Relationship with Daisy is the Gold level of Healthy while Mario's relationship with Peach is the Silver Metal of healthy.

If I had any powers, I would use them to trap any villain I hate in my favorite movie collection in magical paintings and leave them in my favorite protagonists' custodies, so they won't be harmed by their enemies ever again, and only they, the heroes, can free the villains from their magical painting imprisonments. The things that Mario has done to Yoshi (as an adult) are not canon in Mario lore. Those things are only done by players who *_choose_* to do them to Yoshi (while playing as Mario), and the same thing applies to Yoshi's and Luigi's relationship with each other (though to a lesser degree, depending on the video game that's in question there).

In the beginning King Boo was created especially in Luigi's Mansion, but the creators of Nintendo decided to introduce him too in the Mario Games, and so they made a second version only for Mario Games and they made a new design for the original King Boo in the Luigi's Mansion Games. You can blame the programmers for the issue with dropping Yoshi. Mario on his own wouldn't do that. As for the issues with D.K., leave Cranky out of it. He and Mario never met. Jumpman is Mario and Luigi's grandfather.

I agree! In the Mario & Luigi series, they often hug whenever one of them rescues the other. In Luigi’s Mansion 2 and 3, Mario is proud of his brother who risked his life to rescue him from king Boo. In Yoshi’s Island and Yoshi’s new Island, Mario and Luigi were already so close that baby Mario was able to feel baby Luigi’s present after he got kidnapped by Kamek. Finally, at the beginning of Kingdom Battle (You know, the game with the Rabbids), Mario tries twice to save Luigi.

@@Superemie401 exactly. Just goes to show that when Luigi is in trouble Mario will never hesitate to save him. Luigi is just the same in the Luigi's Mansion games even if he's scared of the danger ahead. There's even times where they get competive in the sports games. Like how in Mario Power Tennis Mario steps on Luigi's shoe in his winning animation but that's just Mario messing around with him since that's what siblings do. Another example is in Mario and Sonic Rio 2016 (Wii U version) if you read Mario's bio card it says he and Luigi are competing to see who can win the most gold medals. But again that's what siblings do. No matter what the Mario bros bond can never be broken

I'm gonna have to disagree on Mario and DK being toxic, and definitely healthier than Wario by a long shot. If we're talking the original DK, that placement is absolutely fitting. But modern DK is a completely different story. Even at worst in the Mario VS DK games, the premises of the stories are just over dumb shit. Yeah DK does go apeshit because he didn't get what he wants (March of the Minis, Mini Land Mayhem) but once he's defeated, he, Mario, and Pauline get along just fine like nothing happened. Hell, in Minis March Again and Tipping Stars, him kidnapping Pauline was completely staged, not of any malicious intent. As for the sports games, yes they are rivals, but when shit gets serious, at worst DK puts him through a test before willingly joining him to kick Bowser's ass, as seen in Sluggers and Tennis Aces. While he was on Wario's team against Mario during the opening game on both baseball games, at least he didn't join Wario and Waluigi alongside Bowser to fuck with the tennis match in Power Tennis. And at the end of Sluggers, he even helped Mario with the fireworks, while Wario and Waluigi pulled that Bullet Bill prank on them. He's to Mario like Knuckles is to Sonic, with Wario being the Shadow in comparison

I would say Mario and Yoshi should be considered a "Grey Area relationship" at best! If there weren't any good moments to their relationship, it would be considered toxic, because of just how many times Mario has thrown Yoshi down a pit that is either bottomless, or is full of lava! Say, why do you consider Mario and Yoshi's relationship healthy in spite of all the toxicity that there is in their relationship.

The brother le bonding between Mario and Luigi at best I can describe how Sonic can tell us are if they were plumbers and brothers some judges on Mario occasionally such as when he did not bring Luigi to The Vacation at delphino Plaza but ultimately I just narrow it down tomorrow's concern for Luigi's safety the only big judgment on Mario is when he bowser's Castle and had to use the toads with their air balloon to fly but that's maybe Luigi's just mistake for closing the door
