I played the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. As a fan of Mario and Sonic I really loved this series. I really wish they make a new entry for this series soon

It wasn’t surprising since 2018 was missing too and the 2020 rollout was a mess. The only option for a new M&S game is in 2028 and even then it isn’t guaranteed. Very sad…

It's really hard to say at this point if we don't get another Olympics especially since Paris 2024 is in July, it's not IMPOSSIBLE for a game to come out after the Olympics are done but i'm pretty sure we would've heard it by now Right now Sega seems to be mainly focused on Sonic x Shadow Generations and Sonic Movie 3 and then Nintendo has their own projects There's not even an official Paris 2024 video game out there and we've had those in the past as well as the Mario and Sonic games, so it's hard to say, very weird right now

Honestly I've always been a fan of this series, Mario & Sonic are two of my favorite characters ever, so having a dedicated crossover series for them was really cool to me as a kid, even though I think a RPG or Platformer would be more interesting, I still don't mind the olympics either

Imo good! The series was nothing but a waste of development and resources that could have gone into interesting sonic spin-offs. Plus let’s be real Nintendo was the only one who benefited from the series. A Mario and sonic is a stupid idea to begin with since the series couldn’t be more different, Mario is just about “saving their girls” and sonic games are more about saving the world. Mario is fairly simple with no story with all the characters being mute, sonic does more ambitious stories with very vocal characters. It just wouldn’t work.

It's worth mentioning that the (3)DS games were always completely different from their Wii(U) counterparts. London 2012 on the 3DS had the most sports in the series and a pretty cool story mode. Most if not all the DS/3DS games had very decent story modes actually

I remember Hero’s Showdown!! I loved it! The devastating moments where your team member is stolen from you to the other team are thrilling 😆 I don’t remember exactly how it goes, but I love how the mode worked. Sadly Rio and Tokyo are the only Olympics I’ve been able to play, aside from the demo of London on the 3DS (which I loved). I love Rio quite a lot, but I’m unable to play it anymore. Left with Tokyo, playing it mainly makes me miss Rio, so I haven’t played it for a long time 😞

Your statements on the Tokyo Olympic Games is a bit similar to mine. I find it fun, but it feels oddly...corporate, for lack of a better word. For comparison, Rio 2016 is a noticeably flawed game, but is filled with a surprising amount of depth and offers a festive vibe throughout. I feel invested in that iteration. In either case, Mario & Sonic is a series that I enjoy. London certainly was the peak with its Dream Events and London Party modes, but I also dig Vancouver (on DS), Rio, and Tokyo. I can live without Beijing and Sochi. Whether or not Mario & Sonic will return is a mystery. If not...then I have a nice collection of games to fall back on.

Literally Rouge as well. I love Blaze, but Rouge has more game presence than her and her being benched is crazy. Hopefully Pauline’s addition to the Mario spinoff will ease Nintendo’s fear of Rouge’s chest 😭. And we can have all three girls playable

Unfortunately not, the Paris Olympics are this month and usually Sega releases the Olympic Games 6 months before the real Olympics. So no game this year or in 2026 due to the Winter Games License. So our only hope is 2028 Unless they shadow drop it next week for some reason lol…

@@ShyGuyKart I didn’t even bother getting either Wii U Rio or Tokyo cause playing Diddy for only one event would only get me just that content of their respective games meaning just Rugby I wouldn’t play anything else so that idea of that would make me feel bored and wasting $60 just playing one event for one character, it’s gets worse when a friend on Miiverse was excited for Larry that I told him the truth and he decided to cancel his preorder

Things to note about the Tokyo games. They not only made a Mario and Sonic Olympic game, but a Sonic Olympic mobile game, and M&S Arcade game, and a Official Olympic game with real ish people. And also Covid.

It's a shame this series seems to be over now. I really liked the London, Vancouver and Rio games. Sochi was also alright. Didn't play Tokyo tho because nothing really new happened. I guess what killed the series was really the lack of innovation. Especially the character roster should have changed more. Why didn't they add full on new characters instead of these Guest characters?

The London 2012 entry was my first and favourite in the series. I loved playing the dream events and London party with siblings and friends. The music is absolutely BANGIN', and the UI is so colourful and lively. Vancouver 2010 was my next entry, and my next favourite. Loved the events, but didn't play it nearly as much due to the absence of a party mode. I did get all the other ones (except Tokyo 2020), but they weren't nearly as memorable.

I think they're coming back sooner than we think because... Paris is the next Olympics coming up this year or next summer. I mean, M&S did releas theirs a year early for Tokyo due to the pandemic, so either Nintendo and Sega are going to reveal it out of nowhere, or they're reserving it for the next console next year!
