Mario Speedrunner Reacts to Jaiden Animations - "I Attempted Impossible Mario" | She Went LEGEND...

Today @jaidenanimations is back at it again with "I Attempted Impossible Mario". In my I Attempted Impossible Mario reaction, I use my Mario Speedrun and randomizer skills to watch the Jaiden Animations kaizo Mario challenge!
This isn't Jaiden's first video game challenge. She's done Pokemon nuzlocke challenges in "I Attempted my First Pokemon Nuzlocke" and "I Attempted a Pokemon Platinum Nuzlocke". In my reaction today, like my "I Attempted a Speedrun (and got a world record)" reaction, I'm going to look at what Jaiden Animations did right, and where she slipped up.

The reason that Jaiden (and you) gave for liking Kaizo is really similar to why I lose souls games (and especially Sekiro). Every single time you attempt a fight or an encounter in Sekiro you learn at least one new piece of information (even if you don't realise it yet) and on top of that slowly build your muscle memory to the point that once you're finally at the stage where you can beat it that you've damn near MASTERED it; you've got it down to a SCIENCE. I came into the fight against Lady Butterfly completely clueless. I was dying in like, 2 hits for about an hour. Gradually I started getting hit less and less and found more and more openings for damage to the point that I started CANCELLING her attacks and flinging her into a satisfying unique animation that basically tells my gamer brain "Whoa, good job!". Fast-forward however many extra hours it took me to reach my apex and I finished the fight taking only a SINGLE careless hit and left feeling extremely accomplished. I recorded the whole thing on my PS4 and even today when I look back at it I'm just like "...*I* did that?" It's such an awesome feeling.

It's super cool to see you do another Jaiden reaction since it's what led me to your channel! There's something super awesome about Jaiden's go-getter attitude where she just dives right in to things she finds cool and interesting :) Also the person talking with Jaiden for a small portion of the video isn't actually the Kaizo runner (like you mentioned in 15:18) who coached her, but her friend Alpharad who also makes videos on youtube (which are also super entertaining)! I believe the original Kaizo was made as a prank. (I'm not 100% on this) But people have been attracted to the challenge. And it have sort of evolved from the mean "ruin your day" type deal, to making good "games" that are incredibly hard. I also believe that the Kaizo community... or what you might call them... have made this into something everyone can enjoy... as a viewer at least. Sidenote: Ryukhar (Not the voice you hear early on) did a react style video himself, on one of his side channels. ("Ryu") I figured that this might be of interest to you. :) I could also add. There is a tradition with some of these hacks. They name them after other runners. So this is a "hack" that was dedicated to Ruykhar. (And apparently he was inspired to set a new world record in it, after her run... It's somewhere over 15 minutes. I think it was closer to 15 than 16.) Edit: PS. If you watch the WR video. You can basically see the entire game in about 15-17 minutes. :D

I am both impressed with Jaiden's tenacity and ability to learn, and Ryu's skill as a teacher. Like not everyone's able to teach, and he's clearly got the temperament for it. But this is definitely not to diminish Jaiden's accomplishment. I cannot fathom sticking through this.

As someone who played maybe a little bit too much of Super Mario World on my SNES as a kid, I can confidently say that the game allowing you to die before King Boo finishes dying from 3 hits is _not_ something that Kaizo did, but it's just how that enemy _actually_ works. It takes a little over a second after your 3rd hit for him to die, and if you manage to get yourself killed in that time, sucks to be you, go back and redo the whole thing again.

He picked what went in it. The name of it everything. It's basically an energy drink. But it's not a hard one like monster or coffee or anything of the sort. At 18:00 I think I've only been in that level of gaming hell a few times. Usually I just take a step back and try to come at again later when I'm rested, but there have been two cases, where I knew If I gave up, I'd have to go through far too much of it again. The first was when I was trying to do a secret puzzle in World of Warcraft for a mount. The puzzle required you to go into this procedurally generated maze that had like four alters in it somewhere each with their own color and four torches each with a different color flame. What you needed to do was grab a flame, which you could only carry one of at a time, and find the corresponding alter to bring it to, and do that for all four colors. Sounds simple right? Wrong! The maze is just one room repeated over and over again, just with some paths blocked off, so all the rooms look identical, the layout is random, and sort of multistoried so rooms can over lap with each other, and they never dead end they just loop, and when a flame is matched with an alter they both turn off so those rooms become unidentifiable from any other, and I swear the layout was changing as I went because no matter how hard I tried to make a map it would always stop making sense. It was a nightmare, a pure nightmare. The second time was very recently, since I just did the Path of Pain in Hollow Knight and I got super stuck on the last room. I had already spend like 2 hours doing the Path of Pain to get to that point. If I gave up there, I'd need to do the whole thing all over again. To make matters worse, they put a mini-boss fight at the end that will send you back to the beginning if you die in. They aren't hard to beat, but if your character is set up for platforming, you're not well set up for a combat encounter and they deal serious damage.

they are called kaizo blocks just because they are the stable of kaizo games. before kaizo got really popular basically ANY and i mean ANY jump could and would have a block. like of all kaizo tricks the invisible block was used more than any thing else. modern hacks dont use them as much because its fake difficulty and doesnt add to much other than annoyance. so fewer became more fun than every jump

The trick for running games almost constantly is really quite simple. Use an emulator, and set it up to recognize inputs from a PS2 controller. Play station controllers are the absolute most ergonomically friendly controllers ever made, and with anything PS2 or higher you have access to the twin stick feature in case you need to set up for some kind of game that uses twin stick controls.

Day 104 of asking Yobgs to react to dsmp character analysis such as Kindacoral's one on Niki Nihachu

Lmao i triedmaking a level that was very hard even I couldnt beat it for some time. First attempt, tried it all night up until 9 pm then left to watch the origami king lets plays. Day two, attempted it again, then finally I beat it. Day 3, I tried it again, took less attempts. It was called “A Major Test Of Skill” btw plus most of it was parkour (wall jumps, going around walls to wall jump on the other side…) There was a part I consistently failed on and I dubbed it “Four Jumps of Death” it consisted of 4 one block timed jumps and the sides were all spikes then there was p switch jumps twice in a row (luckily there was a door so i could reset) on both sides and parkour stuff and another section just after the FJoD where there was one block, one side was spikes and there was one block on the same side just low enough to wall jump while coming under the block (you cound stand on both of them :)) i had to nerf it by moving the checkpoint from just after that block under block wall jump to at the fjod lmao
