@@desu2000 there is nothing behind those doors, I was using cheats for the mod and somehow got those doors to open, and all it does is just kill you and put you in bomb bomb battlefield painting area (without the painting) entering the painting brings you back, and going outside peach's castle shows a pipe which brings you back to the start of this rom, there is nothing more in this rom that is significant other than what was shown already.

Yeah I was really a fan of this hack. I assume it was because B3313 came out and got more attention, but I still think this hack was amazing and I was excited to see the rest of it. Plus it being playable on real hardware made it more appealing than B3313, which is more emulator-focused. I know it's still in beta, but I think some things need to change, like: -The crawl space is too high and Mario can just walk under it without crawling; -A lot of doors are just blocked by a "strange force", meaning the game has a lot of things that are going to be added; -The game is basically a straight path to Bowser's Room, meaning that the switch is basically useless as of now; -After defeating Bowser He gives a Key (Star) that puts you out of the BoB painting, and after entering it it warps you to another painting (with WDW Skybox as image), that leads you to the main lobby (of this hack); -The Luigi painting doesn't work (this is probably why there is a Luigi version of this hack, too); -There are a lot of invisible walls blocking the stages. I guess you could've waited a bit 'til some stages were finished, but I know that most of us wanted this so bad.

This could prove to be a really cool tool for storytelling. You could add little secrets and hidden details to your hack for players to discover and contribute to an ARG format! [spoilers below] The bug itself is probably pretty well known, but I actually found myself a bit on-edge after collecting the star from Bowser and ending up back in the "vanilla" castle. I had some fun playing around with the out of place assets. I tried to collect as many stars as I could by normal gameplay (not using glitches to explore more of the castle, at this point I wasn't totally convinced I was "behind the scenes" and wanted to get the full experience). I was able to get enough stars from Peach's Secret Slide to gain access to the CCM room and was given a bit of a spook when I saw the paintings on the sides were replaced with the Luigi painting. (Likely just because you simply replaced the CCM painting with the Luigi texture). I jumped into the CCM warp expecting to just be taken back to the main area like the one in Whomp's Fortress, or the Luigi Painting inside, and was further spooked by instead being placed in a glitchy, much more unifinished-looking copy of the main hub world instead. As I explored the twisted halls, I was kind of expecting a jump scare or something of substance to be there. Considering I found nothing, it's clear this whole thing was just an unintended bug, but rather than completely "fixing" this, I think it would be a really cool idea to take advantage of it and use it to tell a deeper story!

oh i see, thanks for the clarification. the FLIPS tells me my NA mario 64 rom is incompatible though, do you know if this is intended for some sort of beta rom, the PAL version, etc.

@@HardDiskDog No, it's actually incompatible with all verisons BUT the US version, and as such your rom should be called baserom.us.z64. If it's not named that, try renaming it. Also, if your ROM doesn't have a .z64 extension then it's not going to work at all, so that could also be an issue. If neither of those are the issue, I suggest redownloading the ROM from a different place. The site I got mine from was the result of a quick google search for "super mario 64 .z64" and it was the top result, being a sites.google.com site (on the site, it's the Super_Mario_64_(U)_[!].zip). You'll have to rename it once you unzip the file. If you've already downloaded it from that site (by sheer luck) and the name matches, you might want to try redownloading it. I'm sure there are many other ways of doing it, this is just the way I got it to work. Hope this helps!

How to play: 1 - Google a .z64 file of a SM64 ROM 2- download rom patch from this video 3- extract contents of the zip file to a folder 4 - Open flips.exe > Click Apply Patch > Select either MarioBuild.bps or LuigiBuild.bps > select the .z64 ROM. This will create a .z64 file of the selected build 5- Hit save then play either MarioBuild.z64 or LuigiBuild.z64 in an emulator
