Here a tip for women, when your husband/partner comes home from work given him 30 minutes to decompress and move from work mode to home mode, then if you have something that you need to talk about with him you'll get cogent replies, launching into him the minute he steps through the door is a recipe for disaster. That 30 minutes is the ‘Nothing Box’.

Because women are just waiting at home for their partners to come home not doing anything else right? Did you escape from the 1950s? What does he have to decompress from? That office work is just so hard. I am constantly running my butt of trying to keep people alive and on a constant adrenaline high but please, tell me how his job is so stressful and he needs to decompress way more than I do.

@angelique82mon he asked for 30 minutes and that got so worked up ? No one said you don't work hard or are stressed. You do need a break and next time your discussing your needs I wouldn't run his demean his efforts or leval of stress. It sounded like you wanted to start a fight.

I think this is an accurate description of the nothing box, only if you use it to describe it to someone (women mostly) that don't have one. I cant say it is really nothing, it is more like everything is being thought about but from a dissociated state. In the nothing box you are thinking about everything and it acts like giving an unemotional advice to someone else. You look at the problems from afar. All of them. We say we are thinking of nothing when we are pulled out because we werent there long enough to glean anything. But I always find that when I come out on my own, it is me coming out with a solution that I didn't realize I was trying to find an answer to at that time.

Women find men selfish for running and hiding in their nothing box and leaving us to face the struggles of life alone. We have a box too. It's called the Dream Box. It has whatever we need right then, but can't have--peace and quiet, a vacation, time to spend on a hobby, a nap--whatever would make us happiest. But if we try to get in our box, responsibilities sucks us back out. Having every part of our brain connected means we cannot shut off our consciences like men can. Don't make the mistake of discussing the contents of the Dream Box with a man either. They will tear the box to shreds with cold reality. It is heartbreaking, because we want our significant other to work with us to make our box a reality, while they don't even want us in their box in the first place.
@aekelly5 жыл бұрын
Ouch!
@SCRaetz3 жыл бұрын
Sharing the Dream Box is fine in smaller increments. It's when the contents of the Dream Box become so heavy that we can't help but to interject how finances, boundaries, and life obligations will interfere with that dream. Us men would like to provide y'all with that dream, but not if it will sink our ship.
