Mark A. Jackson is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played as a point guard in the National Basketball Association NBA for 17 seasons, and was selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and the NBA All-Star Game in 1989. He played college basketball for the St. John's Red Storm and was selected by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 1987 NBA draft with the 18th overall pick. He played in the NBA for the Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, and Houston Rockets in a career spanning from 1987 to 2004. He ranks fourth in NBA history in career assists, and is the only player to record over 10,000 assists and 1,500 steals. After retiring from playing basketball, Jackson became a broadcast commentator for ESPN and ABC alongside his former coach Jeff Van Gundy and play-by-play man Mike Breen.

Don't take away from Coach Kerr's coaching achievements. Mark built a foundation, but couldn't get them to the next level. Based on Coach Mark's foundation, Kerr built on that. Mark has nothing to do with 4 championships, He just built the foundation.

@@BrotherWatsonofWattsWatsonProd bro do you realize how contradictory your statement is? You just commented Mark Jackson has nothing to do with the four championships, he just built the foundation. Im gonna leave you to think about that. You might want to revise that. Mark Jackson, after winning 51 games was fired, and was never given a chance which is puzzling to keep coaching despite that excellent record and to this day people are still puzzled by that but the reason he was fired is because at that time the Warriors had a gay man as team president and Mark as a devout Christian, whose beliefs on sexuality condemned homosexuality didn’t sit right with the gay team president. That’s why Mark was fired. Not because he couldn’t get them to the next level as a coach. Most people don’t know the backstory on why a successful NBA coach was fired immediately after winning 51 games, which is hard to do even today in the NBA

@@canwetalk1790 Absolutely not. My statement was balanced. You gave Mark credit for 4 championships, foolish. My statement was, he set up the foundation, which was a measured perspective. Reading comprehension and context are needed sir. Pat Riley as the Lakers coach turned the franchise around, brought in a winning culture, fans etc. So when Phil Jackson won his championships in LA afterwards, based on your warped logic, Pat Riley won those championships. Foolish.

Mark Jackson is one of the best coaches.the NBA has.ever seen!!!! And why.did they fire him from coaching and sportscasting? Doc Rivers is a great coach, but not a sportscaster. Mark got a raw deal!!!! Something stinks about this world!!!!

Mark Jackson built the Warriors and they fired him because of his beliefs. He's being blackballed because of his beliefs. The man has apologized fir what he said and it happened over a decaade ago. How long does a person have to pay for a mistake. But if you abusive, rapists or murder you get multiple opportunities in all these sports including the owner. This is why it so hard for me to watch sports anymore. Mark Jackson should be coaching right now and he should have championship ring. Kerr is good but I don't think he's better than Mark Jackson.

Wow I didnt know him and desiree divorce i've followed his career humm. He's a very good man he definately should be coaching in the league for sure somewhere and one or two of those 4 rings the warriors have definately belongs to mark for sure, for some teams it took 8 years to figure it out and win 1 okay. I salute and respect mark Jackson any day NY.❤Further the year mark went to the NBA I had just graduated from High school and on my way upstate NY to play ball. Things didnt workout as plan due to the injured foot -knee, and It was my decision not to go under the knife surgery for a while, for technology back then was not like today. Thou I ended up doing great on WST- NY, running with the bulls. And there I live nicely and their after. I salute and respect to the real grinders and to the ones that let nothing hold you back💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💯%-- --✌
