I think the first time I heard DEVO I was about 8 years old. They simply opened my head. Here in my country (Chile) we lived under a military dictatorship and what was playing on the radio was literally music from prehistory. I don't know how I could thank this wonderful man for all the good he planted in my mind. All those incredible sounds that are based on these pioneering devices in their time and now absolute classics. A few years ago I went to one of his concerts in Santiago and I was amazed, along with several friends of different ages. The sound was impeccable and Marck's voice remained like it was in the 80s. Thank you, Marck, for your creativity, your music, your love for music that you passed on to us. If it hadn't been for DEVO, honestly, I don't think I would have ever picked up a guitar or a keyboard to make music. Thank you.

I want a whole show where each episode Mark looks at a synthesizer in his collection and goes into the history of it, how he got it and stories about it

Ya, I knew that he was in to Synthesizers, but I had no idea that Bob Moog was Customizing Them for Him and he collects the older larger ones too. I just found that out about an hour ago...

Brilliant idea for a doorbell, a 15 key keyboard. Different friends coming over would each have a unique chord to play when they ring up. E for Edward, B for Bob, G for Glenda, etc.. Then I would avoid making friends with anyone whose name started with H or higher.

Well, if you have a 26-tone microtonal tuning system, you could have every letter from A to Z.

He was given an Ondioline! I found one for sale for £25,000! And his belonged to Pink Floyd!

Awesome to see all that sweet synth gear and see some of the stuff behind some of my favorite songs :) Devo is a huge influence on me musically, and I still love them. I am a fellow Ohioan and whenever I drive through Akron, I think of them.

I'm 777th, baby! From here to eternity! I love synths and Mark's music, especially his contribution to the _Crash Bandicoot_ original soundtracks... Also Devo. Thanks!

I hate to contradict Mark, but Del Shannon used a Clavioline on Runaway, not an Ondioline. The Calvioline can also be heard on Telstar by Joe Meek. Jean-Jacques Perry was a wizard on the Ondioline, there are youtube vids of him playing one!

I wonder who from Pink Floyd let Mark have something they were discarding.Maybe it was a keyboard tech or something.Mark is so interesting.The whole band is one of the most original & talented group of musicians I've seen.

What is he talking about at 2:28? Every Minimoog I've ever seen has both Forward and Reverse Sawtooth waveform on Oscillator 3. He must be referring to the Minimoog Voyager.

Mark, you truly, actually know how to truly play "mood music" and you are a keyboard synthesizer Genius! Not to mention your "Common Sense", it is so contrary to the "Popular Culture". I Like it!!

Mark seems right pissed with this guy. Still being mad polite though. But just the look in his eyes.

I didn't really get that, but I cringed when he initially referred to his film scoring production house as "Devo's Headquarters" or whatever it was.

I really want to learn how to circuit bend things but I have no knowledge of working with electronics. Fuck...
@ctfs8 жыл бұрын
plenty of tutorials and groups. Circuit bending is easy. It was pioneered almost entirely by folks with no initial knowledge of electronics.
