1st time I traveled outside the US, I stayed in a hotel. All I need is a bed and a shower. The 2nd time I stayed in hostels. I regretted staying in the hotel. Hostels are the way to go. Meet people from around the world. The vast majority were considerate so I rarely had any issues with disrupted sleep.
