Dr. Greene realizes his brain tumor has returned, sadly. From ER - A Simple Twist of Fate. I did not produce this video, I only cut out these particular scenes.

I remember after this episode aired that there were new stories about how this episode saved peoples lives. There was a woman who watched the show regularly and after seeing what happened with green and his tongue she thought maybe she should get checked more thoroughly because she had a similar situation. She was saved from brain cancer because they caught it early. She attributed her survival to seeing the show and the fact that the producers always tried to depict situations as realistic as possible.

There's a related scene in a later episode I'd really like to see: After Elizabeth finds out about Mark's cancer being back, she's upstairs in the surgeon's lounge, Romano comes in, and they talk. Elizabeth has gone through Mark's first bout with brain cancer, Ella's overdose, resulting in her separation from Mark - and this issue is nowhere near resolved. She asks Romano "What, am I supposed to just keep on being the strong one?" And Romano says, matter of factly, "Yes."
@Ozzywozzy

That is one scene I love too, it was one of the few times Romano showed his kindness in spite of not liking Greene. He did love Lizzie though, it was horrible how his character was treated in the following seasons.

Dr. Greene was the best doctor in the hospital. He was partly Carter's mentor besides Benton. There is no doubt that Carter is a good doctor but he has emotions that can cloud his judgement in intense situations. Most of these came up while he was only an intern or lower but he is much more vulnerable than Mark ever was. If I was on the table I would want Greene beside me.

I wept like the simpleton I am when Lucy died and when Mark died I felt like I had lost someone I knew and loved; having watched every single episode and never missed one. @Sonya Because Grey’s Anatomy is the show that’s similar to ER. Where they focus on lots of characters and storylines. I didn’t watch The Resident but shows like House MD and The Good Doctor are centered around the main character mostly and it’s mostly their story. With everything else taking a backseat to them.

My Father in law died of Covid in May. Could not have the funeral until the end of June. Only family was there .It has been difficult but both mine and my husband parents lived long good lives so we were blessed.. My brother died back in 1959 like I said of chordoma. My parents did not talk about him to much.. Too painful. I only recently found out what he had died of. It was only recently that I was able to get a copy of the death certificate . When my Dad passed I came into possesstion of a letter he wrote to his boss at the time of my brothers illness. It was a gut wrenchi g to read the pain they had gone thru when he was sick and passed. It was only then that I realized how hard it was for them. Then when my sister got sick in her final days watching My Dad with her as her was saying his goodbye nearly killed me to watch. You know a good show when the impact from the absence of dialogue is just as powerful as dialogue itself. When a show (or movie) has to describe or talk about how the audience should feel like a scene, then you know it’s not very well thought of. This scene speaks (or there lack of) for itself….

And I loved the show, I really did...I would jump up and down during the credits because I was so excited. 😂 But I started to dislike it when Carter and Abby got together. Abby ended up in every story it seemed. There were ER forums that used to call the show, "As Abby's World Turns." Also, Carter let that "set the tone" thing go to his head. I think Seasons 1-6 were the best, although Season 6 didn't need to add so many characters at once. 🤦‍♀️

The middle of Season 13 is when I pretty much gave up. I actually started getting annoyed much sooner with certain stories starting in Season 7. It was so sad to see a great show go downhill.

I wisjbibkee how to get the instrumental music as an mp3 file. Mark didn't even have to say anything in order to show us how heartbroken was. Never going to forget this one.

@danah2222 Said patient was a mass murderer who intended to kill his wife and baby. He probably felt it was self-defense, protecting his loved ones. I felt it was, too.

tumour is back? Come on it was always there. Surgery only allowed him to live long enough to spend time with Elizabeth, Ella and Rachel.

One thing I was always curious about. When Greene was attacked in Season 4 or 5, can't remember when, there was obvious head trauma and injuries to his face, wouldn't the head scan then revealed some abnormal cells or the beginning of the tumor or something? Nothing concrete, but enough where someone would mention to him about it so he could see a specialist himself. I know they hadn't progressed his storyline that far yet but that always seemed strange to me.

Not really because when he was attacked was many years ago, Glioblastoma and many brain tumors may appear within months, as they are malignant. Bening tumors can stay for years without symptoms and without noticing them until there are symptoms or they are found in routine exams.
