Man, sometimes it is hard to look into the mirror and see what we have done in our past. All I can say is that I am glad there were guys like Mark Stothard around to advance the fishing world and move us past this type of crap. For every time you hear somebody say how much worse off the world is, there are things like this that make you think we are making progress. Glad we have moved beyond this type of "Fishing" and glad he made this video to showcase the disaster this was.

That's just the way it was before the internet came about. People were just a bit thick back then, now there's a world of information out there educating people on sustainability!... tight lines people :)

Still no excuse and had nothing to do with the internet. People back then were a bunch of losers! The kids today are losers and those guys snagging are right there with em as well. Bunch of bullshit. Its a shame that was ever aloud to be legal.

I don't think its as bad nowadays, but its definitely still a crap show on the Lake Ontario tribs!

Just sad. No other words to be said. How in the heck could you be proud of that? I’d rather drive home from Erie skunked than snag steelhead. And I don’t even keep fish.

Absolutely horrendous, the genuine disgust I feel towards these people makes me wish the absolute worst outcome to their lives

Wow Peter, you said you had lots of Mark's material but I had no idea this was among them. I thought the state proposed ending legal snagging in 1992. This was filmed in 1994. Was it still legal at Oak Orchard? I've never fished the Oak, but have fished the Salmon for Kings and steelhead a few times in that late 80's to early 90's but more so the Oswego R. for all species. I've never witnessed that behavior portrayed in this film except for the crowds when the salmon were running. After a while the crowds kept me away and the cold was insane to fish in winter, unless I was on a frozen lake. I feel sorry for the residents living on those tribs. I've heard lots of stories of property damage and threats to the residents by those rowdy anglers. Anyway thanks for sharing this, kudos to Mark and Carl Coleman. Great to see the guy whose March Brown nymph I tied and caught my first Adirondack trout with. Happy holidays to you.

Oh, they did. I saw one person get hit in the head from someone's one once sinker and trible hookd. Almost knocked him out!

Totally ridiculous. Unfortunately you can still witness the same type of buffoonery at the Salmon River every fall.
