Boogie Nights is by far Mark Wahlberg's best picture and will probably always be his best picture. And let's not forget it made him a star so he should be praising that movie. He should call Paul Thomas Anderson every other day and thank him for giving him a career.

Because the Academy is mostly a bunch of old folks with very average tastes. Remember when "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Shakespeare in Love" won the best movies? Just look for all other nominees, 2-3 classics going on and no one cares about these two movies anymore

Deliverance was before Burt’s massive rise in the mid 70s, Smokey is what made him a total household name, the south is such a hugely populated and important part of America most yanks do not realize how much the south likes its heroes. Eastbound and down with the music and the music Smokey was legend in the mid 70s, right next to Star Wars.
