The hardest part of weight loss comes after that initial stage where it comes off pretty easy. Then the scale just decides to fuck you about and not budge. If you can stick out for a while and not get discouraged you can see some real results.

Why are people confused about this? It’s basic human bio chemistry. We know what causes the body to store fat, or use fat for energy. If you don’t eat sugar or carbs, your body will use fat stores for energy (gluconeogenesis and keystones). If you are not eating sugar and carbs, you will be eating protein and fat, or starve to death. If you do eat carbs and other sugar, when it increases your blood sugar activating the Randel Cycle (locks glucose from entering cells), your body will increase production of insulin which reduces your blood sugar by storing the sugar as fat in your body.

honestly anything that lowers insulin. Fasting no carb/low carb really helps. That's why that apple cider vinegar stuff works so well

Why do so many people think that keto is “ribeyes with butter” and just overeating fat. Just like any other health factor it’s about the proper Balance.
@scotlynhatt
@scotlynhatt Жыл бұрын
I think a lot of that is "Oooo I can eat that?" mentality that is part of the problem carried over from the standard way of eating. Too many short form videos throwing stuff at people and they don't actually do a deep dive to understand how it works and learning that balance you mentioned.

I'm fat. Carnt lose it. I've done keto,Atkins since it came out when I was in my early 20's .I'm now 51. I went from a type 2 diabetic to an adult on set type 1 diabetic on a carnivore diet. I've had a lot of surgery. I cannot move or train like I used to. I used to bodybuild and do powerlifting. No drugs. I really want this fat gone but I am lost and I'm not ignorant to training and diet. Been around it all my life. It isn't easy. As my diabetes has gotten worse and my health is declining it's harder. I've tried psmf too. Too much fat makes my diabetes worse as I get symptoms of high blood sugar. I keep getting lectured at my doctor's and hospital but I'm totally lost.

Everyone’s body is so different. Carnivore, Keto, paleo etc etc is not for everyone. So for people to push one way of eating is the “right” way is wrong. Clean eating, “balance” (carbs are not all bad), no processed foods, good sleep, and love that body.

Furhman was all about kale as such the best food in a book like ten years ago. There has been recent stuff about how kale isn't so great. Also Furhman was all about high carb and was so low on protein in his 90s fasting book it was a joke. Even at the time and his skinny traps in his videos don't help.

@@deucebigs9860it's a barely-edible leaf full of anti-nutrients. The touted vitamins are in their lesser, water-soluble forms. It is certainly not a "super food" by any objective measure.

@@BlitzerkidSix i'm guessing you're talking about phytoestrogens as the anti-nutrients? there's well over 1000 of these and studies haven't even really begun that understands them all. I'm open to being proven wrong, but I want to know why all the blue zones are mainly vegetarian or vegan if they're so bad for you? I think we're just at one of the stages like the always flip flopping "eggs will kill you! oh wait now eggs are a superfood! oh wait now the cholesterol! etc"

I love Dr. Lustig, however, one must consider he's speaking of preventing obesity.... once metabolically "challenged" shall we say, it takes a LOT to reverse it. Doubly so for someone like me, bad ankle, bad knee, bad back, so exercise at my current size isn't easy and in fact risky. Exercise is great, but not the best way to lose weight. Controlling what and when things go into your mouth is the key. And the more obese you are th4 more extreme one must get to lose weight quickly because the body adapts and slows metabolism to try and match your "reduced" calorie intake. So you end up in a cycle of cut/burn more calories then your basal metabolic rate drops off completely so you can sustain yourself on 1500 calories and even start gaining at that level.... so you cut to 1200, and your BMR adapts again, then 900 calories a dey.... BMR drops again. And when you're taking in so few calories your body feels cold all the time and you lack energy to exercise. I think our human brains approach it incorrectly in that we expect a single weight loss method and a linear weight loss, when NOW what I'm doing is far more effective. 2-3 weeks of fasting/OMAD/keto then 2-3 days of eating ANYTHING. So what ends up happening is I lose 20 pounds, regain 5... lose 15 pounds, regain 5. So the graph looks more like steps rather than a straight line. Switching gears when your body adapts helps prevent hardcore adaptation. Also I'm not "heavy" I'm fat, fat people, myself included, need to get comfortable with the word fat, and I don't mean accept people calling you fatass, but there's no getting around the fact that I'm fat. I've done up to 19 days water/tea/coffee only fasting, as well as shorter ones, like a week/10 days. If you break through to day 4-ish fasting, hunger dies... I go from driving past a burger joint ton day 2 and smelling the burger in the air and wanting it, to day 5 and the same smell makes me nauseous. When I tried to lose weight linearly I've always failed, so now I simply accept breaking from the fasting/diet a day or two or up to 3 eating whatever, and the resume the program. I the past when I expected a linear weight loss I'd beat myself up the moment at put something in my mouth outside of my diet. Which made me just throw up my hands an say, "screw it" and regained all the weight I loss plus gained. My expectations have changed and since then I've been successful. I had been 450lbs at my max, I'm currently at 400-ish, I know I'm just under it, but I don't count it unless the doctor weighs me who I see once a month. Oh and I'm not even exercising yet, the list of conditions I have, were I to get into it makes me very high chance of injury. I want to break 350lbs before going to the gym.
