I hate when cheaters say it didn't mean anything. That proves how selfish and self-centered they truly are if that is their justification. Maybe to them it doesn't mean anything but who tf are they to say that to the one being cheated on because to them, it _does_ mean something.

The fact that she cheated for a long time and was careful to not get caught and she just came home, admitted to cheating and just passed out for a long time makes me wonder if she was either still drunk as hell coming home or tried some other drug with her partner to be that blatantly honest about it.

I don’t know if OP’s ex not even bothering to lie about cheating is a good thing or a bad thing. On one hand OP didn’t get lied to, he didn’t have to spend additional time worrying if she really was unfaithful and dragging out a doomed marriage. On the other it just shows how insignificant OP was to his ex that she unashamedly admitted to cheating and was dismissive of the huge bombshell she just dropped. It sucks to hear your spouse saying, “yeah, I cheated, leave me alone.”

Story 2: Some people just have this insatiable need to create drama. You cannot reason with them. All you can do is cut them out of your life asap. The sister is like that and she's trying to camouflage this by pretending she's only upset on behalf of her brother. Okay, if the brother is so important, why not listen to him when he says stop? Ah, it's because he's not important and it was just a convenient excuse to create drama.

nah. Sounds like it is mainly that she has her firmly categorized as "Bad mother that abandoned her child" and can never see her in any other light. Its like how the media painted some people as racist. Now a large portion of the population is completely incapable of ever seeing them in any other light. No evidence will ever be believed that shows the contrary, etc. The label has been permanently affixed. Look at the Pro-rona-vax crowd. They refuse to even look at the scientific data proving that the "vaccines" did not stop the spread and were not good for young people, and cause far more harm than they prevented. Most people vehemently resist being de-programmed.

Story 1: OP made the right call leaving that dumpster fire of a woman. Cheating doesn't destroy relationships with the sex it is the lying about it and the loss of trust that comes with it that destroys relationships. Some people just view sex as sex. I'm personally one of those to an extent but I would never use that as an excuse to cheat on my wife. Sex only means what ever meaning you attach to it. I hope the guys STD check comes back clean at least.

Right. If she couldn't be happy with just one person then she shouldn't have been in a monogamous relationship. She could've found someone who wanted an open relationship. There are tons of people out there who are more than willing to have that kinda marriage. But she chose to lie and sneak around knowingly hurting her husband. That doesn't make it any better honestly. She's still the type of person who cheats and covers up for her cheating friends so she'd probably manage to scew up an open relationship too because she's just a trash person.

I hate that the idiots in these stories often say that the cheating didn't mean anything. Of course it means something! It basically screams at your partner that they aren't enough for you. How can you do something that hurtful to someone you "care about"? On top of that, you are saying that you risked your happy relationship for something meaningless. That doesn't make you look better at all and it doesn't excuse anything.

The part about the food pictures was so random, it really made me laugh, which is something I did not expect to happen in the context of the rest of the story. Anyway, Story 1: I read about swingers and people in open relationships before; some people are capable of having sex without it having any emotional significance to them, and some do need a lot of variety in sex that a single partner would not be able to deliver. However, as with all matters relating to sex, CONSENT IS ESSENTIAL! If you want to be in an open relationship, your partner(s) HAVE to be aware of your stance from as early into the relationship as possible, and they have to fully agree to it. Anything else is inexcusable. Story 2: There's an argument to be made, albeit a lousy one, that if someone's in a position to become a bad parent, maybe they shouldn't become a parent at all. I know that's part of the reason why I would never father a child. Of course one of the problems with that argument is that no one is ever truly ready for what life might throw on them. A common enough example in these subreddits is with a "completely sane" woman suddenly suffering post-partum depression. And yes, mental illness is a real thing, it could affect anyone, and should be treated the same way as any other illness. The sister in the story is stupid for not realizing that, and a giant a-hole in general.
@alexandergustafsson9824
@alexandergustafsson9824 Жыл бұрын
Yes!! Concerning story 2 i thought the exact same thing. Sure the sister was way out of line but as you said maybe you shouldn't get pregnant/keep the child in the first place? If you are in a bad place because your husband just died why do you go out and f a random dude you hardly know and not even use protection against pregnancy? And you have every chance to terminate the pregnancy too. Idk maybe i'm all wrong about it.

OP wasn't taking his child's mother's side. He was taking is CHILD's side. I'm assuming OP's sister never lost someone in an untimely fashion. That grief is completely different. If an elderly parent/grandparent passes, you're usually processing and preparing for it months or years in advance. A lot of of the time they and you are ready for them to go. When it's a younger person, the grief is compounded by what ifs. When it's unexpected, your sense of reality shifts a bit. Focus is hard. How people deal with it is different. I used my wife and other children to help keep me focused when our daughter died. I needed to keep being the dad she loved and deserved. However, I can see how detaching can be what another does, especially in a case like this when it was a child of "grief sex", not the child of the departed.

The moment he said that those girls nights outside were a normal thing, we all knew that this marriage was over. Classic case of her having OP for the stability and the girls nights out for all of the excitement and dk she could get. This wasn't the first time she cheated. Only the first time she came home at daybreak. OP needs to go get a consultation from every high end divorce lawyer in their area. Leave her only the bare dregs of the barely competent lawyers. Now is the time for scorched earth. Cheaters like these are just a subspecies of the human race. They don't have the capability of higher function and are only driven by their basic desires.

Story 2: The OP and mother of the child made all the correct choices as a parent in their situation should. How many children are unintentionally put through hell because one or more parent is not in the right place mentally to correctly care for a child. The mother of the child did not abandon the child. She cared enough about the child that she made what was probably the hardest decision of her life to step out of the child's life long enough to get the help she needed. OPs sister needs to get over herself. Seriously I have never understood this whole thing about being offended on someone else's behalf. That goes for every time that happens. Being offended by something is a personal choice and the parties involved can make up their own mind whether or not they are offended by something. Being offended on someone else's behalf is basically saying that they aren't smart enough to know they should be offended. The amount of entitlement that people have to decide that they can be offended for other people is staggering. OP made the correct call here.

Story 2 controversial opinion YTA, so I went and read the post to see if the op gave any context around why the sister may have been pissed at Annie. And unfortunately no questions about the sister, so here is my theory take it for what it is, i bet that for the 2 years OP didn't do this all on his own I would think that his family rallied around him to help during those 2 years, every one is just assuming that the sister doesn't hold a valid reason for not liking Annie, the only thing people are proposing is that she is being mean or protective of op. What if the sister hates Annie because she stepped up and helped op or was a shoulder to cry on for the past 2 years I would guess that most people would despise some one who noped out of the kids life just to come back when life is a little easier since the first 2 years are the hardest. And to pre-empt the you don't know what it's like, your right I have never had any mental illness but what I do have is chronic pain in the majority of my body a good day is 6-7/10 I have to take handfuls of pain killers just to get out of bed in the morning. But even with all that I could never leave my daughter hell she's the only reason I have not to give up so to hear that a mother just nopes out for 2 years rubs me the wrong way so yea OP is the asshole, hope Annie never leaves again cos I'm going to guess the sister will just say told you so and hang up

Story 1: You know when soldiers who have been on the front lines return from war? Even if they have been taken out of the war, the war has not been taken out of them. And every day they live as if they are still on the frontlines because of the trauma they've suffered. The same can be seen in human trafficking victims. Even if they're physically free they're still drawn to people who will use them. And they can only feel gratification through being used. And when they want something they try to get it through s-xual favours, because that's how they've always gotten things. A very interesting thing that can be observed is how promiscuous women start to exhibit the same kind of behaviour as human trafficking victims. They cannot get attracted to a partner that treats them with love and respect. They are drawn to people that use them. They cannot commit to one partner. And when they want something they try to get it through s-xual favours. I really feel for OP. I can't even imagine how much it must have hurt to not only have been betrayed, but to have it confessed in such a dismissive way. And then her trying to force herself on him right after cheating on him. Disgusting.

What a gross take. If a man is beating his wife, would you say "What is she doing to make him so angry?" Seriously, get better and grow up.

Story 2: NAH sister is being mean but she’s on your side and defending you and the kid. Annie’s NTA because it was a mental health issue and not her fault and she got help. OP is NTA and doing the best he can for the kid. As far as Jack. He’s 2. A 2 year old doesn’t know what’s going on and won’t even remember anything.

Nah, the sister was deadass told "Butt out and mind your own business" and was still a bitch about it. At that point she became the asshole.

Story 1 sounds like sex addiction, especially based on her reaction to being told it's over. She thinks sex is everything and that's all that anyone cares about.

"Sex addiction" was created by Christians to pathologize normal desires.

@@wmdkitty I'd say what she has qualifies. Constant sex, all the time, it's fine cheating if it's only sex. Your feelings are hurt, you just need sex. It's all sex.

You would have preferred an unequipped parent continue caring for a child than have that parent get better so they can be the best parent they can be?

@@alexshaw8167 A transitory mom is worse than an absent mom, so if the mom develops a strong bond for 3 months and leaves again, it'll be worse than if she never came back at all. An unprepared, ill equipped, stressed, frayed, yet caring OP is better than another abandonment.

Story 2. It's incredible how selfish people are in the US. That person left her baby and went away. She's a terrible mother that never took responsibility. Wow.
