Great video. It was nice to see such a range of approaches from these gentlemen. I think Corey Ratliff, JCM Berne, and Adam Fernandez would be a good indie authors to try and get on.

Awesome video! enjoyed listening to the origin stories, how they published their books and their experience with amazon as here in Australia thats the main platform I buy books from. just wondering if you guys have a similar video with authors but relating to how they went about actually writing and the struggles they faced in world building and completing a plot. : ) Also love the idea Tanner's -'Titan's nest', the dragon biting you and then you get chosen with abilities. Super cool idea!

We will be doing more of these and those are great topics to discuss - this was just us dipping our toe into giving more spotlight and advice from authors, more to come!

Also Zammar Ahmer- Book of Astea duology-beautifully written grim dark with notes of Abercrombie in his prose and Sanderson with how unique his world is. The first book is Riven Earth. Myself and Iskandria are planning a spoiler/nonspoiler discussion with him in the next couple of months. The whole duology finishes under 800 pages and is available now. It was released in June. Just another indie author rec-he deserves the hype and the praise based on having read the first of the duology.

I feel like I want to read Lost Souls just because Ryan is a such a cool guy. He seems like soneone I could just hang out with and gave a great time😅 And as for other indie authors, you should try and get Michael Webb on the pod. He writes fun YA fantasy stories, including two full trilogies, both in the same world, as well as two children's fantasy treasure hunting books, also in the same world. His books are rife with politics, economics, strong friendships, betrayals, villains with good motivations, and a really fun magic system. The final book of the first trilogy even got second place for best indie published fantasy book a couple of years ago! I don't think it was on Mark Lawrence's contest, but I know it was on something. I just can't remember what it was.

The main issue with many Indie Authors is patience. While there are some truly talented Indie Authors like ML Wang, Ryan Cahill, and Rob J. Hayes, a significant problem arises with others in the community. These authors often write one or two books and rush to publish them. In contrast, successful authors like Brandon Sanderson, Pierce Brown, and George R.R. Martin wrote numerous books before they were ever published. Authors like Jed Herne, Daniel Greene, and many aspiring writers tend to produce mediocre work because they're too eager to release their books. The primary reason many authors turn to Indie Publishing is due to repeated rejections from traditional publishers. They often think, "If they won't publish my work, I'll do it myself." And frankly, this can be the right approach. Sometimes, traditional publishers aren't looking for the kind of work you're creating, but by self-publishing, you can find an audience that appreciates what you do. This perspective may offend some, but it's the truth.

Definitely a good point, lots of pros and cons, still very glad these books can get out there
