I was the shift supervisor at the YerfDog factory in Jordan Minnesota back in 1996. I programmed the welding robots that made your gocart. We made thousands per week for Sam’s Club. We had an assembly line like a car factory. Sam’s speced those units out for 1000 hours trouble free. Your units may have more hours on them than that. There is supposed to be grease zerks on those front spindles. Factory. You may want to inspect for other missing zerks. Thanks for bringing back all those memories for me.

Really enjoyed watching the Go-Kart maintenance. You could probably film yourself painting trim and i'd like that. Oh wait ..... I bought 5 mini-bikes for our family. Thought I was going to be dad of the year. They drove them once, and never got on em again. Well my wife and I enjoyed ours.

Don’t sweat it ! I bought a go cart for my grandson’s to ride on my property. They rode it once, one ran into the corner of porch the other one ran into the propane tank lol . Scarring them so they never rode it again , but my granddaughter loved it and she is younger than them lol . Kept it for a few years then traded it for a John Deere ridding mower with snow plow ! Win win 😅

I have 4 grandsons who are in their late teens now. When they they were younger I had 5 yard carts for them. One was a spare. I built them a track on my 2 acres and they would wind those suckers and have fun. My neighbor told me that they were tearing my grass up. I told him that I'm raising grandsons, not grass thank you very much. Their carts had 5hp Breaks and Scrap'ems on them and I was forever working on them, that's why I had a spare cart. That got me to thinking. I'm pretty good at repairing small engines. So I started a second income at it. Those Preditor engines are the way to go on those carts I guarantee. Thanks for your channel. My brothers and I built a go cart when we was growing up in the 60's we had 2 chainsaw motors on it at first. Dad wasn't too happy with it after he clocked us with is police radar faster than it should have been and made us take one off.

Where you see a go kart, I see a really fast ride to dump the Taco Boy side effects! Of course, that squat to get on/off might be a little dangerous. Going to get the mail? There you go. Put a tow strap and pull the garbage bins to the curb! Its now a fun tool to get around the yard without using a lot of gas, adjusting a carb, finding the keys to a vehicle...leave one by the house to let the wife ride out to see you quicker. Hahaha!

Hey there, condensation naturally occurs when engines get hot and cold. If they don't run hot enough for long enough, they won't evaporate the condensation until the water displaces the lighter oil, forcing the oil out past the rings. I live in GA, where it is more common from high humidity. The only thing you can do is change the oil often unless, when you start the engine you make sure to run it long enough to get hot for a while and cook off the condensation.

I've had a few of those yerf dog karts over the years. To answer questions, yes the belt is supposed to be loose, but maybe not THAT loose! And every one that I've had, has been clanky and janky, but those karts are stout! The play in the parts is normal for those karts. 1 because they are older and wore, but also unless your going to upgrade those parts with bearings/bushings, you need that play for everything to move freely! Throw some luby douby on it and call it a day lol! It's a go kart, send it!!

You need a go-kart track on the property now! But one reason why your girls may be scared is those seats. Not feeling planted and secure (even if it does have a seatbelt) isn't confidence inspiring. Individual bucket seats would help a lot towards helping them stay secured

"tinking noise " is the clutch , normal .Do 3 oil changes with used oil . Get motor up to temp and change each time . 4th ,used new oil . should get rid of milkshake . We did it on a kart we got for my son . Advice from a small engine mechanic of 40 + years . Also we ran straight 30 weight oil .

Growing up, my brother and I had a yerfdog gokart that was a bit larger than yours. Watching this brought back a ton of good memories of raising hell with that thing. Hopefully y'all can make some great memories as well!

The belt drive is like what they use on snowmobiles & yes the belt looks a size or two big but will work just great as the pully expands the faster the motor goes it tightens up on the belt ! 50 years ago myself & few the neighbor kids used build go-carts out water pipe & braze the pipe together but no roll cage was even though of back then ! Yes i had many times rolled over & once had head-on crash but i'm still alive & only had few bumps & burses

I recently worked on a go cart similar to the ones you have and noticed that they do not use the Ackerman Principle when attaching the tie rod arms to the spindles. In a rear steer situation (tie rods behind the centerline of the front axle) the tie rod arms should point to the the center of the rear axle. The makes whichever wheel is on the inside of a turn cut sharper than the outer wheel. This minimizes the steer tires scuffing in a corner and increases the stability of the front end when turning. It should be a fairly easy fix for a man with a torch and a welder. Go enjoy Thanksgiving and your family!

The spindle bolts need shims made from a pop can. The jack shaft base plate needs to be slotted to move the motor forward to tighten up the belt. I build fully custom mini truck go karts. Hope that helps

Seems like that belt should have a wheel that pushes it tighter. I had an old garden tractor you walk behind or hook a wagon to. You could stand in the wagon and drive it. Anyway to engauge it to go was push a lever that pushed the third pulley tighting and making it go. Hope I explained that right. I had an adult beverage or twelve 😂

Piddin, it wasn't gas instead of water in the oil from the needle valve sticking is it. That's about the only other thing it could be. And those little engines are tougher than a pine knot. Long as ig wasn't ran long with that sater in it no harm no foul. Keep on keeping on brother.

The bolt that the throttle lever pivots on comes tight from the fsctory so you can use it on a tiller or something. Loosen up the nylock nut a little bit and it should move freely enough that the fsctory spring will return it to zero, but if your throttle cable has some drag, you might need to lube your cable and/or add a stiffer return spring. That’s a normal issue to encounter when using the predator engines.

Them little Go Karts are cool, mate. The one that had oil in the water (see what I did there?) it might pay to dump a bit of diesel fuel (say, 50ml / 30oz / quarter cup) in the oil, idle it for five mins and then drain it before refilling with fresh. The diesel fuel will clean out the capillaries and make the milkshake super runny so you get pretty much all of it outta there. If she doesn't rip as well as the other one with good fresh oil, try taking the oil up to a standard 30 weight rather than 10/30....or 20/40 - 30/40 if you can't find that. The little engines prefer to have a bit of viscosity in the oil and it helps with the compression (don't ask me how coz I don't know - I just know what works). Know what you mean about raising girls. I have 2 of my own - now 19 and 22 - who would work in the garage with me and do all sorts of car stuff up until they were about 11-12 and then that was the end of that . The youngest - who loves classic cars - still went to car shows with me until she was 15, but the oldest wasn't into it at all....although she still loves her American Muscle cars and is saving for a Mustang (of all things - although I thought I raised her better than that). Neither of them are interested in maintaining their car - just happy that Dad can do it for them - although they do check the fluids and tyre pressures weekly and can change a tyre. I'm just waiting for them to hook up with young blokes who are as interested in cars as I am and see what happens then! All the best
