1832 was the first invention of the cinder blocks. In 1832 were the first solid cinder blocks. The first hollow cinder blocks dates backs 1890.

The moment phone entered the upper attic space, the sound glitched perfectly, just straight horror movie stuff😱

The black thing you said was a bag that is on the table with the conveyor buckets looks like the inner tube for a large tire. The folding attic ladder needs the springs reattached to help with the lowering and lifting.
@justinc.2656Ай бұрын
I have that Ladder. It's very convenient, but be careful when collapsing it back down. Forcing it to go faster can break it, Trust me
@investfourmoreАй бұрын
thank you for the tip

Smoke alarms chirp when the power is off too - wired alarms retain enough charge in a capacitor to alert you of the power failure. The hole in the basement could lead to a space under the sidewalk. Buildings built pre-1940s commonly had a room under the front sidewalk in many places across the USA.
@byrnАй бұрын
You might drop by your local historical society. They'll likely have old photos that might show your buildings, and it's always interesting to see what trades were prominent in the area. And research the steam pressure gauges in the basement, I'm betting it probably powered the original grain lift mechanism.

Routt County coal is some of best bituminous coal in Colorado. There is higher grade coal near Glen Wood Springs but I don’t think you can get from where you are to there on on the Moffet line.

The trash filled hole in the basement is part of a hopper, were the grain would be poured into. Then the conveyor buckets would lift up into a grain silo.

A few apartments in that building would be so great. Each one could have a basement for movie room or pool room, or just family room. The building has huge potential though. Not basenent apartments they are so depressing. Would be cool to see the roof too. Colorado lots of snow. Oh man would love to renovate that. So cool. Have a great day

This is bringing back memories of my childhood. I remember my dad driving into the grain elevators and I would get out and watch him open the back of the truck.seeing the grain pouring into an opening that I think sifted the grain from the chaft.i think I remember seeing those little bucket things in action going up a shaft in the wall. The smell of metal..grain..machinery and cigarettes lol

I wonder if the owners of Russell's furniture are related to John and Perry Russell. They have 2 liquor stores in my area that are about a mile and a half apart from each store. The store around the corner from me opened somewhere in the 60's and it's their second store. Someone told me that there was another store that the brothers had but they were unsure if was owned by the brothers or the grandfather. I'll do some research on it.

There was a time I would have said the building might be good for an auto parts store, however today there are thousands of dollar stores closing down and the footage of those stores are perfect for auto parts stores, so that would probably make it moot for a parts house. I would not have been able to cope with the accumulated dust.
