Calvin’s bleeding from both ears violently due to the helicopter crash. During the final roll, his hearing protection comes off, and the helicopter explodes following the tumble. Due to you being far enough away it doesnt deafen you. But calvin is too close to the blast, resulting in the rupturing of both eardrums. And his lethargy comes from a concussion mixed with his senses being all disrupted. That or someone walked up to him and went “WHA-PAH”

Used to be an avid ice fisherman. It's true! Allegedly according to the old timers on the ice you can tell by the sounds the difference between heaving by more ice having formed, and ice breaking somewhere further along on the lake. We would often go on ice that wasn't very thick to beat the crowds and such. Sometimes early winter, some times as the ice is melting and there are whirlpools forming on top of the ice (where there are holes)of draining water. I recall early in the season the ice under us shifted to such a degree (it felt like we dropped a full inch) that me and my friend both had already started moving out of the lightweight tent before we even realized it was happening.

22:49 the fire making everything darker actually makes sense, its about how our eyes react to light, your pupil dilates in the dark to allow the most amount of light in, but in the any bright conditions it contracts so it doesnt let harmfull light into the eye. So when u look at the fire, the pupils constrict for protection, and your surroundings seem darker

For the same reason all of the movies that have characters move their torches forward to see further are stupid. This illuminates at most 1/2 meter more, but blinds your eyes at the same time; to see further with a torch you need to move it behind you, and shield your eyes from the reflections off of the cave walls around you (easiest by forming a tube with your other hand).

I think the sound wave from the accident or the sudden loss of altitude (barotrauma) while having his headphones yeeted off his head led to Kelvin's ear drums bursting. So, his issue is probably a sound or pressure related injury rather than intentional injury by a hostile entity.

Had me for a bit with the whole "We're done, frienship over" thing until I realized "After all the shit you all have been through, there really isn't anything that would destroy your friendship" The video was pretty good, and I will admit that it is both good and sad that you're playing solo. Probably the best way to justify having a companion that can only do simple things like 'fetch stuff'. It also doesn't detract from the sense of isolation as much, because you can't talk to him.

One good tip is for a reliable food source is Greg. A soup using the limbs of the cannibals that gives you a good health boost and a cutting buff so you can cut down trees faster. Also fills both your hunger and thirst so one Greg a day is all you need. Pls like this so he can see it cause it really helped me especially later on when I’m just trying to build.

Mark, if you ever need a better base spot so the mutants don't keep destroying it (and so you can get a good night's rest), go to the north-west beach! There's shallow water there that you can build on, and the bad guys cant cross the shoreline, so you can defend from afar. Hope this helps :)

22:50 it got darker because due to the new light introduced into a dark environment, your eyes was adjusted to the dark but now they’re trying to get adjusted to the light as well. It’s like being in a dark room then suddenly stepping outside during the day, and when you go back inside it seems to be darker than before. Amazing detail in this game, this is a true survival game

So interesting fact about Kelvin’s ear trauma, since Mark didn’t know if that could actually happen: There is a chance if you drop altitude quickly for your eardrums to rupture. And especially since they fell down from that high, it makes sense. It’s called barotrauma, “ear bleeding due to pressure changes,” and it can affect the inner, middle, and outer ear. He probably got a severe case due to the severity of the crash! Plus game gotta make it dramatic

Last year, I was stuck in bed for like 2 weeks recovering from surgery. Was in a lotta pain but I watched the original "The Forest" playlist like +10 times and it helped me feel a LOT better during a time where I otherwise felt pretty miserable. Really happy to see this series back and I hope it sticks around, it's very comforting to me now :>

​@koolaid33 Its tiny. its next to a huge slope which you cant build walls on theres no immediate access to water You usually want a much bigger and flatter area but it really depends on how big of a base you want to build ofc you can do all the caves with nothing more than a tent and a campfire but the building mechanics they added in this game are half the fun

6:39 I have the answer for that! Kelvin most likely hit his head while the helicopter was rolling, or when he was possibly thrown out of it. He's suffering a TBI, traumatic brain injury, which occurs when your skull/brain has been thrown around or bonked too hard. He's got it pretty bad, as you can see when you wave your hand in front of his eyes, he doesn't follow or track the movement. However, he responds a bit to basic communication through writing, which shows a bit of hope for his survival. Unfortunately,if this was a real life situation, he probably wouldn't be allowed to walk around like he is right now. But yeah. No bullet needed. Just a bad swonking.

Kelvin suffered an intense explosion that most likely happened hear him, without ear protection, his ear drums were blown causing immediate pain, desorientation, psychological trauma, constant ear ringing and permanently deaf for life. 7:58 Basically a "blast" shot his ears out.

@@robonator2945 this is true! but depending on the severity, it might need surgery to repair the damage, so that it can start to heal properly. also a ruptured eardrum can allow bacteria into the inner ear. which could cause an infection that might lead to more permanent hearing damage. so it's always recommended to have such an injury looked at by a doctor.
