The one thing I’ve always loved about the modern Enfield’s (single 500/535s and 650s…the 400 Himalayan too) is that they are extremely friendly for owners to learn to care for and wrench on. Parts are dirt cheap, easily available from eBay, etc.

Great video/review! Happy to say that here in California, we just bought three of these! I'm 61, and have been riding for over 50 years. This is the smallest bike (engine wise) I've owned in over 30 years, and it's the most fun I've had since my first ride! I got one for me and my son, and his girlfriend's father as well. No matter where we go or what we're doing, we get stopped and asked about them. I'm also a big guy - 6'-4", 230 lbs. It's 100% comfortable - after I moved the bars back slightly and changed the gear shifter up one-notch. Perfection, even with the wife on the back. If you're considering one, go have a look (and test ride if possible). I don't think you'll regret it and I'm guessing you're going to love it! Ride safe all!

Thank you so much for answering the most pressing question I had about the bike, it's suitability for bigger lads. I am also 6'4 (though my doctor insists age has made me 6'3 now..) so I have been a bit concerned it would be too small for me. Did you opt for the spring seat option or anything else to help with the height or are you just using the standard seating? Again thank you for your comments on the matter.
@scottboettcher Жыл бұрын
@ I did add the touring seats in black. It gives you maybe 3/4” in height, but I didn’t need it. They’re more Comfortable too. I put the black ones on my Halcyon Grey and it is lovely!!! Ride Safe 🙏🏼

So true! When i bought mine previous October i did 500 meters and returned to the dealer to put the gear lever one position higher. I am also above 6 ft (187 cm) and the riding position is absolutely great - the rubber pads on the tank are so nice by the way. My question for you Mr Scott is if the optional seats ruin this great riding position because they look (and as you confirm) taller.

When I was in Columbo in 2017 I walked into the RE dealership next to my hotel and the Classic jumped at me. They had the 350 Bullet and the T-bird (500cc then not allowed as an import because military bs), but the Classic just grabbed me for some reason. Which was a bit odd as the 500 Bullet was one of my dad's dream bikes and I'd admired it for years. A few years later and the 650s came out and the Continental GT is what I want, but the Classic is still just as appealing as it was then on that showroom floor. I guess not being around in the '50s/'60s the Bullet is a little too "pure" and the Classic's retro is enough "pure" and enough "modern" to really fit my bill.

I've watched a lot of videos on the Meteor and it is a good looking bike. But Royal Enfield really made a smart move by installing the new Meteor 350 cc engine on the Classic. I'm old (68) and I love the looks and the upright riding position of the Classic. Now that it is equipped with the new smoother engine from the Meteor it is my choice of motorcycles from Royal Enfield. I watched another video on the Classic 350 which showed a red and chrome bike which is really pretty. If I had a choice the red and chrome will be mine. I currently own a 2021 Harley with a 114 C. I. engine and rarely go over 62 MPH. So the Classic 350 will be fine with me. And on the old two lane roads where the speed limit is less, there will be no finer bike to ride than the new Classic 350. Thanks for the video, ride safe and enjoy every journey.

Years ago, I liked the Classic 500 (i.e. the one with the UCE), but RE stopped making it before I got one. Since the new Classic 350 shares the same brakes, frame, and engine with the Meteor, I figured it would be a sweet ride too. Your review confirmed that indeed it is. I'd change out the stock filter and snorkel for a DNA high flow filter and bellmout/airbox cover. Not only would the bike wake up; it would have a deeper, throatier thump! Now, I shall give my local RE dealer a call, so I can get my name on the list for a sweet Chrome Red... :)

At last, a bike with proper mudguards that actually guard the bike from the mud 👍👍👍👍👍 I am happy with my NC750X but I would consider one of these as a second bike. As with my previous '93 500 Bullet I would remove the pillion seat and I would want to fit suitable classic panniers in order for the bike to be a practical vehicle. The '93 Bullet cost me £2300 new so the price for new 350 is very reasonable. Now if only my nearest dealer was not 250 miles away and I was not a ridiculous 6'4'' tall 😭 I wonder if there is an option to put the ignition switch on the side panel where it should be....

@Cooper, if you’re insanely tall, first of all, i think you would still be fine. If not, you could buy the touring seat accessory. I am 5’7” tall and the regular seat was quite manageable but could not flat foot entirely. Then I moved on to the touring seat with a plush seat cover for long rides. The seat height actually increased and now i can touch the ground with 1/4 of my feet. But for you it would be perfect. Don’t worry your knees won’t hit anything while riding since there is enough space at the sides of the tank. Give it a shot and tailor it to your own tastes. You’ll love it.

Hi Mark, congratulations on the first UK review of the Classic 350, Certainly the best review I've seen! I ordered one last December, so great to see one for real on British Roads. Nice that they've put on a conventional gear lever, but disappointing there's no Tripper. The Chrome model"s only a couple of hundred more than the Halcyon, So for the extra cost of the chrome tank and mudguards, the Tripper, can't be that expensive. I did see somewhere that the problem is the world wide computer chip shortage. There's been precious little information from RE about the UK launch, regarding things like the colour and number off seats, {I hope mine comes with black seats (Halcyon black)),.and optional extras such as the Tripper. Interestingly, none of the insurance companys seem to have the bike on their lists yet, so not been able to get a quote. I guess a phone call would sort that out. So so glad I didn't buy the Meteor I test rode last September!! Thanks again for the Excellent review Mark, Stay safe.

@@drip_monke2542 I don't know if they're available in the UK, they don't seem to be on the list of accessories, but have seen them for sale on eBay from India.( and someone is selling a conversion kits including Tripper for the 650 Interceptor )There is a KZbin video showing someone taking off the headlight to reveal a lead with the square plug that fits in the base of the tripper unit, so it should hopefully be quite a simple fix.

Thanks for the review. Think this is the first one I’ve seen. I know RE said this was a whole new bike, but I’d be interested to see one side by side with a Bullet 500. It looks to me like they are very similar, with some minor tweaks and upgrades and they’ve replaced the 500 single for a 350. The Meteor still offers the better value for money, but the cruiser style is not for everyone. I’m sure RE will have a trials version and a scrambler version soon enough. Would be nice if they went a bit out there and did a flat tracker or even a super futuristic version with this same engine.

Beautiful Emerald Green color. For a nice runabout motorcycle I don’t think you could beat it. Royal Enfield continues to up the game on value motorcycles. There's the signals editon of this bike, which is supposed to be tribute to the signals division of the (Indian) military which has used this bike exclusively. It's completely blacked out and has dull camo military colours usually. That should be more to your liking. But this being classic, without the association of the military, chrome and shine looks very appropriate and attractive on these bikes. And trust me, in flesh the green is just absolutely marvelous, much so than the other colours. Even someone like me who doesn't love the chrome thinks some extra chrome would just compliment that brilliant green shade.

If I didn't already have a Himalayan I would buy one of these as a second bike. I have a BMW R1250R and it doesn't get used anything like as much as the little Enfield. Forget the low power output these things are so much fun.

At the shop I was torn between this green one and the Halcyon Gray ( really light blue ). The blue one wasn't ready to go our for a test ride yet, so the salesman pushed the green one out into the sunshine for us. And OMG - I'm so glad he did! For out in the bright sunlight this green one, which I had likened to British Racing Green in the showroom - turned out to be all full of sparkles! Which I hated! Sealed the deal for me! I came back a few days later and picked up my gorgeous blue 350. Most comfortable ride ever!

What a fantastic looking bike. Pity RE did not fully enclose the final drive chain as MZ used to do. If they had then the drive chain would last forever with little maintenance due to only having 20hp to deal with and being protected from the rain, grit + mud.

Love 'classic' styled motorcycles. Royal Enfield 'Classic' one of the best looking current production motorcycles on the road in my opinion. Hope Royal Enfield keeps the 'Classic' in the lineup as there is a market for classic standard frame style as well as mechanical simplicity.

Have been looking at getting one of these or a Meteor for my first bike in over 25 years. Love this green on the Classic but need to see the Gold trim in person. In some pics/vids it's a nice pale gold and in others it looks very pinky like a rose-gold. Hope to get a ride of both the Meteor and Classic in the next month or two. Cheers for the vid.

Nice informative vid, a modern interpretation of a trad 'brit-bike' from the 1950s or there-abouts. Without all the reliability issues with buying one of the original ones! And with build quality at a decent price. I have a trident 660 for faster riding, but will now buy one of these in the desert signals scheme, as a second bike! 👍
