I saw a Pavel video where he demonstrated an intermediate move he called a "shoulder pull" which will improve the snatch technique. I was struggling with inconsistency getting the KBell up, then I started doing these Should Pulls and after a while I was doing a very good snatch. You start with the swing motion and as you come up you bend your elbow then at should height you pull the Bell in, or pull your shoulder back slightly., then allow the Bell to return down to swing then repeat. It works on both strength and technique. Once you get that "pull" move down where you feel comfortable, it's much easier to make the transition to the snatch up move. Much easier. Search for Pavel's Snatch vid. I love Mark's channel and he has done wonders for this 72 year old body, but there's more than one way to skin a cat sometimes. Ya gotta admit, Mark has the most outrageous toys!! That Blazer is awesome, I'd love to hear it. What's under the hood Mark? You ought to do a video where you give a tour of your place, it looks really cool.

This is a particularly important video imo as Mark does such a good job working up to this and articulating why the fundamentals (standing well, holding the bell well, swings, cleans, presses, etc) are necessary to safely do snatches and get the full benefit from them. There really is no better way to spot a bad kb trainer than how quickly they expect you to work snatches in. By contrast, I’m in Austin and one of my friends went to a gym last week where they had *no* kb instruction (‘just follow along’) and their shtick is that they heat the room like it’s a bikram yoga studio (or just like outdoor austin?) so she said it was a room full of people trying to do kb *snatches* with sweaty hands on their first time with a kb. ?!?! Fortunately she is also a Wildman fan and knew that throwing snatches without working up to them is bad news. Mark, thx as always for your generous and outstanding instruction.

Fantastic. Really like how you always break down all of the six basic movements of KB into those prep exercises. I who learned all of them in a matter of days a few years ago benefit immensely from this, helps tons with questioning and refining my technique. Which - as a bonus - is a lot of fun!!

I found you channel during the lockdowns and have been slowly building up my reps and working to improve my form. I thought I had the snatch down but I've learnt a few new things in this video that I'm going to start implementing as I work up to my next weight. Thank you 🙏🏽

So true about perfecting others before you get to the snatch. I went to a gym and the trainer had many of us do snatches. I was all bruised up. Trainer said I’ll eventually learn and did not give me cues 🤔….I left.

Best kettelbell instruction I've seen. This video is gold. All valuable information. I really appreciate there was no BS, distractions, crappy attempts at humor, or in-video ads. Plus you wear shoes. (nobody wants to look at a male's feet) Cool ride too. I had one like it in high school.

My plan to get into the snatch is to finish working through the C&P perfect path from 16k to 32k (did 12k to 28k), so my hope is two full runs through this I should have my technique close enough to solid that I can do the snatch with good form and run through that perfect path from 16k to 32k. Also working swing and TGU programs, so if I don't have my form right by then, I'm just not meant for this.
@heckl0r
@heckl0r 10 ай бұрын
28kg C&P you’ll smash snatches at 16 & 20kg; you’ll be hitting the 200 in 10 mins very fast.

Long-time fan of your videos and no-nonsense teaching style, Mark. Have mostly been doing static strength moves with my KBs to date (plus swings of course), would love to progress into more dynamic moves but nervous of injury after picking up a nasty shoulder impingement through over-enthusiastic training during lockdown. Is there a training plan you'd recommend for someone who's not a total beginner to strength training or KB basics, but is a novice with the more dynamic moves?

Cross train with clubs. Basis of strength program. That will predictably build the movements you need to do the fun stuff in a predictable way. Then come back to fancy kb after you’ve done 3 weights

Technique, technique, technique...something went "boing" in my low back doing the suitcase deadlifts in the TOI program. I'm only two weeks in and I'm trying to not get discouraged. I'm hoping this gets better soon so I can get back at it.

A few years ago I hurt myself pretty good working out and could barely move. Changing positions and sitting up hurt like crazy. Anyway, what helped me was deep breathing in place of workout sessions. I feel like not only did it help with my recovery and keep me from getting discouraged, but I think my lung capacity improved significantly. I believe my lung capacity would not have improved if it was not for my injury and when I finally returned to training almost two months later, it was not joltingly painful. Please give deep breathing a try while you are recovering. You can do it five minutes here, ten minutes there and in various positions like sitting up, lying down, or standing. For best results, try to mentally scan and focus on releasing tension through breath while deep breathing; just don't force anything. Best of luck to you!

Popped my back out doing 32kg swings followed by trying to lift 40kg batteries out of ride on floor cleaners. Not good or smart. Going to a physiotherapist, and using loaded mobility exercises (pigeon pose, McGill Big 3, etc) were the path back. Still took 6 weeks till I braved resistance training. Good luck!
