This was my friend Tim's favorite tune. He passed away too young, but every time I hear it, a big smile appears on my face with the memories of my teenage years.

I saw them in Tampa 1998 at the venue then known as "The Ice Palace". Phenomenal show!!
@twwtjohns2 жыл бұрын
@@squinkygordon1322 That's the same show we were at. We were in the lower level just to the right of the stage about 6 rows up from the railing.
@squinkygordon13222 жыл бұрын
@@twwtjohns Sounds like you had much better seats than we did! Unfortunately, I no longer have the ticket stub but we were seated in the upper level somewhere but near the front. Robert & Jimmy were about 4" tall from my perspective, lol. At the start of the show, I remember the riff for "The Wanton Song" kicking in while the lights were still low and then being turned up the moment Robert Plant started singing. I think they closed with "Rock N Roll". I'd been disappointed after watching the previous performances at Live Aid in '85 and the '88 Atlantic Records 50th Anniversary shows, so I was blown away that Plant seemed to have much of his old Zeppelin voice back. I was also pleasantly surprised to hear "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You". How about Jimmy Page using the bow unexpectedly during the middle of (if I remember correctly)... "How Many More Times". I also was very impressed with the drummer Michael Lee (RIP). For me personally, it was the best concert I've ever seen!
@twwtjohns2 жыл бұрын
@@squinkygordon1322 It was a great show. We also saw Robert Plant twice in the early 90s. He mostly did his own songs but interspersed a few Zeppelin songs throughout. He even had a guitarist who looked just like Jimmy buy 1970s Jimmy not 1990s Jimmy.
@squinkygordon13222 жыл бұрын

This song is a serious bitch to sing as most of the song is in countertenor, which is extremely difficult for most (range between tenor & sopranist) to sing. The easiest parts of the song to sing are the sopranist parts and screams, but the main lyric / melody line is really, really hard.

I saw Page & Plant in October 1995 at Madison Square Garden and then again in July 1998 at the Garden. Page was in very good to great shape on the '98 tour. Aside from the show I was at in '98 I've heard a lot of recordings from that tour, especially the second half of 1998. Both Page & Plant were on fire. Plant belting it out a lot and hitting a lot of the tougher notes, Page playing at most times like he did in 1973. Plus, love that they would pull out the obscure Zepp song here and there.

I didn't get to see them in '98 unfortunately. Saw them in Kansas City in '95. You have just confirmed what id noticed only from watching KZbin videos is that Page was a lot sharper in '98 then he was in '95. I've watched the Germany shows (Bizarre Festival) and many others. I guess Jimmy must've just had that guitar in his hands much more leading up to '98 than he did pre '95.
