Im a huge fan of the bladed jig. I have Chatterbaits and Thunder Crickets. We both know that they are a creation of ZMan products. This is what I learned. Thunder Crickets are designed different. The sound is also different due to the way they are designed & material they are constructed of. The trailers used will change the cadence and tone of the" click". Size of line and use of braided line plays a factor as well. Hands down this bait is versatile and has no limits to it's abilities. That's why I love it so much. I've used it side by side with spinnerbaits. The presentation is not the same & you will have different results. Color combinations are a huge factor also. It is my favorite technique to fish. Show Dirt is a awesome idea 👌. Thank you for sharing this concept.

2004 in a backwater area off the western basin of Lake Erie I made my first cast with OG chatter bait ,4lb largemouth. Been hooked ever since. 2005 did really good in tournaments catching smallmouth on one while most guys were throwing lipless baits. Like Z said, gotta be hittin something.

Good knowledge Mark, as always. I fish my bladed jigs on a 7’5” MH/ fast action rod but a 8.5:1 Curado DC. Turning the handle super slow and always had great success doing that. Thanks Mark Zona, I will try the technique you talked about fishing it like a jig. I always have to rods set up with blades jigs, jack hammer one one and a thunder cricket on another.

Hay z two quick questions does blade color make a difference and what do you prefer in muddy or water thank you I would really appreciate it
@MarkZonaFishing4 жыл бұрын
I do prefer painted blades whether it's green pumpkin or pearl like you saw in the video. I just prefer to have my blade match the entire bait. In extreme muddy water I will use all white or all black. Those seem to perform the best in really muddy water.

How do you decide between a baitcaster and a spinning reel?
@MarkZonaFishing4 жыл бұрын
I want a lot of power when I'm fishing a bladed jib both in the rod and a reel. I feel that a baitcaster rod and reel gives me more power.

Hey Z! Give us some more filthy dirt soon! I keep up with Lews, SK and Todd's channel. JB3 is terrific also. Love all the JUICE! When are you and Todd doing a show together? That would be awesome!
@TigerOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
If you use a bait like the Rage bug that has a wide body, it won't roll and hang in wood cover much less often than when using a minnow bait will. The slim body of a swim bait or minnow bait (like the Blade Minnow) will allow the lure to roll when crossing limbs and logs, while the wide body creature bait (like a Rage Bug) prevents the roll.

I lose a lot of my chartreuse bladed jigs up here in the north woods. Do you recommend a leader? If so, what size and length.
@MarkZonaFishing4 жыл бұрын
I never use a leader. I feel it kills a lot of the natural action of your baits.

My personal best came off a naked bladed jig last March. 9-6. Was fishing in heavy cover like a jig. Pulled it through some buck brush then hit some hydrilla and bam bout lost the rod. Thought it was a big bowfin. Ran under the boat then broke water and I was omg look at this stud. Chatter bait catches biguns. Smallest on it is 3-12. Y’all do the math
