You look 16 years old in this vid! Seriously though, you've inspired me to buy a kayak and now it's my favorite hobby. I've lost 30lbs doing it for 1 year.

Yea I saw them once I got home! Maybe some early Spanish or Spotted Mackerel... maybe Wahoo. On the original footage you can see that there was a decent school there. Would have made few more passes if I knew. Funny, thats actually what I was targeting, but I'll take the Marlin :)

Thanks Mate, I got my kayak secondhand but the the distributor is in Yatla "Australian Kayak Specialists" Dennis is the man and is really helpful. Most of the fibreglass fishing skis are shipped over from South Africa.

How big of a role do you feel a depth finder has in kayak fishing?i have a kayak and am considering getting a depth finder.
@rokkitkit9 жыл бұрын
JAKEBrakeModel94 I use my sounder all the time, this video is a while back so I only had a simple greyscale unit but it played a big role on the day. First it allowed me to find Iive bait while trolling around. Without the sounder I would have had to go to the bait reef and hope I was on the spot. Then just before hook up I saw some nice action on the sounder so decided to stop and let the live bait sink while I checked the dead bait. I may never had stopped there without the sounder giving me hints. These days I have a Lowrance Combo unit with GPS which is great, I mark anything that looks interesting that may be worth going back to. If fishing with jigs or plastics I wouldn't even bother with out the sounder. The new sounder allows me to build up a detailed map of my local fishing spots and really know what I'm paddling over marking all the hot spots... So yea I am pretty big fan!

Ha this is my oldest vid on the channel! No people watching back then😆
@vash3476 жыл бұрын
Dude, you have great videos. People are coming. I watch all your new stuff. The only thing I would say if you want to get new viewers. Giving an intro on the setup is super important... It makes people relate to how you fish... Giving advice as well... I'll watch either way as I have been, but I have noticed that in your videos that isn't something you address too much...

Damn dude nice! Im 30 mins away from the gold coast! i wish we could go fishing together! How much did your kayak cost?
@rokkitkit8 жыл бұрын
+NickyTV Cheers mate, my kayak is around $3000 new but you can find ones second hand for around $2000ish. If your ever keen to get out and meet some locals (me included) that fish around Plam Beach then launching from 9th or 7th ave is the way to go. There's usually some one launching from there at first light on good weather days.

how deep a water did you catch this marlin in?
@rokkitkit9 жыл бұрын
Hi Aaron, it was in 25 meters, so pretty shallow.
@MrAjjrpighunter9 жыл бұрын
good work, loved watching your videos and the amount of fish you get so close to shore. do you have certain spots you fish at? or just all along the GC?
@rokkitkit9 жыл бұрын
+Aaron Jennings Thanks Mate, fish most of the popular reefs around the Gold Coast up to around 8km out. Also try to get away to different areas up and down the East coast when possible. Not enough though :)
@FishingAdventuresDubai6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Jennings wow 25 meters is pretty deep for us. The maximum depth we have here in around Persian Gulf is about 11.12 meters no matter how far out you go. That's why we don't have big fish like Marlins,tunas, amber jacks, mahi, GT etc . Awsome catch bro

Why not eat marlin
@rokkitkit7 жыл бұрын
Iv tried it in Hawaii... and I know Its the same as taking any other fish when it really comes down to it... But they are a very impressive looking fish... I guess its similar to the same reason I don't eat a lot of animals... like dog... I know deep down Im still taking a life thats as valid as the next. Its always a tricky one to answer.
