Sep 2022. I visited West Kirby Beach at high tide, then returned during low tide to explore the Hilbre Islands. Turns out I got marooned under a new moon. Recorded with a Samsung Galaxy S20.

Interesting video. Love how you can tell the time of the high tide by the sound of the waves and it's height by the smell of the sea air.

Outstanding video fella, given me some ideas of my own for the future.. the Islands have always been part of every proud Wirralians life and should be part of our future too 👍

100% can't argue with that! I was there the other day wading in quite a high tide, and was surprised to see that the Little Eye stays above water. Can only imagine what the area looked like when Meols was a massive port and the bay was filled with many sandy islets. Named after the daughter of 7th-century Pagan King Penda of Mercia. So much history on the Wirral, starting to wonder why they don't teach it in local schools...

Thanks for the kind words Gill. Last meal I made outdoors was a halloumi burger, with mushrooms and spinach. Turned out better than I usually make at home! Will try the tomatoes next time, making myself hungry now though 😆 Will

Just came across your channel and I thoroughly enjoyed your video on Bidston Hill. I lived there as a kid and moved to the Port later on. I moved to a desolate Scottish Island far North around a year ago, and yearn for a bit of home. Your videos have satisfied that yearning, somewhat - so I thank you. I absolutely love your channel and am now a proud subscriber 😊.

Hi Clara, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! Really appreciate the kind words, and thanks for subbing. Got plans for many more Wirral vids yet, even have an idea for something which may start in Ellesmere Port lol, but it's a bit too ambitious an idea for now! 😅 How is Scotland and your little desolate island this time of year? There are some beautiful places up there! Thanks again, Will 🙏

@@WirralWill Oh, not a problem! I appreciate the reply 😊 All is well here, rugged, peaceful, desolate and unspoiled. We had snow last week and I couldn’t get my car up the road, so stayed home - very cold, but so festive and fitting for this time of year. There are some really nice woodland walks in the Port. I can think of a few more hidden gems! I think your channel is fab. The blend of history, folk lore, local scenery and the overall vibe is just perfect. Your North Wales videos are also enjoyable to watch. Have you thought about venturing out to Anglesey? There’s so much there to do and see. Living on the Wirral means there’s some really great places just a stone’s throw away. You really put that across well in your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing, looking forward to seeing some more of your content. Have a lovely festive period, what ever it is you’re doing 😊.

@@claralouise6433 Sounds like a beautiful place! Must be like chalk and cheese compared to the hussle and bustle living down here on de Mersey. We had frozen rain and really heavy sleet for a day, that's as good as it got for us. Your kind words honestly mean a lot! I do this as a labour of love really, to share with family and friends, but it does make me smile to hear other people "get it" and appreciate it. So thanks for that! Anglesey is definitely on the to-do list! Is that a subscriber request? 😄So many ancient and beautiful places there... I'll make it happen in 2023! And Merry Christmas! Let the jollyness of the season take you and all that. Will 🙏

Excellent, Bill. Always best to go to Hilbre prepared for a night outdoors, (in case you get accidentally marooned, like). Were they your hoofprints in the sand, Billy, or...? I'd argue with your statement that "nothing of any note has ever happened here"; I had my first ever acid trip on the Middle Eye in 1972, and have had many exciting and interesting experiences there over the ensuing decades. That meal looked great, the sort of repast that should be followed by fruit loaf for afters. Nice one, Billy lad. I purely buzzed off that.

@@WirralWill sorry for late response Will. Firstly wow, it is amazing. Forgot how free you can be and how tied my Mrs keeps me 😂😂 haha joking (as she may read this😉) just got back, no phone no link with society it was bliss mate. You were right I would and did love it. Once i got over the fear and sounds the first night I was fine. Tbf the whisky night cap helped. But it was amazing just being able and knowing you need not rely on the modern set up to get by. I say that like I've bear grills'ed it but I do think I took too much with me, learning curve. You'll be proud. I plan on setting a channel up so I attempted to record things as professional as I could. Looking like a lemon walking into shot etc 😂 gave you a shout out too. I'll wait until I've got a fair few vids before I "go live" but thanks. You've given me the bug. Literally just got back. Tested out some cheap gear and I kid you not, it shocked me in a positive sense, cheap tent (wind proof without doubt) sealed well. Tiny palm of hand stove (made a great stew, boiled water in 5 mins) multitool cheap but solid (saw impressed me) sleeping bag I had to open as too hot. I expected a worse experience however it was the opposite. Wanna get out again asap. Take care Sir. 👍❤
