Our concept of women as primary caregivers has caused much of the problem. In scripture, both women and children belong to their head of house, the husband and father, who is primary caregiver and teacher of all of them, with women working under them as delegate caregivers and teachers for the children when the father is not present. When we change this to women as primary caregivers, and diminish the position of the father, we get the problems we have today. I would push back somewhat though on the women being more emotional idea. Men are just as emotional; it's simply that they are able to parse out their emotions, which allows them to be leaders.

Silly me just being super nervous. ha ha. Thanks for the correction. Men are deffinately the ones who teach their wife scripture in the home, so it would make sense for the men to be the spiritual teachers over children as well (1 Cor. 14). I defenitaly take the teaching role in regards to my child. Don't trust the wife and I feel a need to train my child in the way they should go. Women being more emotional then men has caused quite a stir on the internet. They claim women are more "emotionally intellegent" and express emotion more, but men and women are just as emotional. Sounds like feminist teaching to me :( Yes, men are able to make more intelligent decisions based on their ability not to be decieved as easily by their emotions. Thank you.

@@michaelsayen4360 True. The way I express it is as a leader and delegate model, with the wife as delegate to the husband. If both the husband and wife are present in the home, the husband teaches and disciplines. If just the wife is present in the home, because the husband is working or out for another reason, she teaches and disciplines. The husband also teaches the wife, and disciplines the wife, though in a different way from the children. Seeing the mother's authority as in a sense an extension of the father's authority is helpful here. Once again, great discussion.
