In 75, he fell while walking along a mount trail, roughly 5-6 hundred feel, smacking against several large rocks/boulders/trees along the way, requiring MULTIPLE surgeries to literally put his skull (face) back together, fearing that the injuries would ruin his musical career....... AND while going through all that and the recovery process, he was also dealing with a rather BITTER divorce. Hank Williams Jr, came out of the injuries and surgeries, as well as the divorce, with a new outlook on life. He was going to REFUSE to continue to be a "son tribute to his father" type of act and go his own way. AFTER he moved more into a "rock-n-roll" type of sound with chords being played, and an ATTITUDE of "not saying I'm sorry", his career took off like a rocket. And for around a DECADE (if 2) Hank Williams Jr was considered to be one of the BIGGEST 'country acts' in the world. On the iconic levels of Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings. And in the process, actually made his OWN name in the industry under his own terms, that when he DOES play one of his father's song it is due to a DESIRE to pay tribute to his father, NOT to do it for the record labels to keep making money off his father's songs.

Although his father (Hank Williams Sr.) died when his son was very young, he obviously inherited his dad's talent. Being fearless doesn't mean one is brave - bravery is knowing the consequences, being afraid of those consequences but following through despite the fear.

I guess this is a good introduction to Hank Williams JR, a lot of reactors do this song, but he has a lot of hits...I mean a lot. There's a reason why he won numerous awards. I've been a fan of his since the early 80's (when I was a kid). Hard to pick a favorite, one I do like is a slow song "Blues Man". If you want to hear an upbeat song of his do "Man to Man". Hank does Traditional Country, Blues, Southern Rock.

City folk don't realize that the toughest people in America are in the country. I'm from the backwoods hills of Arkansas and trust me we don't play games down here. Country living is a way of life. You have to be hard to live it. Living off the land, know how to hunt, fish, track, trap, build a fire, build shelter, and shoot. I grew up running around in the woods. I was taught to survive in the wilderness at a young age. I tell people all the time to learn these skills bc the way the world is now y'all gonna need thise skills. Move out of the cities, move to small towns and the country. Trust me its a lot safer and we always have our neighbors backs.

I don't care much about the confederate flag thing. Then again, I don't go through life looking for triggers. I grew up in the southwest, but I always looked at that flag as more of a historical thing. I know some people take it for more than that, but to me it is sticks and stones. Being raised in Texas, if I adopted that mentality, I would have to declare war on half my neighbors for having Mexican flags on their yards or cars. I think it is just angry looking for a reason. If someone hasn't already said, the song you were thinking about was Try That In A Small Town.

You two are wonderful. Sort of restores my faith in humanity. You have a beautiful wife and child sir. I can tell she's special., and so are you. So blessed. "Country Boy Can Survive" is an iconic song. I'd like to see you react to some of my favorite Country artists of the past. The legendary Crystal Gayle. Vastly underrated talents like Lari White, Holly Dunn, Kelly Willis, James House, Doborah Allen, Radney Foster among others. With Lari I'd start with her duet that she Co-wrote with Travis Tritt "Helping Me Get Over You" from 1997. The video has over 30 million views on KZbin. Also check out "Don't Go Home Again (Flies On The Butter), "Wishes and Stepping Stone". "Now I Know" and "Lead Me Not" are kind of her signatures, but she had many other great songs. Tremendous song writer, phenomenal voice and a great live performer. Sadly, Lari died of Cancer in January of 2018. She was just 52. I'm trying to get her noticed by the younger generation.
