What is being taught here is duty sex. Duty sex is not the same as making love. My husband does NOT want duty sex. I think this teaching that it doesn't matter what the wife wants is terrible, not taking her into account at all. That makes her USED, not LOVED. My husband is not an animal who requires his every sexual whim/urge/thought/feeling to be acted upon. He is a mature man. He loves me more than he loves himself, and respects me. He doesn't want me to be sexual whenever he feels like it and think that it doesn't matter what I want or need. The reverse is true too. I love and respect him for that. Saying, "not now, dear" is not a rejection. It is an "ask me later." "Husbands, love your wives just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her." Eph. 5:25 Doesn't that sound like a sensitive man who should take his wife's thoughts and feelings into account? It does to me. Expecting sex on demand is not loving. It is selfish.... My husband also didn't need to be told to listen to me and share his thoughts and feelings with me. We talk all the time, are in contact all day and make each other laugh. That's important. We've been married for 43 years, and don't have arguments anymore. We have discussions. We are completely wound around each other.

Agree ' I would say to Jim that it's unrealistic and unfair to expect a man to live under this kind of pressure from the minute he wakes up to the minute it's time to call it a night. Naturally Men are not hard wired to dance around emotions all day... We are just simply hard wire to just love, provide, reproduce, and protect our woman, home's and children that's it! Who has the time to baby an adult just to get some sex. I rather be celibate. For crying out loud, how am I not inclusive. The fact that I have to work so hard to satisfy her is a total turn off. I can't be intimate with someone who isn't capable of handling their own happiness. And yes, the fact that its been used as a bargaining tool, to fix all the problems in her life, is a huge problem. I don't have time for this. I can suppress my sex drive with a few supplements, thank you very much. More time for computer science, and electrical engineering that way.

It's very very difficult for men. In the marriage covenant, the man being the spiritual leader is responsible and because of that responsibility, unless the man is empowered by the Spirit of God, it will more likely destroy the man - kinda like Christ giving his life for the Church. This is probably why a lot of men are now reluctant to ever get married: the man gives and gives with the possibility of never receiving in return, which is the both the point and the unfortunate downside of unconditional love....so I totally see and understand your point.

sedruol I believe that it's important for the church to discuss sex. God created it for husbands and wives. The problem is that so many people have connected to sex inappropriately so now everyone sees it as something that's wrong or bad... it was created by God for us so how can it be wrong... Christians need to know how to re-train their thinking about it and what better way then to learn it from a teacher who is teaching based on the bible.

No, women are also adults and men also have emotional needs, neither needs to be shepherded like they can't think for themselves. Compartmentalization might be more common in men but it is not a given that men always do it that women never do. Whoever can not compartmentalize at a given moment is just as responsible for voicing that as their partner is for noticing it. Contrarywise men also need non-sexual touch, attention and conversation. Men are also human beings they're not little vacuum cleaners that you can shove in a closet when your done with them. What do you mean by ""sin""? Is this just an attempt to shame people for oral sex without actually saying it? Sexual needs are unchangeable, I know it's a bit off topic but that's a funny thing to say coming from someone who's almost certainly homophobic. Men do need to talk about their feelings, telling them that you don't care about what they think is probably the wrong response because if someone can never talk about their feelings there's usually a reason. The same for sex, if a person can't ever have sex there's a reason.
