My parents were married for 61 years (Dad passed on Sunday suddenly). When you asked him about his marriage and my Mom- he’d have told you that he was on his 61st year of his honeymoon. Relationships are hard and most people these days have no sense of commitment.

Also people lie about their marriages. I would never say anything to hurt my husband’s feelings and I’m certainly not going to tell my son anything negative about our marriage. I save that for therapy. 😂

@@c.j.deyoungiii2704 1. Its "Their" (marriage), not they're. 2. My father would have told u the same (honeymoon). He died just after they had their 56th anniversary. BUT my mom made him suffer through so many things (unnecessarily) that I often thought, he should have divorced her. According to research supposedly husbands only walk away if they have another partner already lined up. And my dad never would have been unfaithful to her. So he suffered through several decades, something I would not have done. 3. You don't know what ur mom was feeling (and women are often very good at hiding their "private/marital issues").

I lost my wife to breast cancer 5 years ago. She was 43 and I was 51 at the time. We were a professional sailing and mountaineering team. She was my best fried and the love of my life. I'll miss her til I draw my last breath. That being said, I have a different life now and though I loved being married...I'm content with doing my own thing. The last thing I want, is to be in a romantic relationship for the time being. I'm really enjoying my solitude. I guess my superpower is that I can endlessly entertain myself 'cause life is so damn interesting!

I was married. But we ended up living alone together. Love is expensive. You have to be able to afford to be together. Then you can come up with other reasons to dislike each other. It has to be good for both of you.

I was widowed after 17 years of bliss. 4 years later, I start dating a guy everyone and their brother said was SO cute and SO nice, that I should marry him. I did. Now, my daughter (who will be 8 next month) tells me that as often as her dad and I fight, it's ok with her if we separate because she knows I'll let her visit her dad as much as she wants. What does that tell you?

My husband and I were blissfully, happily together 13 years before we decided to get married (a pandemic move to ensure each was taken care of in the event…). Now we hate each other. Does anyone remember the Goldie Hawn Burt Reynolds movie “Best Friends?” I feel like if we got divorced, we’d go back to being happily and blissfully in love. Marriage and its expectations (that were not there prior to getting legally married) seems to have destroyed us. If you’re together and you’re happy, why f*** it up by involving the government and society?

I don't mean to pry, but can you more clearly describe what you mean by "marriage and its expectations" and "involving the government and society"? What changed in your actual relationship? And why? I've been divorced once, and widowed once, and now peaceably solo, and to me, that wedding certificate was never anything more than a piece of legal security, for medical purposes, for financial/tax purposes. It didn't change how we viewed each other, or how we interrelated. So, I'm curious what happened with yours

I think it’s great that we have divorce. People can do whatever they want if it doesn’t hurt anyone. Marriage has lots of different stages. For me, as an old woman married to a man I love, all the effort has been worth it. But at different times I felt different. I am grateful that we have something rare-being totally honest with each other and being best friends.

45 years old, never married. I am the happiest person in my family and circle of friends who are married. Not ONE of my family / friends who are married are in a happy marriage (at least not after 5 years of marriage anyway.. they all love it for the first few years). They're all stressed and miserable... Me? Sufficiently happy and content. I date when I feel like it and move on, making it clear I'm not interested in long term relationships. Has worked for me for my 25 years as an adult. Marriage looks like nothing but a burden and misery... I suppose it helps I also never want children.

I'm trying out candies I write this wearing my Grateful Dead socks with the deadhead but yeah I mean I really do enjoy smoking cannabis rolled in hemp or even hemp cannabis rolled in hemp but I just need to cut back and I need to also cut back on the sugar so that's the goal here random thought while listening to this I'm going to again quit Red Bull I just really hope I cut it down to a few a month would even be good and then basically all but quit the smoking maybe special occasions because I've just smoked too much and if I can get these candies to work and they would work if the Republicans in Minnesota weren't so stingy all the time and the FED it legalizes hemp and then Minnesota Outlaws it and they restrict dosage to 5 mg which is absurd so the cheapest deal in Minnesota for 50 mg is probably $10 and let me tell you it's way more than one gummy like it is elsewhere that's all I'm saying okay so those are the goals

My niece's wedding cake was served, but it was inedible. I've seen cakes with the flat, rolled "icing," but this was the only time I tried one. I've searched for what this nasty stuff is called. Fonant, yuck. I think it is supposed to look pretty. To me, it looks stupid and pretentious, but I think that's the point. 🤷‍♀️ Oh, and expensive. But it tastes really gross. A cardboard picture of a pretty cake would taste better.
