After that month, it doesn’t say he could marry her. It said that he could then go into her. It doesn’t even say that she wanted any of this act at all. It still bothers me….

Going in to her is used in the old testament to indicate marriage. And her consent is implied in the text.
@tyblue4359

@@FromValkyrie The consent is not implied in the text. This video nor the scripture tells that. If you believe so, explain where the consent is. Also, “go into her” (aka sex) means that the marriage was consummated. That’s not showing that it was actually wanted by the woman. The text explains that the man will wait for 1 month, then he is allowed to do this act. Again…that’s not consent…

@@tyblue4359 Because you have tunnel vision and narrow in on the one sentence of the one verse. If you had the ability to read broadly and actually read the entire body of books, you would learn that the captives were to be treated as native born, with the same rights as the Hebrews. This applies to all spheres of life. Several times in the pentateuch, instructions are given on how the "foreigners amongst you" are to be treated with care, love and respect. Perhaps actually read the entire text sometime.

@@FromValkyrieno bc the Hebrew doesn't imply consent whatsoever it implies having sex with the woman after humiliating her by shaving her head as long as you wait 30 days after genociding her family

Sir, respectfully. A woman of captive was simply forced to be with the man. Just because she was ond of an enemy not a human. I hope you see the flaws. The woman in here was forced to sleep. She was humiliated by shaving her head and trimming her nail. Not to forget that if the man is not pleased. Basically bored with her he can let her go. I'm sorry but isn't Christianity about Love? This is extremely disturbing and you know it too.

@@phoenixrising4172 I was looking for textual confirmation of whether or not it was forced. I'm not convinced by the argument that the woman would never want to marry someone of a nation who destroyed her nation. For example, we see the harlot Rahab who sides with the spies who are attacking her nation. It doesn't seem implausible to me that the captive woman would integrate herself with the Israelites given that her own nation practiced child sacrifice, sodomy, beastiality, incest, witchcraft and likely oppression of women (among other things)

@@phoenixrising4172 You guys always act as if those ancient humans lived by the idealistic standards we do today that are a result of hundreds of years of Christian doctrine being implemented in society. Before this women had zero rights except for in few fringe cultures. One of those few cultures was that of the Israelite, who were commanded to protect and honour their women rather than just take advantage as most men did in their cultures at the time.

@@phoenixrising4172 let's the just say her male members in her family including her husband treated her like this. Quran 2:223 "Your women are a field for you, so approach your fields whichever way you like" Or treated her as a punching bag Quran 4:34 As for women whose disobedience you fear, convince them, and leave them apart in beds, and beat them according to hadiths till their skin is green" Any women would love to escape this captivity even if its done by her own family. Don't you see the news many women from Islamic state ran to the west and marry men there. Just like in India etc many marry a polytheists men like hindus over their own? Why just to save themselves from the garbage treatment.

@@phoenixrising4172 There is a video of a woman who was beat by her husband while pregnant and after having children, his family was fine with it and treated her like trash and when she escaped and ran back to her family they shamed her and told her not to bring shame on them. She had no one to help her. She was finally able to escape and came to America to work as a single mother. This is a modern story.. can you imagine back then? This story only if any of those evil people wanted you could be stoned to death. Do you think this woman would have cared if her abusive family was killed? She probably would have felt rescued. Also the reason (one of many) that women shouldn’t have sex before marriage is bc if a man sleeps with you before getting to know you, he immediately feels shame after sleeping with you. You can look up the hormonal changes once a man sleeps with a woman. Forcing him to take her in for a month and not touch her, forces him to have to get to know her and forces her to get to know him and his life. I’m not saying this is a perfect system but I guarantee it was better than raping whoever you wanted after winning a war.

Hey goes “go in to her” translates from the Hebrew to - “and he shall go to her”. Implying marriage and the consummation of marriage. Not sleeping with her before marriage. And we know God is saying these things because the normal at the time is unfortunately abuse. So God is setting a much higher standard. We also know God is a God of love. And wouldn’t allow a non consensual marriage.

@@Revivalism23 yes and sold by their own fathers as slaves (sexual abuse implied) exodus 21:7 "If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as menservants do" that is, she will never go free as the men do, bc she has been sexually humiliated just like the captive women in these verses were not to be sold again for the same reason. Also, consider the slave surrogates hagar and bilhah--- they weren't asked they were told they'd produce children for the couple . They were "gone into" just as soon as the couple decided they'd make a baby using their own properties womb 🤷‍♀️

@@taylorjeffery4363 If your English translation says the man is “Selling” his daughter, then that translation is failing you. This is more of a man arranging a marriage for his daughter. In some cases, it would be sending his daughter to work as a maidservant for someone else, and then someone in that family falls in love with her and wants to marry her. The man is not selling his daughter into slavery! Further, the phrase “she shall not go out as the male servants do,” refers to the extra protections and rights given to her because she is a female. It talks about marital rights Read the rest of the passage, my friend. It states that anyone who marries her must be able to provide for her food, her clothing, and her offspring etc. If she is not thus provided for, she is released from that abusive man with no other legal hoops to jump through. This is a law protecting women from abuse, my friend.
