King K. Rool and the Kremlings showing up in the upcoming Mario Kart game for Switch 2 is an instant buy for me.

These design changes are also present in the new merch. Personally i dig this design. Fits modern dks attitude, have you heard what he sounds like in returns compared to dkc1? He went from gorilla noises to the goofy noises we are used to now. If anything this is the culmination of nintendo making him less 'edgy' and more 'loveable oaf'. But that said, I will miss the old design too.

Yeah, I think they're going to give it a try. Maybe that's built off the idea that he's more known in mario spinoffs, so after changing him in mario Kart, they are using that look since MK is so huge in marketing power. I don't think it will last forever but there will be a period where DK just looked different for some reason.

I dont mind this design but: I like to think that they will use this design for Mario Spin offs but keep his country design as it is on the country games, mostly seemingly due to this design fitting more with the Mario artstyle whenever they are drawn in 2D.

Even if this game had a roster of 100 characters, I still don’t see King K. Rool making the cut. If the developers follow the approach of Mario Kart 8 and Tour, where multiple variations of the same character take up roster spots, there simply won’t be much room left. With additions like Dr. Mario, Baby Rosalina, Pink Gold Peach, Baby Dr. Mario, Dr. Pink Gold Peach, Classic Arcade Pixel DK, Baby Wario, Baby Waluigi, and more, K. Rool’s chances look slim.

He's not going to be a costume. Fans act like it's a bigger change than it is, they just raised his eyebrow slightly to fit the cartoonish art style of this singular game. It's really not that crazy.

It's just for Mario Kart because everyone looks more cartoonish. They also probably want to get kids who watched the movie to buy the console by putting this DK in the game, but then they'll revert back for games that have normal artstyles.

Really? Donkey Kong from Movie doesn't exist in Any Video Games! Except for any Video Games based off from Movie Series.

@@jackwheatley4776I don’t think you get it, *that is the RARE donkey Kong model.* it’s just heavily adjusted so DK can be more expressive as a character ingame, and look closer to the OG design. Currently that’s just his neutral expression ingame and I wouldn’t be surprised if he looked better in the new reveals in April. This is the same with all the new models, Mario himself looks more like Kotabe’s design, while retaining his modern look. It’s not much of a big change, honestly I don’t really mind it and I think it looks good.

Considering production on the theme park chugged along so slowly (like, planned before smash ultimate slow) then there is a chance they could alter DK's core design, but I don't think they'll be him either. Maybe in some mario titles, but not here on out. As for K Rool, I'm super interested to see how he would look in a newer Mario game. This could end up being his new design, evolving from the smash one into a more cartoony appearance. Would be cool.

people forget that when they just said oh he looks like classic DK they forget that classic DK is just cranky kong the DK we know is not that cause that old DK was cranky also i hope to god it's just an skin instead and not a new design at all

I dig the new DK 😅 But like who cares if its a redisign or the OG and even if we had new characters , MK needs to have like each character has their own special ability or moves Mk8 deluxe has it where small characters can speed up more so it has a bit of variability but like between child Mario and child luigi there is no difference Like there needs to be more 😅 But I know they won’t do it like that , but maybe introduce a new game mode where it does happen would be interesting 🤔
