Sounds soooo good! Funny thing the plexi... For me it's one of those amps that when i hear them, like this, it sounds amazing to me. But when i play on one i always feel the gain is much thinner, and I find myself wanting more. I end up boosting it looking for a little more saturation, and then it doesn't sound like the same plexi tones that make me love a plexi.

Sounds fantastic. That IS the sound. I know it isn’t as ‘saturated’ as some might prefer, but do you find that there is ample sustain regardless? My experience with the SV20 is that there is just a great sustain that almost seems to make up for the lack of distortion, if that makes sense. The notes just ring and are so present.

@@blakemansfield2356 I have a PPIMV on mine so it’s not so scary. But on full it’s ungodly… in a good way. Also if you didn’t know the normal channel volume adds low end when turned up when you are plugged into the bright channel. Where you have it in the video is pretty high for rock rhythm tones from my experience. Around 9 o clock or below is good I think, too flubby otherwise

@@blakemansfield2356 yes even when not jumpered. My usual settings are like presence noon-2, bass 9 o clock or lower, even off, mids 1-2 o clock, treble same as mids or bit higher, bright vol around 1-3 o clock and normal basically off. Then peg back PPIMV, usually about noon-2 so it tames it a bit and not pushing the output tubes too hard.

I really wonder. How did you get so much gain and distorion from Plexi head? In real life it's almost clean. Even with high output humbuckers it sounds a little bit crunchy (with no OD pedal) and not so beefy and distorted as yours. Do you have some mods (like cascading gain stages) or do you use some power attenuator crankin power amp to distortion?

Hey man - I think it depends on how particular you are. To me - they are quite different. The big downside to the plexi is you need a power station to actually use it on a regular basis. Also, I’d be taking a hard look at friedmans PLEX. Think it’s being released this week

I just got one of these and noticed something with the Treble Knob and don’t know if it’s a failure or a feature. On yours when you lower the Treble knob past 12 o’clock does it seem to get a bassy volume boost? It’s strange I figured the treble knob when backed off would just cut the treble but I come from a Mesa Boogie background so I just really don’t know if it’s just a quick of a Plexi as it sits it seems the Treble knob is crazy power on this beast haha.
