Hi Aaron, how's the amp head 8 months after your excited comment? Still liking it? I ordered mine a week ago for the same reason of yours
@kenmorales59886 жыл бұрын
I love mine. When I got it, I played it without really dialing it in, and it sounded really thin. It was to the extent I felt like I made a mistake. It's been almost a year now, and I must say, I LOVE it. Most of the negative comments I've heard about it seem to be from people who "tried one out and didn't like it". You really have to dial it in to find your own personal sweet spot. Pedals help because you only have one clean channel (with a gain boost). I run any combination of the clean channel with the gain boost, a TS808 and a BE-OD. That combination gets me pretty close to the versatility of say a DSL40. While the DSL40 "has it all" in one package, this is more stripped down for those who want total control of crafting their own sound from scratch. 🤘😎
@DCDacey-cq6nb3 жыл бұрын
If you use a Marshall power break and turn the amp on 10, it will drastically increase the gain. It’s a master volume “sort of”. I was surprised how much gain this amp actually has when it’s cranked. It makes a great pedal platform too. I use mine with a KOT and I use one side for strats and the other for humbuckers.

If thats your goal go for the DSl HR series that came out right before the Origin 50. Most people on the Marshall Forum who have owned both will tell you the DSL kills the origin and can do everything the origin can x 100. I bought the DSL100HR right when they were released like whiten the first month or two at most and ive never been so happy with an amp in my life. It does everything. Before i bought it i was wondering if i should wait for the Origin to release, for once in my life my impatience paid off lol. Every channel is incredibly versatile and all are immediatly usable but get so much better the longer you play through them and learn how to manipulated them just right. The channels are Clean or Crunch on the Classic Channel, and OD1 and OD2 On the Ultra Channel. I can get so many inspirational tones out of the DSL100HR and 2 orange 1x12 (spaced about 5/6 ft. apart) and the few tones that arent right on the money can be taken there with a pedal (it takes pedals really well). I cant speak for the other sizes other than the 100W head which is what i have and the 40W Combo (dont own one but have played through a couple and they are great also, a tiny less versatile but it makes up for it in convenience). But if the smaller versions are anything like the bigger ones they are a great investment. The Origin on the other hand IS NOT FOR SOMEONE WHO ONLY PLANS TO OWN ONE OR TWO AMPS! Sure it does some cool vintage Marshall tones but it seriously leaves you wanting more. I would only recommend an Origin to someone like Leon who has a tone of amps and just want another flavor. But if you want a Marshall amp that wont limit you its the DSL HR. Just my 2 cents. Play both cause some moron is gonna chime in and tell you that his Origin is better but its just not the case if your only using one amp 90% of the time like I do and a lot of other guitar players do. Dont take my word for it but do go play both if you plan to buy one.

Picked one of these up off the back of this review. It's definitely the kind of amp you have to tweak a bit as the tilt setting is super sensitive but it feels like a bit of a hidden gem given you can pick the 50h up for £350 in the UK right now. It's awesome for pedals too and still retains its Marshallish character while letting the pedals come through. Great impressions video 👌

Wow that gain was monstrous! Congrats for heaviest origin tone on planet Leon... Unbelievably fast dial too. Hope to see normalization of volume for power scaling in future videos and 57 mic. maybe the tone on the guitar can tame the brightness too, thats why the amp has a tilt
@aaronhuffstedtler4184 жыл бұрын
The brightness can be tamed 3 ways with the origin,.... the tilt, presence, and treble. Anything else is from the guitar or inline eq or compressor/gate if you have it in your chain. You just have to play with it a bit. I run my treble, bass, and mid pegged full, my tilt around 6, presence between 3 and 4, gain pegged full but not pulled, master at 8, with a JHS Little Black Box at 25% , and this gives a nice warm sound with enough bright and mid to cut through the mix, without the spiky icepicks in your ears.

Don't know what's going on here but, there's a frequency in there that's not playing well with the others. I don't know if its something that has to do with the translation from the mic to the video recording or what. To my ear, its in the upper section of the mid range and it reminds me of stones rattling in a tin can. Its present with all the guitars that were used and especially prominent with the Fender. The first guitar actually sounded like it had a slight intonation issue with the G or B strings.
