I love the G12H55! The mids are pumping! Never heard this speaker before.

Alot of Classic Rock recordings from the late 60s up to 1980 and many live shows feature the G12H30 55 Hz speaker. many tones that get attributed to the G12M 25 speaker were actually done with the G12H30 55Hz . These are bass cone speakers and were used for Marshall 1982 model bass cabinets but many Guitar players who used 100 watt heads adopted them for Guitar as they had a higher power handling rating. They were rated for 120 watts while the Guitar Cabinets or bass cabinets were rated for 100 watts . So with a 100 watt head you had a little more wiggle room with the bass cabs. Jimmy Page used the G12H30 55s for live work . As did Alex Lifeson until around mid 78 Hendrix also used from 68 onwards . The H30 55s have a killer lower midrange. One of my all time favorites

@@SeacowCabs Have you ever compared old G12 Vintage vs new ones? I thought they were produced identically, like this speaker came out around 1987 and they never changed the spec or the "recipe" for these ones

Great video! In the mix it was a toss up between the H55, G12V, & the G12M, the G12T-75 sounded a little nasally. Isolated H55&G12M, neck and neck, G12T-75 more nasally, but something about it drawing me to it, G12V a little dry and bright. If I had to pick one...H55. Getting ready to pull a trigger on a 4x12...this helps.

Biggest issue with the Greenback is that it's only 25W, meaning you need 4 of them - or mix with a different one, like the T75 or Creambacks - to run a 100W head. But it sounds phenomenal.

There is a huge tonal benefit to running 4x12 so I don't see the negative tbh

​@@taylolzit's worth nothing For instance Thomann sells a Benton Thiele with a G12M This is FINE - IF, you're running a 10w amp and never think of sub octave fuzz or the like.

In an X pattern your wattage rating is 4x your lowest rated speaker. So greenbacks x G12T75 or whatever would have the same warrage as an all Greenback cab, because those will blow first.

I just put a g12m and Vin 30 in the slanted portion of this cab I like the mix of them and the stock fizzy 75s in the bottom maybe I switch positions one day, too busy rockn tho 😉 😜 😀 😏

I gotta tell you, with a set of Audiophile headphones on, I was never a fan of the H Greenbacks….. UNTIL NOW! I was always an M guy. But I drop these headphones on and I’m like “WOAH! The H’s are so much more balanced across the spectrum compared to everything else.” The M’s are sucked, the T-75’s sound sucked and buzzy and the G12V’s have a nasal like quality. When you put a great pair of headphones on, the H’s shine thru all the way.
