Sara, we don't realise what we have until they are gone. It's been 10 years now and I still miss both my parents. My dad past 29 days after my mum and I told him at my mother's funeral that he didn't have to hang on. He had suffered a major stroke years before and hung on for my mums sake. Married 4 months after meeting and married for 50 years that is ❤️

Forever a fan. Saw them live in concert once in the early 70s and then my wife and I stopped at a place on east colonial Dr they were playing there for one night that was in 1984. 350 people max...Fantastic show. Unbelievable that they were playing there. Lost my hearing for a few hours but it was worth it. The best of Southern rock and roll....

Beautiful memory of your parents and this song. I'm 12 years older than you and born and bred in Los Angeles friggin' CA. But I was a serious rock bass player back in the Hollywood/Pasadena days, and Marshall Tucker's music truly spoke to me then, as it does to this day. Tell you the truth, "Heard It In A Love Song" just about tells the story about me and a girl friend in the past. She WAS the one but I always kept "thinking about tomorrow today". Damnit. Still brings tears to this rambler's eyes. Blessings to your dad.

@@BlankScreenSessions Almost no words to say, except that I'm a decade older than your parents and when I was 29 I had the world before me. And so do you. But life ends. My wife and I have lost all our parents by now, but our siblings are still kicking. Even now, I can not imagine that my beautiful life's partner will depart this earth someday. Just don't think about it. Live your life for now. Work hard and raise your family. And this song still makes me cry inside. All Blessings to you.

I remember driving from an old gf's house when I was young. She lived in Arizona and I lived in California. I was in the middle of nowhere young and heartbroken. This song came on the radio... I can't explain what it did but I cried like a baby. When it was done I felt new... I stopped and ran through a field. I really felt like I learned more about myself that day. I'm so happy this song was made.

Born in 1958 I grew up in Spartanburg, SC and picked a little with a buddy, Stuart Swanlund, who went on to play with the Marshall Tucker Band starting in the 1980's. My Mom & Dad used to come over and watch Stuart and us play music at his house as he lived only one street over from me. That boy could pick a guitar like nobody's business - even when he was just 15 years old. Mom, Dad and Stuart are gone now. I live in Florida these days, but when I hear the opening notes of this song I get a little lump in my throat thinking of home and lost loved ones. P.S. Thank you Doug Gray for treating my 3 daughters like princesses whenever we would come see you all play in Florida through the years.

I've heard many songs today that utilize the strings, orchestral. My favorite rock band of today tours with a cello and violin. But yeah, not many have winds today. I saw a foo fighters acoustic set that had a violinist also. The only classic rock band that comes to mind is Kansas with the violin, but there are probably others.

I was a very "short for my age 5 year old" when this song came out. My sister played this song over and over on the record. My short self would be in the back yard, the grass being up to my eyeballs. The sun was warm, the wind was gentle, the grass was soft, and the earth was rich. It felt like this song poured the warmth, and the gentleness, and the softness in to my soul. I felt safe and content, with the smell of thee evening meal wafting through my back yard. I remember the melodies and note of this song would carry my imagination to the spent days events. The magic of youth and the eternity of a 5 year olds imagination would make the past events seem much more sensational than reality. To this day when I hear this song. I time travel back to when I was a barefoot 5 year, sinning around in circles, in the soft grass, under that warm sun, in the path of that gentle breeze, till I got dizzy, thinking it was dancing, so damn happy to be alive.

RedGeoBlaze, I hear you (brother or sister)... loud and clear, I listen to music from the fifteenth century to the 19190s. Sometimes I make my own. I’m not much of a guitarist, but I like what I come up with. I play for my wife, my brothers, my nieces, my nephew, my mom & stepfather & of course for me. I’ve Never been able to play anyone else’s music, but songs like this inspire me. I like the progressions, the pick patterns, the tone, timbre & inspiration in songs like this.

+1stSaintsFan I'm 30. Roughly 20 years too late to experience many great songs when the world, and the greatest country (USA, melting pot of the world) were finding what limits...and ultimately couldn't be found in music. The time when electronic was forming, and almost every other existing genre was at its peak. not only that without this foundation, many newer genres wouldn't have existed. If only I could have seen the 60, and 70s. Every decade has its highs and lows but damn America was on fire musically. Must have been the acid.

This was my mom and dad's song. They'd both always turn up the radio when this song came on. My dad passed away in 2018, and whenever I hear this I feel like it's him saying hello. Always makes me cry.

+Max Mccool Shit I have one that I never even slept with. And no I'm not talking about my mother. This woman was just my goddess and I couldn't even touch her. Call me a fool but it made me the very strong person I am now.. Ah the perils of being friendzoneded after being too pussy to score when given multiple opportunities.

1975 to 1981 created the most awesome music available to humanity. The artists were so versed in their craft it produced incredible work. It began to die around Madonna and Wham. It's been dying ever since. A few exceptions here and there, but dying none the less.

I love them both and wish they were both still here
