Martha, you have to add salt to the water before adding the grits or they won't have any flavor. It's a Southern thing! And if you want to have grits, egg and country ham, then pour a little coffee over the ham in the bowl to release the salt from the ham and give you the best Red Eye gravy you've ever tasted.

I lived knowing the reasons and details about the heat for frying and the why stuff! She explains that for frying wear closed shoes and the apron- Very good advice and I recommend a face shield for open pan frying.

DONT USE A LID TO COVER YOUR FRY OIL!! Covering the chicken oil with a lid is a really dumb thing to do. The lid collects moisture which drips down into the hot oil causing violent splattering like we clearly see in this video. This is a big no-no.

I love watching her cook. And this is great! Actually I really don’t enjoy fried chicken that much. I love chicken but fried chicken doesn’t make me happy unless I pull the larger pieces of skin off. The breasts and thigh skin isn’t appealing to me. It reminds me of a big scab. Call me crazy but I’m kooky!

My family is from Mississippi , Mobile Alabama ,, and Ruston Louisiana. l like watching this , but it is not true to our cooking. No one in their right mind would put lemon on good fried okra. Your chicken is not crispy to please a southern Baptist gramma and its really dark. i think you need to stop trying to gussy up food that is simple and from the heart.

It seems we are of the same mind. I co - founded a Black vegetarißm network. I decided to promote converted Leah chase recipes. For health❤ and therapeutic reasons. For instance I use a seed/nut loaf mixture seasoned to appeal to southern black tastes and substituted for meet. Sunflower walnut (with nutritional yeast ) has Protein, fiber, Omega,vitamin d, cal lium, pozitve horm ones, b-vites including b -12. I might mix it with tomatoes for soup How do you like this dairyless recipe. Banana Niut. Ice cream with cherry sauce is good for diabetes. What do you think ? Shall we converse on this. My people are suffering from diabetes. Thank you.
