Im pretty gentle with it, but the finish is so thin I have marked it up with little marks. Your fingernail can press right into the finish very easily. Ive heard that a guard will sacrifice some tone

Are Martin's typically higher in cost in the UK vs the US? I purchased mine for $1581. I did have a coupon which the retailer often runs. I was just surprised to see these higher in the UK. Anyway, I purchased the black 00l-17. Normally black acoustics don't appeal to me, but this one just grabbed me. I have to believe the finish is exactly as it would've been in golden era. Just very authentic. The sound is perfect and I play mostly fingerstyle. I plan on holding onto this one for the remainder of my life and hope the family appreciates it as I pass it on down.

Hi Pablo, Thanks for your message. The links are in the description.. goo.gl/dTOIIe Thank for watching.

Yep I followed the link earlier today, hence my confusion. The 12 fret model you have for sale is shown with no pick-guard (the martin website has only pictures with no pick-guard as well). Can't wait to place my order ;) Thanks for your time!
@styx858 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering the same thing. The black smoke model looks so much better with the contrasting pickguard/scratch plate, and review models generally seem to have it, but the 12-fretters I see _for sale_ don't have it.
@benjaminvictor49968 жыл бұрын
So any answer on this, in the video they say 12 fret for the black smoke, but all the 12 fret models on line across many sites show no pick guard.

I think ... best overall ... 00L-17 in black smoke. Right size, best sound/looks, 14 fret - could benefit from a smidge beefier neck and 2 1/4" string spacing, but that's getting picky. A real winner.

General Cornwallis was landing on his ars😮 and Ben Franklin picked up a Martin and wrote. Then they all joined hands and sang Everybody Wang Chung tonight, and America was born with a Constitution that turned their Felons into Presidents. I'm unhappy with my 000-17 (whiskey smoke). It doesn't have the low end I was hoping for. Too trebly by far.
@williamcatalano17623 жыл бұрын
A 000 has more mid and top end than a dread from what I've been gathering from people. You should of got a slope shoulder or a regular dread if you wanted to keep more low end. I already have a Martin D-15M and want something that isn't as bassy in the low end, and that is well rounded for recording. Going to go with a 000-17. You just confirmed this for me even more. You could always take it back and go get the DSS-17 Slope shoulder in whiskey sunset like the 000 you got. It will have more low end thump for you most likely.

Uh... I think the dreadnought _as we know it now_ wasn't born till about 1934 -- although some big, slope-shouldered boxes with slotted pegheads have been around since about 1931. The Ditson company, for whom Martin made made some guitars, offered some "dreadnought" big-box boomers in the 1920s or so. I think.
