11:06 fun fact, the yamato's guns fired shells that weighed 3200+ and just under 3000 pounds, if you divide the rough weight of the yamato's shell by its caliber, you get how many pounds per mm of gun size, convert up, and your yamato's guns would fire shells weighing just under 14,000 pounds each, or just under 7 tons each.

That's incorrect tho because the surface inside a circle grows squared to the of radius (A= π*r^2 = π*(d/2)^2 = π/4*d^2). If you keep the shell length the same and assume its cylindrical then the weight would be about 19 times heavier... (2000mm/460mm)^2= 18.9... actual shell weight would be around 3000 pounds *18.9 = 56700 pounds or about 28350kg! Think of a cylinder and it's volume given by π*radius^2 * length :)

As someone whose been pretty involved in FtD's community since 2016, it means a lot to me to see you've not only played but put time and effort into making a solid video on it. I realize obviously the grind is on to keep up with your communities demand (early congrats on 1 mil btw, you've earned every sub) but seeing a very fun to watch content creator like you cover a small game with a small community that's very dear to me, it means a lot. I won't act like FtD is a game for everyone, (lmfao it isn't) but I've always felt its something more people should know of. It doesn't have the polish of Space engineers or Stormworks, literally ANYTHING is more intuitive, but when you give it the time, and have the right people to help you out, its loads of fun. One of my favorites was when me and some friends lined the bottom of one of our battleships with a row of nukes from stern to bow. When ignited at the stern they would detonate one by one, the blast force of which would propel the 300 meter long ship past the speed of sound and across half the map. In short, I kinda always thought the community was fading out after 2016 when it stopped being popular on the steam store. Ever since we've just had those who've stuck around, and sometimes those who returned to give it another go after millions of updates by the dedicated dev team. This video gave me hope that won't always be the case and I thank you for that Martin. As for anyone reading this, if your interested in getting to know the FtD Community and where to start, let me know. I've been around for five years getting to know all of it corners to some degree and if you're interested, I'll be happy to help you find yours. P.S. Just compartmentalize it a little to help with your lag for flooding when the hull is breached. Just add 3 wooden bulkheads 'walls' inside and just make it 4 compartments and you will see a huge gain. Plus you won't start sinking from just a couple hits lol. Also the guns are a simple fix just build a square armor box around them that's big enough that the turret guts can rotate freely. You will see your guns surviving much better. Both of these fixes are quick and simple. It's if you want to efficiently design and incorporate these in that it gets tedious and time consuming but just slapping them in quick and simple is easy.

The Yamato went beyond what many Americans see as a sizeable battleship due to the fact that the US navy required their ships to fit within the Panama canal. This is why the Yamato was seen as monstrously huge by many American engineers, authors, and soldiers. Obviously we know today that Aircraft Carriers were the future of Naval combat, but battleships will always hold a place in our hearts.

that and you really need to stack armour, you want at least 5 layers on something this big, if not more

A very simple way to fix the ship would be to add internal compartments, the more the better, each with their own pump. That way when breached it only has to recalculate for those segments.

As a Lathrix viewer, some tips: 1. Internal dediblades are great for artificially producing buoyancy, and for providing roll & pitch stability. By using them, you can remove the air pumps in your Yamato design. 2. Have you actually never heard of bulkheads? Your Yamato is one giant Titanic just waiting to happen. Also it should massively reduce the lag from your air pumps. 3. Shaped frag head missiles, cluster cluster bombs that launch magnetic mines, laser munition defenses, surge protect your AI cores. 4. Do the UNSC Infinity thing: have your Yamato launch a small fleet of cruisers :D 5. B U L K H E A D S 6. Smoke. Defenses. 7. Seriously, use bulkheads. 8. Maybe, uhhh... add submarine defenses? Please play this again. Check out the Lathland KZbin channel, Lathrix is an absurdly good designer and he has a similar appreciation for the stupidly powerful.

It took me a few days but I did it I made the A.S.S. AKA the Anit Squirrel System which is just a relatively big auto cannon setup which fires 3m long x 115mm flak rounds with proximity or timed fuses and it doesn't rely on frivolous and mythical things such as ACCURACY and PRECISION the damn thing it just shoots so many flak rounds it that it becomes a LOGICAL IMPOSSIBILITY THAT A ROUND WONT HITS ITS TARGET you see now? Accuracy and Precision is overrated and unnecessary if you can fire 1850RPM at the general direction of the enemy
