This little cabin is hidden deep in the forests of northern Minnesota. Built in the 1920's and still being inhabited during the 1950 census has now become a special place for a lot of people. Jack L. brought his bride back here in the early 1950's for their honeymoon year. He then sold it to Everett B. and his fellow farmer-deerhunters. While out exploring on skis Martin happened upon it in 1986 and was able to purchase it with some friends. Many great memories have been journaled since then.

The birds are Gray Jays and by offering food at ever closer distances you build their trust. Just never walk away and leave your dinner unguarded. Gray Jays are the easiest to do this with. One time we left a trail of bread crumbs to the center of the cabin floor and they came right in.

S.R. Hurst ,,, just an update to say Martin’s cabin is under investigation, Martins cabin is “supposedly” in Minnesota but if you look closely in some of his videos you will see Elf’s and the occasional glimpse of Santa Claus coming and going. We believe that Martins cabin is farther north than Minnesota. In fact, rumor has it that in one of Martin’s Deleted videos there was a sleigh parked on the cabin roof. We may actually be looking at the “Real” Santa Claus here. Consider this; > Only Santa Claus hand feeds wild birds > Only Santa Claus enjoys -30 degree weather > Only Santa Claus can appear in geographically remote areas at the same time > Only Santa Claus can walk endlessly in the woods without fear of wild animal attack > Only Santa Claus has so many pots and pans to feed all the elf’s Our investigators down here in San Diego are looking this over as the possible location for the subterranean entry into Santas Workshop. (note the recent foundation modifications made by said Mr. Martin) Updates will be forthcoming T

Hello Martin: I'm originally from KY near the Daniel Boone National Forest and your videos of the rustic area you live in made me feel homesick. I have to mention that I respect your regard for the land and animals. After a few episodes, I began to sense that this comes from your faith. Your wife and family are very lucky to have you in their lives. Warm regards, Janice Q.

There is something very attractive about having a nice warm Little cabin off somewhere away from society. Even though a man may seem alone there, he is never really alone. He has nature and the animals to keep him company. Our way of life in America is too demanding at times. It is great to have a place to just leave it all and forget about all your problems. Dick Prenokee sure knew how to do it. See the video, "Alone in the wilderness." on KZbin .

Martin, just found your video. Mn boy now in NM. Miss home terribly and while raised in Mpls often spent summer time in Aitkin with relatives there and in Crosby. Then deer hunted up by Cook. Your demeanor is that of what I've seen in videos of Dick Proenneke and 10 years ago, my plan was to build my own place. Age (now only 68), body and an accident handling my '78 Honda 750 during a move, made me realize I'm maybe past the point of "building a log cabin" but still think of living in northern Mn and giving it my best shot. Just subscribed and will look for your other vids. Thank you! Live long and be safe. Larry

@johngerson7335 7 жыл бұрын
+TheNorthwoodsman1 I understand, and your humbleness is admirable, but the nature of your 'fiddling around in the woods' seems to be born of the same spirit as Dick's in my opinion. I started watching your vids with the series where you raised the cabin and put a rock foundation under it. I'm only 56 years old and I have to admit that I wouldn't have been equal to tackling that task by myself, nor do I know many fellows my age who would have been. Not whining, those are just the facts! Hats off to you sir, and thanks for your kind reply.

I enjoyed watching this. It looks like a cozy place to spend a little time in winter. Maybe I didn't catch this correctly, but I thought you said you had to ski in from Durango, so for a minute I thought you were in CO. They have Camp Robbers there too! But no wolves so far as I know...

@Patphoto44 7 жыл бұрын
Ah! Thanks for the explanation. :-) I love winter and being snowed in -- but I'm not in quite as remote a location. I also enjoyed your grouse videos. This year, I've had a ruffed grouse tracking my every move from May 31 thru mid-October. Audubon figures it's a young male who was setting up his territory and I just happen to live in it -- much to his dismay. I've seen him less recently, but also haven't been outside as much. When I last saw him, he had a limp and didn't stick around long. Perhaps he has more important matters on his mind.
