Great to see the old gang again! I have two of those stun canes, and it was awesome to see you guys make the great sacrifice to demo them in use. I had to use one of them once, to protect my wife and myself, walking home from a local venue, and I never had to touch it to the guy, as the arcing and crackle was sufficient to make him back the hell off. The cane gets my vote!

Thanks for another Weapons Wednesday! I don't see a poll in the community tab, so I'll put all of my comments and questions here. My first question was whether any of these left marks on you either immediately after filming or in the day or so afterwards. I assumed that you filmed a day or two early. (Using the term "filming" makes me sound old.) That you smelled burning flesh from the use of the third one makes me wonder whether Ian developed a burn on his shoulder. Are marks or burns less likely with some stun guns and not others? Are they less likely through some kind of clothing? Does clothing thickness matter? I've watched some videos about the Jonbenet Ramsey murder over the past few months. I know that she had two burns on her skin and that people hypothesized that they were from some similar weapon. Most people believe that weapon was made to render her unconscious. If so, that might be a Taser rather than a stun gun, and if I understand correctly, those are different weapons. I'm fairly certain that you have covered that difference in previous videos. I typically haven't liked stun guns because I don't like anything that relies on electronics. Rechargeable batteries eventually go dead. Humid environments will eventually cause some kind of degradation of wires, capacitors, and connections. From a survivalist point of view, anything that requires power is going to be useful only for a short period of time if the grid goes down. I don't like something that can be used quite so easily as a torture device if taken from me. I realize that the other side of the coin is that one doesn't need a great deal of strength and in some cases not even a great deal of quickness to use a stun gun effectively. An impact weapon still depends on the ability to swing with enough force to produce a good impact. The weapon multiplies the defender's natural force, but multiplying something very small still results in something small. Likewise, I knife still requires the quickness to make an effective cut or thrust. A moderately skilled, determined attacker may gladly trade a cut on the knuckles to get close and do harm. With a stun gun, the electricity convulses the attacker's muscles and keeps the attacker from being able to control that part of his (or even her) body for at least a short period of time. Some attackers may not be that deterred by the pain, but the forced convulsion of a hand, arm, or leg might stop the attacker from accomplishing whatever harm he intends. I asked about the marks on your skin because I realized for the first time that a tool that doesn't leave a mark could help someone with the legal aftermath of a self-defense action. Deep cuts and blood on body cam footage could be used by a corrupt prosecutor or liability lawyer. Likewise, deep bruises or broken bones could be used by corrupt lawyers to pretend that the forced used against the attacker was wrong. Granted, if I'm on the jury, nothing the defender does is going to lead me to vote "guilty" or "liable" for whatever happens to an attacker, but not every jury will have someone who is strongly in favor of self defense. On top of that, my health issues might keep me from serving on a jury. If the stun gun leaves no visible marks, corrupt lawyers are less likely to be successful in prosecuting or suing someone who uses a stun gun in self-defense. In terms of these specific tools, a few thoughts come to mind. The Hammer Fist Stun Gun looks handy and useful. A person could carry one of those without anyone really noticing. A holster would be more useful than the bag that they give, but even without a holster, this tool could be put in a pocket or purse. I'd love a safety to keep the light or stun gun from being activated accidentally in a pocket. I would advertise the spike as a glass breaker rather than a self-defense tool. I'm sure it would break out a window effectively to get out of a sinking car or burning building. The metal tip really wouldn't be necessary for self-defense. A similar polymer tip would work just as well in that application. The writing pen seems a little silly. Writing with that thing would be difficult, and adding threads to the spike so that the pen is accessible seems to be an expense that doesn't bring any real benefit. If I were going to have a threaded spike that could be removed, I'd put a whistle or fire starter in that spot. The whistle would have value in an urban setting to bring help or even in a wilderness setting. The fire starter would be mostly a survivalist perk. If the manufacturer really wanted to get fancy, the spike would unscrew to pull out a small solar panel that would allow the user to charge the battery when USB power isn't available. The Self-Defense Stun Baton has always been a cool weapon. I like that it's not too big although no one could really carry one in a pocket. Backpack carry would be easy, and purse carry would be feasible with larger purses. Even without power, this tool can be an effective blunt force tool for self-defense. I don't think that carry clip would hold well if someone were engaged in vigorous activity, but for casual movement, the clip would hold well and allows quick access as demonstrated. The Self-Defense Stun Cane is interesting but less appealing to me. As someone who uses a cane, I prefer a cane that is a little less conspicuous. I tend to bump the bottom end of my cane into things, and I worry that the electrodes would be damaged over time. I also think that someone who was quick and skilled would have a better chance of grabbing the cane above the electrodes. Then, I'd be in a battle for control of a cane that I would be afraid to grip neat the base. The light on the handle is cute, but I don't see it as being positioned in a way that would be very helpful. The situation where this one might be most helpful would be defense against aggressive dogs. I've run into a few dogs that were nasty, and shocking one of them with the end of this cane could solve a real problem.
@Karatemart10 ай бұрын
You make some really excellent points! As for your questions…after the video, I did take some time to examine myself for markings. My arm was a little red, but I think that was caused by Ian striking me with the stun baton and not by the electricity. I believe that the burning smell we smelled was from Ian’s hair burning, but we didn’t see any burn marks on his skin. The main after effect I noticed is that my anxiety and heart-rate were up for about 2 hours after the video. But, that could have been related to the stress involved in being on camera and being stunned. Have an awesome week, my friend!

I've been reading some technical material relevant to this topic, "HUMAN RESPONSES TO ELECTRICITY: A LITERATURE REVIEW". in summary: - effect is mostly an function of pulse energy and frequency, with a peak around 50 Hz. - peak voltage that can be delivered has little impact. Electrode area or longer pulses can deliver the same effect with lower voltage. The high voltage and pointed electrodes used by tasers are favored only for arcing through the air or poking through clothing when good electrode contact can't otherwise be made.

Is there a stun baton exactly like the cane? The ones I saw on your site had the shock on the ends instead of the side this would be great if you could convert it to a baton. The handle on cane seems awkward to use to swing and shock at the same time.

Hi! The closest stun baton to the cane would be the “anti-grab stun baton”, which has shock strips on the sides as well as the end. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching!
