I met Marty back in early 90s at the Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN. He was playing an outside show there midday. Towards the end of the show, he did what he called a "Hank Williams medley." I swear it was sunny that day, but as he started playing that medley, the sky filled with dark clouds, sky turned a deep black/purple hue, and temp dropped 20 degrees felt like. Crowd was dead silent as he kept playing that haunting sounding song. As he ended the song, the sun came back out, like nothing had occurred. I'll never forget it. I caught up to him at his tour bus. I bet I was the only male there among 40-50 old ladies asking for an autograph. All those ladies had big Marty Stuart glamour shot pictures to sign. I only had a dollar bill, so when it was my turn, I told him, "sorry Marty, but this dollar is all I have." He replied with a grin...".."a dollar's all you need, Brother." So he signed my dollar bill, and i still have it to this day! Coolest guy ever!

It's got such a true 'West' vibe to it, esp since I am on a secluded large ranch in north-central CA the last 5 plus yrs, and love it here. Had close up tickeys to Marty's show in Sacramento, cancelled twice. With any luck, be able to see him, finally. Been watching him since he was 14 w/Scruggs...Marty is the real deal, as a musician, historian and person. Check out interview w/Dan Rather, it's a real gem, one of my 4 fave interviews. Full of honest stories. I love this tune, so frkn happy Marty finished it w/J.R. Cash in his heart, as always. Peace and love y'all

Knowing him and his lifetime in music since he was a little boy from Mississippi to a ambassador of traditional country I love it. Refreshing to hear something come out like this keeping the flame lit to the fire in my heart that traditional country music. Makes me think of a Roger Miller song, been a long time leaving but I'll be a long time gone.
