Marty, it's been a really rough week, and I desperately needed something calming for my mental health. The most challenging thing I've ever done mechanically is replace a carburettor on a lawnmower, so very basic stuff, so perhaps you may find it odd that your channel is a go-to for a mental health "treatment", but it SO does the trick. You calmly "fix" my brokenness as you find and calmly fix mechanical brokenness. And I thank you for it.
@anthonytilling3442Күн бұрын
Well said....hope you feel better soon......:)
@DanKoning777Күн бұрын
Because of the world we live in, most find themselves to some degree, in the same situation. Please consider a "fix" that is not temporary: "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but take courage; *I have overcome the world" [John 16v33] This peace is permanent-one the world can't give, nor the rites, rituals, and ceremonies of being religious-only by grace thru faith in Christ [Eph 2v8-9].

@JohnSmith-pl2bkКүн бұрын
Bought the cheapest nastiest angle grinder available new with a 1 year warranty... the grey one professionals have in their toolboxes to lend to "borrowers". Disassembled the gearbox straight after taking the machine out of the box. Small blobs of Yak fat randomly scattered off the cogs and onto the casing....and that was the lubrication! Filled it up with high temp grease....and it's lasted 10 years and counting.

I have that same Makita drill. Its been back for repair 3 times. The gearbox broke in half once, the forward/backwards lever stopped working, the side handle broke, and it still has a problem that if it grabs on something the torque will twist the handle so much it locks the trigger on. I'd say the rear bearing has gone. It's pretty common in that model. If it's not under warranty it's a super easy fix and you can get a far better bearing than factory for it. If it's the gearbox you're in for a world of pain. My new grinder also went back twice and still has noisy bearings. My new demo hammer has a slipping clutch. My 3 year old circular saw has a dead trigger. I've lost a LOT of faith in Makita recently. O bought a new 40v saw last week so hopefully it goes good.

Hey Marty, thanks for the hours of inspiration! I’m trying and failing to emulate what you do while keep my expectation level at below 10% of what you achieve. I’m finding new ways to die every day with the mistakes I’m making with machinery 😂😂. What would help me enormously, and maybe keep me alive, is to figure out how to connect a hydraulic forklift attachment I recently purchased to my Ford 1900 (shibaura) that I also recently picked up. I’m in Wellsford, New Zealand and trying to get by with a ‘make do and mend’ approach. Keep up the awesome work and if you’re ever in Wellsford, please swing by and say hi and maybe help swing a wrench or two 😊. Cheers Jonathan

I would try to heat up the bolt then shock it with cold water, then stick the extractor in the hole. The extractor would restrict the metal movement if in the hole already. It doesn't always work, but heat shocking it has been my no1 method. Sometimes (mostly with big bolts) i heat it up with the coil, shock it, then leave it until the next day and they come out. I've only had one stubborn nut not work, but it was pretty severely eaten by rust, more like a truncated cone than a nut.

I came close to crying when the thermostat housing was removed. Imagine how easy it was then when you didn't need to remove most of the front of the engine to get the thermostat out to change it. I had a 2000 Hyundai Elantra and it started overheating real bad. Turned out the far king *plastic cap* they used on the top of the radiator had split off. 53 years ago at my after school job in the Service Station the caps were desoldered, removed, the radiator cores flushed out and the top and bottom caps were soldered back on. Cheap job and basically a new radiator. My plastic piece of crap couldn't be fixed so it cost me $490 for a new radiator 11 years ago. My first car was a 1966 Triumph Herald and when the radiator got a small leak in it then it was a short trip to Tony _the_ Butler parts store in Stanmore Rd IIRC for a can or two of Bars Leaks and problem solved. NOW you can't fix anything unless you have a high end ODBC II reader and the multi hundreds of $$$ for the yearly subscription. 🙄 How many hours on the engine Marty? Sounds real nice but it may be the video software editing the _naughty_ sounds out but I don't think that after what you commented on at the end. It's going to look really sweet when the dents and rust are removed and then gets a new paint job for the ball. 👍 I know it won't want Cat Yellow which they charge an arm and both legs for but on Channel I watched the YTer took a Cat paint sample to the paint store and got it colour matched. Got Cat colour without paying through the nose for it. Should work for this little gem so he gets the genuine factory colour as a way cheaper price. It's just a thought. 👍
