Excellent review from MW. Kudos!! I'm a strong proponent of Diesel cars. I was driving a swift diesel earlier for more than a decade and then upgraded to Creta Diesel two yrs back. I absolutely have no qualms about the fuel economy I get while driving my Creta (17 -19 kms in city & 22-24 kms in highway). The real world Mileage Test of Hybrid cars for 300+ Km drive is appreciable in flat roads. I currently own a 2017 Aspire Diesel (crossed 51.5 Km in ODO) which has been giving me 25+ mileage in highways (maintaining speed of 90-100Kmph, occasionally 110-115 kmph) and min of 15.5+Mileage in Chennai City. We would also like to know the following on Hybrid cars like Grand Vitara. 1. Yearly Maintenance cost associated 2. Battery Life time and replacement charges . 3. Uphill Driving and Mileage performance.

Hi asir bro, have a small doubt regarding the hybrid cars. I accept hybrid is very very good in country like India, but my concern is that normally in ice engines there is an important parameter to be monitor i.e engine temperature. Driving an engine at an optimum temperature is the prerequisite for a better engine life. In case of hybrids i see a rapid switching on and off of the engine. Engine gets started before it even warms up and in highways we see that engine shuts down abruptly at a higher temperature. Will it be an reliable option to opt hybrids considering my above point. I accept engineers would have taken these scenarios while constructing the engine, but as a common man asking your opinion. Could you clarify this.

@@gokulbala3096 yes, but I think hybrid is just offsetting inexperienced drivers driving which obviously reduces fuel efficiency.. experienced drivers know when to brake when they expect traffic ahead or when to accelerate etc... So the use of hybrid battery will be little there. An inexperienced driver will brake suddenly causing regen braking for charging the battery etc., They don't understand how torque and power works in a car...
