I really like the squinted eyes head. If I ever get the figure (Because I have the retro wave version) I would get it for that headsculpt. It really reminds me of Web Of Shadows suit

I got this figure along with the 85 years retro carded venom at a toy show last week. (ugh it’s so sick to have them posed side by side) I’m a sucker for a more slimmer Spider-Man body so them basically throwing symbiote colors on an amazing fantasy body while adding a classic & mcfarlane style head to the mix is Christmas for me.

The shields are a direct throwback to the original Secret Wars figures. They came with shields with holograms.

At this point we've gotten this design on so many bodies. That's a good thing because everyone has their favorite body. People argue about the eyes. RYV is my idea of the Marvel Legends. Though I still find Mafex to be definitive. I think this will be great for a lot of people who like the body but skippable for those who prefer the other bodies.

I was initially excited to get this symbiotic but after seeing multiple reviews I’m cancelling it. I prefer the retro symbiotic spidey (even though it’s not pinless). This one is well articulated but can’t get passed the giant duck feet. I’ll just wait for a pinless version of the retro one whenever it comes out.

About time they used this body for the black suit, it suits it perfectly. Very good release by hasbro if not only for the fact that its spiderman with the PROPER hands minus the gripping ones which aren't too sorely missed, on top of that he is WICKED articulated. Wolverine and spidey are the standout wins of this wave for sure

It's actually the same first appearance spider man but painted symbiote Spidey which is cool I been waiting for this one. I hope the price of this figure doesn't sky rocket. Because it's an awesome symbiote Spidey.

Honestly, this is a fantastic Symbiote figure! Great review. I'm not understanding the people who are complaining about the thwipping hands and no toe joint. If Hasbro didn't include those hands many of you would complain about the lack of! Also, I prefer no toe articulation (yes, even on Spidey!) because it tends to get floppy over time. Also, the feet size are just fine for stability sakes. Some of ya'll are never happy!! It looks great, and I own the retro symbiote. I really like the figure, thanks for bringing back the nostalgia, Hasbro!

I took the vhs symbiote spidy and swapped the arms with the retro symbiote spidy, then just a little bit of acetone to get rid of the blue and it looks amazing

The original figs had multiple lenticular slides that were even double sided to show some additional scenes from f the characters in action. Bigger deal in the 80’s versus 2024.

I just don't see it as a good enough upgrade against the one I already have. They couldn't even be bothered to give him some web effects? I think I'm going to just hunt down the Mafex version (or wait for a reissue) as that looks like a true upgrade (well obviously, given the price).

Those feet look huge! And correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the black suit Spider-Man shoot webs from the dorsal side of his hands, making the thwiping hands pointless? Also, (minor nitpick) the newly sculpted arms were made a little more defined than the previous ones. They clash with the rest of the softly sculpted body. I’m gonna pass on this one as I feel like previous iterations were executed a little better.

His eyes are way too big, more like McFarlane eyes. The retro-carded version looks more accurate to Secret Wars. But it does look pretty cool. I'll probably pick this up if I can track it down.

It definitely does, but it's not. The Scarlet Spider head is different, the eyes are very different, they stick out on Scarlet Spider and his right eye is slightly more closed than his left eye. It also doesn't have those same wrinkles in-between the eyes, the way the new Symbiote head has. Similar, but not the same at all!

actually, it looks like mcfarlane's version of spiderman, scarlet spider has more triangular eyes, and scarlet spider came later in the 90s, some years after symbiote spiderman debut in the 80s and some years after mcfarlane made a drawing of symbiote spiderman with these eyes.
